everything just happens so fast, its all so simple and not in depth. She gets dumped, quits, gets contacted by her uncle, moves, falls in love with reading, makes friends, gets close to her uncle, stays there for six months, heals, confronted her ex, find a place and a job, and moves out all in less than half of the book 😭 in like 70 pages
really feels like watching someone speedrunning a game by skipping all the cutscenes 😂
This is exactly why i was searching for reviews about this book. I really felt like there wasn't much happening in the book. Or rather, everything happened too fast. The time leaps, the emotions etc. Most importantly, i didnt feel that connection with that apparently beautiful bookshop. I didnt feel like her stay at the bookshop had any effect on her. If i am not wrong, there are references to only very few "books" in a book that revolves around a bookshop! Anyhow, The coverpage is exquisite❤
glad that it's not only me then lol, if you want a book that get the vibe of the bookstore and the characters much better i'd recommend "hyunnam dong bookstore" and the short story collection "what you're looking for is at the library" i also covered both of them on my channel
Absolutely, not sure if it is a case of lost in translation or the original text also lacked depth and emotions.
i think the translator did a great job. but yes, it is possible that some of the prose like quality of the original writing are lost in translation, though i doubt it since my main issue is with the pacing
Dude you are sooo on point, thank you for this review..All my rage has cooled down by listening to your words...Such a time waste this book was ugh
i honestly has mostly forgotten about this book and i usually remember little bits of what i read, that's how forgettable it is 😅
Well explained❤
Thank You❤️
