Yeah, she's the understudy. But the actress who usually portrays Ursula is also pretty awesome. She's called Marjolijn Touw and she actually voiced Morgana in the Dutch version of TLM II.
Actually contrary to popular belief ursula is a squid and therefore only has six legs, you can see this in the origianal movie. the reason? the animators proboally thought less tentacles was easier. it is a common mistake though
Amazing costume! The tentacles have great movement, and they're even proportioned to her body. I couldn't help noticing something just didn't seem right until all the legs came together for an easy count... she only has six legs, but she's an OCTOpus, as in eight legs. Still... excellently done!
HAHAHAHAHA that hair though on ariel! I mean come on! I totally understand what they were going for. Cause hair doesn't stay down when your under water! But It doesn't stick up like a damn cone either!! lol. Theres no way i would have been able to sit quietly watching ariel sing with that hair. What they could have done was use like a wire wig and have it like wave outward. shoot even ursalas hair looks better than hers. lmaoo. omg. but on another note this performance was pretty good!! :)
What I loved about this Ursula is that she moves around the stage (and around Ariel) like in the Disney movie, trying to "seduce" her to sign. The Broadway performance is great as well but Ursula doesn't move so much.

Sorry I don't have any video but I could describe it for you. They showed Ariel swimming and her tail fell off, revealed legs and she swam towards the stage left. Quite the same as the broadway production.
But now is the alternate Ursula first cast. Marjolijn Touw has leaving this production because she has another job in the future. And now plays Ellis van Laarhoven Ursula. And she does it great!!
Looks so much better then the Broadway production, this looks like and feels closer to the cartoon than the Broadway show did.
Ursula's costume is incredible! So much better than the Broadway musical, and I love who portrays her. I don't understand her but she's magnificent!

I hate how Ariel's hair goes upward. I know it is realistic, but its distracting.
Remember though, on stage you can't see it as close up. Watching it in a theatre it probably looks better.
