    Arabic music sounds magical, majestic, just like Indian music does. I love them both.

    thanx a lot for the wonderful presentation
    "Ya salam" is a multiple use phrase, although it literally means " o peace", in here it almost means "awesome" signaling the audience acceptance and commendation.

    The strange thing no one mentions the music in Arabic Penunles (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait) even both traditional and modern, and shows and discusses the way of writing poetry and compose songs.

    Discovering arabic music and will move to Indian right after. Arabic music is so, but so rich and colourful. I've been listening to Dimitrie Cantemir work, ok, maybe he was not 100% arab, but he composed music using the same language as the arabs and not western notation/harmony treaties of that time.
    I easily get into a trance listening to some of the maqam, etc. It's amazing

    Tha nks for this 🙂🙂 Im here to improve my dance raqs al sharqi dance styles and I've might need to move there.
    Western dance theory doesn't even discuss joy and ecstacy 😭😭 I know tons of musicians and not one could answer my questions on this subject.
    Thank you for explaining all of this because I have a degree in western dance performance and I play a lot of instruments.
    Western music is such a TINY part of the world 😭😭☝️ and it makes me sad that people where I live dont think that this type of music theory is as important as classical music theory👎👎

    Literally none of this is unique. Embellishments? Audience participation? Ecstasy? These are all universal. This is a feel good fluff piece.

  • @navylaks2

    I have never understood why people are fascinated by it, it's always off-key

    • @charlierae8266
      @charlierae8266 Před rokem +2

      It's not off key. They use whole, half, quarter and 1/8th notes. You need a more refined musical ear to understand & appreciate. Then you'll blown away by its complexity. They also use more rhythms than Western music. Only India has more. They have completely a different musical scale called maquams. There are numerous, where we just have major & minor (two). That's why you think it's off key.

    They are musicians because they are musicians - sounds like caste system.
