- In this episode of Race Metal, Miguel asked John what his favorite Santa fe gravel ride is. Watch and they ride from town (7000') to the towers (1200') on dirt.

It reminds me of Cyprus, very hilly, but fantastic looking island.
Excellent episode and beautiful views. Hope to go soon and go all the way to the Tesuque Peak
Great video guys...Thanks for the gps tracks in the Radavist link!
Fantastic !
Nice ride and excellent narrative on the environments and climate zones of the Southern Rockies.
John is a super knowledgeable tour guide! Makes this long ride feel short
EXCELLENT content. More of this, please. Also, I really wanted to see some of the descent!
Thanks! Yeah, the video was getting to be very long...
This was an excellent episode. Appreciate it, y'all.
wow! Thanks... I loved doing this one with John
Great video! I liked learning about the different landscapes and geography. I was hoping to see/hear how MIguel did with the gnarly downhill, though.
I totally forgot to put it at the end. Let's just say it was rough! But there was only 10% of the ride that I wish I was on a different bike.
15 minutes of discomfort over an 8 hour day haha
Loved the zone !
Nice ride
Riding and talking in the way up ? That’s amazing 🔥Enjoyed a lot the video
It made the ride all the more enjoyable! (and easier!)
LUV
Can we see that ritchey 26” on this route? That would be epic
So rad!!
Sounds like the perfect route for an ATB with 2.6 xc tires.
A rigid MTB is indeed a good one. Especially with a steel fork that flexes.
Looks like a great place/market for something like the Fox32 fork.
Or a hardtail.
Nice, that looks like a sweet ride. How late in the year can you do it before snow/weather sets in? Also, clicking on the link above gives me a 404 error. Please repost link if possible.
It's hard to say! First snowfall in SF is around November 14( correction Late October ). The best time of the year is definetely the fall, watching the leaves turn in Aspen Vista is magical!
Link is working now! There's some awesome photos from John on the website
@@maocycle first snowfall in November? Heck, we've had some years we get 8" in town in late September.
@@hinterlanded I went of average! But you're right! I have only been here 2 years and we have gotten snow early in the season
How was the descent ?
Great! Super fast. 🙂
“White Boys gotta keep the sun off”… I already new you weren’t hecho en Nuevo, and not a Norteño either. Anyway, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but those of us who WORK outside all day wear longsleeves, pants and full brimmed hats for a reason. It’s not about catching a quemon, ese, it’s about the high desert sucking all the water out of you with a quickness.
The massive scar on my face is from getting a chunk of skin cancer cut out, so I wear sun protection religiously. That is why I said, "white boys gotta keep the sun off." I spent my entire life WORKING outside, too: landscaping, construction, and doing lots of manual labor, and I always wore long sleeves. Being white means I have low Melanin which means I am more susceptible to sun damage, so wearing hoods and long sleeves is about lowering exposure to UV radiation first and foremost. It's easy to stay hydrated. It's harder to ward off UV radiation. That's why it's called a sun hoodie, not a dehydration hoodie.
