Great video Simon, thanks! I feel like I'm heading in the right direction when I see you using a mold like that... my first one was about the same, but melamine scraps and clamps... feels so low tech but early days for me have been a lot about creating the 'building blocks' for making stuff. Now I have a press, I think I might upgrade my mold with some bolts this week and hunt around for a local turner who's keen to have a go at making a pen... you've inspired me :-)
That is awesome to hear. Don't be afraid of low-tech to keep costs down. I am all about that exact thing. Keep going, as you learn more you can slowly progress your skills and the materials that you use.

Nice job on the pens! Do you friction fit them to the brass tube like brothers make did when they made a plastic slim line pen?
I tried friction fitting but I found that it bent the end of the copper tube that was being forced through the plastic, which resulted in a poor fit when assembling the final product. I now use plastic specific glues (eg - www.selleys.com.au/products/adhesives/minor-repairs/selleys-power-grip-all-plastics/)
