      I think the reason why ratchet wasn’t angry at clank is mainly because clank built the dimentionator to find his family and the other lombaxes and plus I think it’d be step down off ratchet getting pissed at clank cause he was trying to help him and plus they’ve been on so many adventures together and not to mention ratchet had grown a lot while being with clank. I mean that’s my opinion but him getting angry over clank would just be stupid to me.

      Blame Illumination, Sony Animation and more these days for doing it. Thats the humour inspirations right there. We can't have adult jokes in films anymore because I assume it was too much in the mid 2000's or something for parents and people had to change them to be dumber and making poop, fart or just bland characterisation in kids films a thing. Whatever dumb kid logic they can come up with as well as changes with the times for the worst. Never seen it in Pixar ever and they are the 1 western movie studio I can still stand unlike Blue Sky (dead now) and any others that did and probably still do it.
      We had crude and fairly suitable for all ages depending on the joke changed to overly childish and enjoyed by no one teen and up. Even in Anime I can watch a kids show and still laugh, I can't do that with any western kids shows or films as they just love to jump at any culturally relevant nonsense or talking down to viewers too much.
      Big Bang to me seemed just as crude and nerd stereotypes in the beginning before changing to a more mainstream stale style later on the more characters, standard family shows end up being.

    • @MPHswayze
      @MPHswayze Před 11 měsíci

      R&C 2016 was great! One of my favorite ps4 games. The biggest criticisms of it were: the game length was very short, the story was corny, and as a remake of the original 2002 game it didn't "add" enough "new content." None of those things are really an issue enjoying a new console trying out the best PlayStation games. You were just happy to play such a fun game. Ratchet is one of the only series I love that equals Mario and Rayman

  • @claytondykstra
    @claytondykstra Před rokem +3

    I've watched many of reviews of ToD, and every criticism is fair. But it seems like the R&C community has come to this hive-mind conclusion that ToD is this monstrous disappointment that derailed the whole franchise. I don't see it that way at all. It was a great game and it was modestly responsible for continuing the legacy into the next generation. I definitely get the criticisms - I have many of my own as well - but it saddens me to see it get used as a standard for a game that disappoints after the first playthrough.

    And about Rift apart being the last, Its said that its the first in the trilogy that will be on ps5, so expect two other Ratchet and Clank games on the ps5. Every story needs to come to its end, but it feels like even if the story ends, you could still technically continue it.

    It's very interesting to compare this video with the recent Dunkey video. I do agree more with you rather than comparing Rift Apart to Cars 2 and Doom Eternal.
    I definitely agree about the raritanium, it just feels like there's an extra step inbetween upgrading my weapons. I will say though I'm not the biggest fan of the weapons in Rift Apart since there's alot of overlap. Doom blades feel like a worse gun than lightning storm. The burst pistol gets out classed by the black hole machine gun. The warmonger rocket launcher is us a worse version of the drill hound since it can't multi lockon. And it has 4 weapons that just auto attack enemies; bombardier, Mr fungi, glove of doom and topiary sprinkler. Finally the RYNO 8 is definitely the lamest big final gun in a while. It can clear some weak enemies, but unless you get a direct hit on bosses it doesn't do much, just feels more like an Easter egg gun for Sony games.

      I think at least on this game there is an option to replace the sixaxis motion with the right analog stick, unlike Folklore for example. I am not a "motion hater", I think it can be cool sometimes, but the Sixaxis was terrible in every game it was supported.

      It doesn't as far as I can tell, no setting for it or any feeling, only Triggers and Haptive Feedback. Not even Touchpad support or I think even the Mic either. I'm disappointed honestly. To me Nintendo consoles or the odd Devs willing to from PS4 games are the only ones worth caring about enhancements to games. Sony just don't bother. I'd love it if they did add Gyro to many of their games, I'm right there with you. Even Horizon I'm surprised doesn't with the bow. I like Splatoon and Botw for the gyro aiming on Wii U and loved used Gyro with Galgun or Gravity Rush or certain Vita games.

    • @teneesh3376
      @teneesh3376 Před 3 lety

      @@suntannedduck2388 I think all we can do is tell developers to add it. Cause the main reason why they don't is because either they don't know what it is, or they don't know that a lot of people want it
      If we can get enough people to ask politely, then they may add it. I mean, the Last of Us part 2 has it
      Also, I'm glad they don't use the mic. There's nothing a mic can do that pressing a button can do more efficiently in singleplayer games. It should only be used chat, voice search and nothing else.
      But the touchpad is something they could use. Granted, in steam, it's really only used as more buttons. But that's still kinda useful. Maybe using a touch menu for more weapons shortcuts

    • @suntannedduck2388

      @@teneesh3376 They know what it is. There was Sixaxis controls in Tools Of Destruction and A Crack In Time for certain weapons or the Glider. They haven't use Gyro since though to my knowledge. But I haven't played the new Spiderman games either.
      I think they don't think many people use it. Even polls state people don't care about it from videos I've seen by people that do care about Gyro (at least in Nerrel's video I remember, not checked out too many others or the results outside that). But I agree there is an audience for it out there. I did not know Last Of Us 2 had it. I know it had the Guitar touchpad minigame though. Glad to know Naughty Dog added it. I didn't played it but I know from footage/know of someone that played it. I still wonder if IR with the Gyro is better though as I've been exploring Red Steel 2 and more Wii games I missed besides the few PS3 with Sixaxis, Move or 3DS/Wii U games with it.
      Mics I think are great for audio logs at least but otherwise used besides a headset in multiplayer or search yes.
      I think the swiping is great. Besides Killzone Shadowfall for the robot. Galgun for its touch minigames which really challenged me and I have no idea how much better on Vita it must be with a larger Touchpad length compared to the Dualshock 4's being really small (besides decent Gyro support), using half the touchpad for different buttons in Nier Automata (1 inventory the other something else I forget). I think swiping is fine but using the 2 halves or 4 quadrants is great. I liked the quadrants for sprinting and otherwise in certain Vita games but the corners were usually used so it got awkward sometimes rather than beneficial. I know Steam can use the Dualshock 4 in really cool ways and I appreciate that. Never used one that way but still good just like pro contrillers or the backbutton attachment to have the extra inputs. I assume that attachment isn't recognised on steam is it? I should get one and find out I think. I assume one is still available at one of my local stores.
      The touchpad for selecting weapons would be cool, instead of the D-Pad or changing the Triggers/Haptic levels without needing the menu, the hoverboot charging besides using L2 would have been cool or something really clever. Ah the possibilities!!! Astrobot still seems like the game that uses it in good and bad ways and knows how. Rift Apart could have done similar and improved on the better areas Astro did good with Gyro when using a bow, Touchpad in interesting ways but it seems they wanted to focus on other things instead or don't consider the audience for the past controller features maybe. That or its too small an audience and needs to get bigger. At most besides the few games I use the touchpad to skip tv series intros when watching DVDs & Blu-Rays just because its fun and to give it some use. XD

      @@suntannedduck2388 the thing about polls on the internet. When audiences talk about it, it's usually people who are actively searching for it and not the general population. Also with the poll that is shown in Nerrel's video, that's an older one. A newer one by the same site shows better reception with a more votes
      But the point is that the people who vote on those are people who are actively invested in gyro aiming. Whether it be people who love it or hate it. And the few inbetweeners just going through the internet
      Also with the ps3 ratchet and clank games, sure. They have motion controls. But it wasn't gyro aiming. It was just moving ratchet when skydiving or something. So there's a chance they just don't know about it. Or them not knowing people want it. Hard to say without the developers saying it. We can only assume
      And swiping is okay. Honestly the touchpad intergration is a take it or leave situation. It doesn't really change how the game plays. Only making things a little more convient. Gyro aiming however, give it me as an option
      I'm just taking doom on the switch as a reference. It got gyro aiming because a lot people asked for it. Always with switch games. I wished the same thing goes for sony games. Kinda a 50 50 chance.
      This last part is a rant, so ignore if you don't care. I'm mad that classic Doom 1, 2 and 64 have gyro aiming on the ps4, but eternal doesn't. What, WHY? I'm sorry. Bethesda. WHAT?!

      @@teneesh3376 Fair points made, agreed the pole was old, I should check newer ones, can completely see why that and other factors would be the case. I won't deny that early Sixaxis was not great. Even Heavenly Sword with the crossbow your directing a bolt/arrow the same way as Ratchet in those sections rather than effecting the aiming (its weird but the aiming in that game wasn't that easy sometimes depending on the scene/level so navigating the arrows was a good thing) so it does feel just as odd as Wii waggle actions yes rather than smart use of it. I think Resistance 3 or Killzone 3 with the Move may have been good but my Move stuffs up on PS3 after its connected to PS4 or my Mini USB cable isn't working too great, no clue yet so can't try those again any time soon but I do remember Killzone 3 being great like a more active gallery shooting experience once I finally got a PS Eye for cheap and played a bit of the first level again. But of course Vita and Dualshock 4 use Sixaxis still just better so it took time to learn the right ways to use it like with any new technology.
      Don't have a Switch but I bet Doom on Switch is great and the gyro aiming is worth it even for the graphical differences. Is unfortunate none for the older titles but I assume it was supposed to be a simple port job and thats ir.

    I like that the weapon upgrades you get in RA don't actually increase the weapons damage output and they remain the same level of power. When you level up the weapon it instead unlocks more raritanium upgrade tree spaces you can make at the vendor which upgrade things like rate of fire, max ammo, area of affect and bonuses that let you target more enemies etc. It helps the weapons remain balanced and viable through the whole game I found, the older games always had the problem of the early weapons becoming useless after a certain point because they did barely any damage to the enemies and they became damage sponges. I believe they designed it like this intentionally in the earlier games to encourage players to buy new weapons but I think this way is a better compromise without hard nerfing the early weapons, I mean I feel like by now people don't need to be forced to buy new weapons in a RaC game. The enemies do still get stronger as you progress through the game and that incentive to buy stronger weapons is still there, but things like the shatterbomb and enforcer you get in the prologue still remain very useful,so I think they met a good middle ground in this game.

      In terms of what? To me the hover boots, the arena and the Dimensionater/Lombax meeting is similar to A Crack In Time but the rest of the using of the ship, humour and more is fairly common, 2016 like still and otherwise caught up. Either way it remixes AGAIN (sometimes in fun fan service ways with characters in others less interesting like the Buzz Blades for the fifth or sixth time we have had that weapon now, that type of annoying) but has a few new things that are alright but not as cool as A Crack In Time I find at least. Visiting Sargasso (second level) got boring quick even for a second visit I'll say that. To me Rift Apart even for playing about 4-5 levels besides seeing someone else in my family play the story. I find it less interesting then a Crack In Time. Ratchet to me still feels like he is better but still 2016 weak, he isn't a nerd but his dialogue is either telling the player or average, less interesting then A Crack In Time or other PS3 entries, very 2010's kids movie generic while Rivet actually talks better and makes the game more interesting due to who she encounters.

    • @roiking2740

Rivet is a classic example of a merry sue character.
      meanwhile a crack in time has a tone of freaking risks taken. it had ratchet been betrayed and two people dying one of them been the main protagonist. in comparison a rift apart is a toddler movie !
      don't get me wrong this is not unsalvageable you can still make Rivet a good character but you have to give her a significant flaw in the next game. Kit is less worse than Rivet in comparison but she still needs more than just "not wanting to hurt people because of unknown reason"

    Gotta be honest, there was a difference between my expectations and why I clicked on this video versus what was delivered.
    In terms of why I clicked: I saw a spoiler free review, I like your videos enough to have subscribed a while back. I have bought and played through about half of Rift Apart so far. I wanted to see if our opinions matched or differed.
    What I got: Fair play, you gave a time code for skipping the preamble, which seems to be half of the video. That section felt more like a channel update. I'm not sure if you were trying to set context or something but I did know half the content wasn't what I came here for. You were lambasting your 16 year old self and showing me Devil May Cry footage.
    So we get to 15:14 and we're talking about Ratchet & Clank 2016. I know you mention, during the Spider-Man bit, that you feel it's important context, but the gold I came here for is buried in the closing 10 minutes and even then, it feels like there are a lot of tangents.
    I think that's going to harm watch time, retention, and other key metrics. Maybe this could have been two videos with two different goals rather than the combination we got? I'm not trying to discourage you, but I do want to give you insight as a viewer.

      Was thinking about this comment. I think an important reason why this video failed when it comes to views, is the fact that in hindsight, it doesn't have an appeal. This video came out exactly how *I* wanted it to. However, I didn't think of what an audience might want to see. As two separate videos, it definitely would have worked out a lot better. It basically is two videos as the first half was made in May and the second half was made this week. The first half was changed a lot from it's original version to better match the fact that there were some things I said that would be completely irrelevant by the game coming out and being really good. As two different videos, I think there is an appeal to both, but as one video, there isn't. Like, I have thought about changing the title to just being about how Rift Apart was really good, but the entire first half is then something completely out of nowhere. Not many ways to win here. Probably won't do a video like this again.
