Joe literally influenced an age of art style. World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Wildstar, and many other games have him to thank for his style and without Joe they wouldn't even look like they do now.
Dude leauge of legends don't even look remotely like Joe's stuff stop with the overhype he's not that guy
@@luxuriousmindset1906
He is. You just have to understand the progression over the years in the industry. His style spawns a general style in a lot of games that is very derivative of his own. He is "that guy", my dude.
Battle Chasers kicked off the American fantasy book surge! Soon after we got: Soul Saga, Tellos, Divine Right, Warlands, Gear Station, Scion, The First, Victory, Heirs of Eternity, Arcanum, Re:Gex, Soulfire and more....
Yeah Joe was worried a fantasy book for the American market wouldn't receive it well. I am under the impression that initially issue 1 sales were a little sluggish too...but it picked up fast after that~~@@
Always loved the visual style of Battle Chasers : I remember drawing that hooded figure at 6:42 when I was younger
Awesome stuff!
I love how your 10 minute video is 22 minutes long.
It happens sometimes with art Like Joe Mad
Joe's Art is a case study in Awesome ;) The shapes, perspective, shadow and design. I see Ninja Scroll in those villain designs...would Love to see Joe do an Appleseed book...one of the few who could keep up with Shirow.
Artist Request: James Harren
I love the fact that Joe Mad´s art make one lose track of time :)
I’m looking at your video to help me go back to drawing again. Joe Mad’s art is amazing!
his first couple issues of The Inumans is by far my fav of his work.
Man, you have a good eye! I did ink that Red Monika piece on vellum. From what I remember I inked a DV8 pinup that Joe did on vellum as a tryout for Battle Chasers. I can't remember but I think I did this one before that. Joe liked what I did and I got the gig. I only got to ink the first 8 or 9 pages of the Battle Chasers Prelude before he ditched me for Tom.
hey thank you for commenting. I appreciate it. I hope you are doing well. I'll follow your page!
this was the first comic i ever got into great stuff
11:29 nice and Tight....Joe Mad! Gonna watch your latest Vids as soon as I have free time^^
Ahh this take me back, loved Joe's work with Tim Townsend inks on Uncanny X-Men with Steve Buccellato/liquid colours. My original jam back in the day
Love Joe Mad, now and forever. Great video, Rich!
So talented!
joe was my favorite comic book artist most of my youth. amazing stuff. he doesn't have a lot comic work out there.
And now who is? I still think he’s the best
@@reginaldforthright805 he still is haha i meant in my youth but i guess even now. he didn't do a lot of comics, but for sure left a mark.
@@kimberlyH1984 I also really love darksiders, especially 2. One of my favorite games. Joes style works so well in 3 dimensions.
When I see Joe's art, I see the shapes of a manga with the bold details of comics.
First Marvel Comic I ever bought was Deadpool #2 the Circle Chase.
His Joe, and Jim Lee's art have been a big influence on me. They set my standards for comic book art.
I’ve seen on Twitter very popular artists with huge followings not only mimicking Joe’s style but saw highly voted art that were exact same poses and style to Joe’s old X-Men days. Guess they forgot there’s old Joe fans out there that can spot his stuff being an influence from a mile away.
The style is very similar to samwise didier of Warcraft which is also from 90s
Lol and Joe stuff is fake street fighter capcom art all his male characters are ryu and or akuma
What’s up Dude!!! Love Joe Mad artwork, ever since Age of Apocalypse been a fan, Battle Chasers is so beautiful it’s impossible to do a 10min video on it you get lost in it also really like his video game work too Darksiders is awesome love his version of Death
Hi Rich, great stuff as always. Could you do a video on Sergio Toppi? I would love to hear what your thoughts are on him.
Madureira is great but after Tom McWeeney left so did I, his inks were exceptional and didn't like the other inkers. Joe's inks are actually pretty good. Never seen those black and white pages, I've seen the cover but it was in color in the Wizard Wildstorm Special.
right. I agree, Joe is quite good slinging ink! hahaha
@@RichardFriendartist Liquid also did an incredible job with the colors, the first TPB is one of my favorites books. Even so I would still like to see an artist's edition of those first issues.
Joe is always good
rich at the 14 minute mark. yeah gotta hurry up like 10 min video.
great stuff Rich
credit to Joe. He is awesome!!
Duuuuuude
These videos are really fun to watch while im drawing, can you talk about Ludo Lullabi artwork too?
other really good artists to analize: Ashley Wood, Rafa Sandoval, Alex Toth, Yosuke Murata, Hirohiko Araki (jojo part 5, 6, and 7 mostly), Matias Bergara
Shame how little work he produces nowadays. I don't think he even does key art for his own games anymore.
So the title was a lie! LOL
I lost track.....20 minutes with. lol.
