Nairobi Archbishop bans priests from blessing same-sex couples

Archbishop Philip Anyolo of the Catholic Church of Nairobi has prohibited all clergy serving within his archdiocese from blessing irregular relationships, unions or same sex couples. A directive that defies the recent revelation from Vatican suggesting that Pope Francis had approved a ruling that priests can administer blessings to same-sex couples. Archbishop Anyolo clarified that the declaration goes against the Word of God, the teaching of the Church, and African Cultural Traditions. He says that the catholic doctrine remains clear that marriage is an exclusive, stable and indissoluble union of a man and a woman, naturally open to the generation of children.
