    Glad you're being safe with the straps in the trailer. Hauled nothing but paper rolls for a good number of years and never once threw a strap in the trailer. Never had an issue with them moving either, the rubber mats on the floor generally prevents movement. As you've probably noticed you need to take curves and turns slower due to the height of the rolls. Hope this helps you. Keep on truckin and keep the shiny side up.

    • @mikefeddersen2476
      @mikefeddersen2476 Před 11 měsíci +9

      First load of paper rolls 11 years ago, 6 at roughly 7,000 pounds each. They put them on the rubber mats.
      I go to the truck stop and weigh my tandems, everything is perfect.
      As I am driving down the interstate someone cuts across 3 lanes of traffic, I thought I just tapped the brakes.
      300 miles later I pull across a scale near Menomonee Wisconsin, my little tap shifted 3 rolls and now I am 4800 pounds over on drivers. $995 fine, company paid it, but I should have known somehow... F JB Hunt .

This makes for wonderful Viewing i have never witnessed anyone agonizing over every single piece of minutiae associated with a truck wether it is picking up/ delivering/ fueling/ parking for the night / parking for a break / parking to go into a Walmart!! It’s exhausting watching him get tied in knots just thinking about some of this stuff, and as for parking up at 3-4:00 in the afternoon that’s fine,but get up early enough to compensate for whatever may come up , getting lost , traffic , getting lost , stopping for a break and don’t forget getting lost will also help with being late for an appointment. Thus the issue you have with traffic is going to be considerably worse. There are 49 other states to haul to, your not going to or from New York still leaves you with the same basic issue's in all of the rest, but not to the degree, where you fill the heat your feeling.

I drove doubles most of the time but did haul 40', 45', 48' and 53' straight trailers often as well. The only thing that sucked was having to 'haunt' the Chicago area rail yards just to get freight. Had to do that a couple of times per week on the worst weeks. You OTR drivers are awesome.

    As for getting cut off. I am from NYC area, trust me, when people act selfish and rude, they mean it. Its jsut the way it is. LIke a lot of people/things, unless someone actually has experience doing something (like being a truck driver), they just don't get it (or don't care). People from the NYC city area are voted the rudest in America, year after year. It never occurs to people that are rude to truck drivers that they rely on truck drivers to deliver their goods (sometimes medicine), especially now more then ever. Self Driving Trucks are NEVER GOING To happen on a large scale, these projects that you seen tech companies pitching is just that, a project to get venture capital funding, so these tech companies can spending the next 10 or 15 years doing research/product development but never implement their ideas on scale. And America will never go back to using trains to shipping goods on a mass scale either (its just the American culture, we don't live in the 'United' States of America, we live in the 'Fragmented' states of America, where each state competes with other states).
