I am creating an Audi S4 Ownership series of videos covering everything you need to know about the B8 Audi S4 and owning one! In this video we compare the S4 and A4 and talk about the differences, and how the S4 is an upgrade over the regular level Audi A4! Comment below if there is some specific question you need answered or video you would like to see! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Just got my b8.5 S4 same as yours! Interior and everything, love it
Great video Eddie. This is awesome for the average consumer to see, as well as the enthusiast like myself. I've been giving serious consideration to going to a B8.5 S4 for over a month now for a lot of reasons. I'm currently in an 09 CC Executive VR6 4motion and it's a great car. Very compliant, comfortable, and very respectable fuel economy on long drives (hit just over 28 mpg driving from Oregon to San Jose, CA a few months back). But I miss the sharper feeling of a more performance oriented vehicle. I look forward to more S4 related content as that's very much what I'm looking for right now as I give more thought to making the jump from VW to Audi.
Sounds like you are thinking through it carefully! Feel free to send me an email if you want to discuss further! Would be happy to answer questions and help you decide if you want to jump into a B8.5 S4! eddiex616@gmail.com
One goes WHAAAAA and the other goes PSHHH
accurate lol
That's all what i wanted to know
Hilarious 🤣
Eddie I absolutely love my 2014 S4. I fell in love with the Audi brand a few years ago and after you and Parker went and got yours, I decided the S4 was what I had to have. I have the same exact spec as yours but mine is glacier white. Drove 850 miles round trip to get it. One of the best purchases of my life hands down. Coming from mostly Japanese cars my life and my previous car was an Infiniti Q50, the switch to a German car was night and day. The build quality, the solid feel of everything. The attention to detail and engineering. Most importantly, the drive. Nothing I've ever had drives like the S4. It's a real enthusiasts car in family 4 door clothing which works for me with 2 kids. The supercharged V6 is a Ward's 10 best engine. The DCT shifts are supercar quick and it's a blast to drive daily. Quattro is amazing. After my warranty runs out I'm getting an APR stage 1 tune and exhaust for little more fun!
That is awesome man! Happy to hear you love your car, I love mine too!
I'm thinking between an A4 Quattro vs S4. I know the S4 is faster and handles better, but the A4 Quattro is no slouch, with a 5.2 second 0-60. (The video is apparently quoting the FWD version of the A4).
Thanks Eddie, really enjoy these guides 😅🤓
I love my Audi S4. It's such an underrated car. Total sleeper. I kept up with a Mustang GT putting down 600HP a few weeks ago. All the S4s power hits the ground.
What mods on your S4 👀
Does it burn a hole in your pocket though? I’m considering buying one
Is a high maintenance car ?
Your Audi ain’t shock tho
The audi S4 2014 I just bought last week is the sickest car I've ever experienced. It's absolutely insane. Launch control scared the fuck out of me. 2 different worlds
The s4 is a amazing car I own one and it’s fun to drive sends u back in your seat
Bro I cant go the speed limit. Its so fun to drive that i go 80-100 mph on regular streets in broad day. I fucking love my s4!!! Its so fucking fast
a4 - FWD/AWD
s4 - 300+ hp
styling: 2:13
- body is mostly the same, slightly more aggressive grill
- quad exhausts tips on s4
interior benefits on s4
- some carbon fiber
- better leather
performance
- this is where the s4 shines
- drive select: change the suspension/differential
a4 - 34$ vs $45
I love my 2015 A4 B8,5 1.8 TFSI Avant S Line. It is a nice car to drive and looks good.
Kind of an old topic, outside of the US there are A4's with apparently the basically same drivetrain, minus the optional diff i believe, and of course, "detuned" to only 272hp, nice video, kind of frustrating having a car (trim) that not many people have lol.
I’ve had my A4 B8 2010 since 2013. I’ve put performance tune, upgraded exhaust and it’s over 300hp and absolutely rips it now. 7 years and I love it just as much if not more than the day I bought it. It’s been so reliable too. Just regular maintenance, brakes and suspension changes from all the miles. Best car I’ve ever owned and at 53 I’ve owned a lot.
I Recently got a 2014 A4 Quattro Prestige, I had no idea what I was getting into... I was, and still am a bit a Lexus guy... Of course you here controversies of German reliability. However, since then I have seen very little if not any shitting on the Audi 3 series line up, especially the newer they get... Ended up with a Model that is in reasonable contrast to the stigma.
I’m on the fence on getting the S4 because of mixed reviews of about their reliability. There’s a 2011 for sale for $10k has about 101,000 miles. What should I look for when buying one of these so they’ll last a long time
@@CasualSpec hey man I’m a Lexus guy as well, was it well worth it getting into a Audi?
Love the videos keep them coming please everyone support the channel make sure you hit the thumbs up for our guy Eddie to keep this content coming
Thanks for the support!
I have an A4 B8 and with tune and bolt on they are very underrated fast cars. If I had to choose from start I’ll pick the S4. Those cars with stage 2 tune are close to supercar fast well over 400 hp and that Supercharger sounds sweet. They are also called baby GTR with the way it sounds with after market exhaust.
rented one on turo and you are right.
Really cool video, since my mom drives a 2014 A4!
Nice!
@@fade680 no
I’m trying to pick between the b9 series. Seems like you can upgrade everything yourself on a a4 & pretty much have an s4 for cheaper.
The A4 would be a perfect affordable daily driver
It is a very good option!
"Affordable" ... 😂😂😂
No the s 4 is more reliable than the a4. The 3.0 supercharged is Very good engine
I call bullshit
I wouldn’t call it affordable for the average person, but if you make 6 figures you could make it happen
4:47 the S-line A4 come with a S-Line badge as well, actually. At the bottom spoke of the steering wheel.
Youre not wrong, but not totally right either. His is a 2013, mine is a 2014 Quattro S-line Prestige package. It comes with 2 fender badges, and 4 kick plate badges. For my year and lower for atleast the B8.5, DO NOT have the S line badge on the steering wheel. My steering wheel has 4 pillars opposed to the 3 pillar steering wheel I think they impliment in the 2015 and newer for that generation. My steering wheel, even thoughbis an S line, has the exact same steering wheel as this A4.
Instrument Cluster is also different. Great Video BTW
You are right, minor differences. When I was editing I noticed the dials are different colored. Thanks!
And I also A4 but in petrol with a 1.6 and the body was a lot it was surprisingly quick compared to TDI
Very cool video, I had A4 50tfsi with sline equipment so was wondering why it was not called S4 :)
can you make a video on flash tuning both, and what you get?
Perfect review
Would an A4 be a better daily? The S4 is really cool but if I was going to buy a car for a daily driver, would the A4 be more liveable?
Can someone please confirm if B8.5 A4 and S4 use same headlights and the fenders? I am fixing my S4 and wondering if I can use A4 parts? Thanks!!!
How can you reduce the suspension harshness on these ?
In a future video, can you discuss the differences that you notice between sports diff and non sports diff models?
I actually haven't driven one without the sports diff, everyone I know who purchased one has the sports diff. Based on what I've read, its absolutely a requirement. It really helps make the car better to drive, allowing some amount of oversteer and putting the power down. You can feel it working
Eddie review the Buick Tourx when you have a chance?
Hit the thumbs up 👍🏻 great video
According to a tuning company, a A4 2.0 with a stage 1 software tune will be faster than a stock S4 3.0. I think they're called Revo.
One is fast and the other one is fast af.
Fast 😂
I'd say the S4 is just about medium fast lol. Fast af is reserved for things like an E63
200hp was only considered fast in the 80s
That's true. Definitely can modify them to make them pretty seriously quick!
EddieX or RS4 ... also a fast af car
In europe you can get the a4 b8.5 2.0T quattro with 225 hp and s-tronic transmission. A stage 1 get's you to 300hp that is from $300 to $500 and if you make the turbo hybrid , catalyser upgrade and sport air filter you get over 340 hp , maybe stronic remap and i guess you are much faster than an s4 and lighter. What do you think?
What does the red i next to the badge S4 mean?
hi, I have a 2013 S4, but I do not have the drive select. No where to be found. Is this normal? i haven't checked with the dealer, because I know for sure they will charge me for a simple answer that you might provide for FREE. Since you are very knowledgeable. thx
That’s a nice A4 😍
Do you miss it tho? Haha
EddieX as much as I want to say I do, the new car makes it hard to think about the past haha
B8.5 A5 has sleeker design than A4
Do you know why my s4 keeps coming up as a a4 when i run the vin number? I mean my s4 comes with the features the s4 on the video shows
I got a fully optioned out A4... the original owner paid close to price of a base S4 for it 😐 The interior is really nice and pristine and it came in brilliant black (can’t get that colour on A4s anymore) with 2 tone leather and alcantara seats. If the turbo ever blows, I’ll slap a S4 engine in it and a new transmission instead of scrapping the car.
Are the springs on the both cars the same...?
What year is this A4? whats the black on top of it? is that wrap?
Didn't hear a mention of the sports differential on the S4 if this one was equipped with one. I think the diff assists in balancing out the under steering nature of the platform and sharpens turn in for the S4.
Yes my S4 had the sports diff. Definitely want that
I have owned the Audi A4 beautiful mine was an s line, those of you who know will no what's the difference,. But the dual flywheel was temperamental to giving some people I know even got them taking out and just used a slightly heavier flywheel
The S4 is faster, but 0-60 in 5.2 seconds is still very quick for the A4.
I had the choice between buying a new A4 vs S3 back in November for about the same price. I chose the S3. I decided last week that I wanted an SUV and traded the S3 for almost what I paid for it. If I had picked the A4 it would have been worth $7000+ less!!! Reason I say this is the S4, like the S3, is really the better one to buy new at least. They hold their values way better.
That's a good point, from a depreciation standpoint the more rare and desirable S models will hold better.
Buy the S4!!! I have the B8 with the stage 1 Integrated Engineering tune as well as the DSG tune. I’d definitely recommend doing the DSG tune when you go stage 1. I did the DSG tune a few months after I did the ECU tune and was pretty mad I didn’t do it sooner. These cars are quick off the line stock… Now, absolutely ridiculous. With the tunes, intake and exhaust it puts my car at close to 450hp. Worth every penny. The A4 is a luxury sedan. The S4 with the 3.0T is a wolf in sheep’s clothing with amazing potential with the tunes available.
Didn’t you say you were selling the S4 over 8 months ago?
Eddie with the Yeezys
Love my 2009 a4 prestige line first car for me in 17 wish I had an s model but little by little maybe when I’m 20 by then the b10 would be out 😂
Get a b8.5 s4 bro
Yo keep doing car reviews please
Would an S4 with a tune vs a stock RS4 matter much? What's the difference between them apart from the power boost and slightly different looks?
I believe the B8 RS4 used the same engine as the RS5, so the 4.2L NA V8, so that would be a pretty different character. You could get the S4 to just as fast, but that V8 would feel different and sound completely different.
If the A4 is S-Line it will have the dual exhaust, also I do not know what year are these are my s line looked a lot better looking even the body looked a bit nicer???
I have drive select in my AUDI A4 Avant facelift
I have a black s4. Shes a fun car 🎉
What brand do you recommend for tuning on the S4?
I've driven an APR one and was very impressed, every APR tuned car I have experienced has been excellent. I would check out the forums (Audizine) for more feedback on tuning!
I got myself the 2014 A4 that has the s-line & sport package, steering, seats, suspension and with B&O system, full MMI. Only difference is exhaust and engine. I love it! Although I wouldve liked if Audi would've put a little more aggressive sound to it lol. All of it for $14k CDN 😁
I just got the exact model recently from the dealership for around $18K CDN. Had 73 000km on it. Curious to know how you got such a great deal.
Can u share some of the problems u hat with the car? I Plan on buying one 🤔
@@rainerzufall7014 No problems so far. I'm at 260k km on it now and I haven't had one problem. If you'd want more power, I'd go S4.
Where I live, the A4 reaches the speed limit in about 2.5 seconds. Maybe I should upgrade?
No lol, the newer A4s are actually pretty fast.
i donno bout america but the a4 has the v6 compressor (same engine) with 272hp as an option. buy a tune, grille, and seats and you got an s4 - but 10k cheaper.
have the b8.5 s5 and b9 a4 both are great. love em
Nice! Could you pick which one is your favorite?
@@EddieX probably my a4 quick enough fuel efficient and comfortable. I travel between MI and NY often and the s5 on route 75 pretty brutal lol.
For that kind of drive, I'm sure the newer A4 would be preferred!
EddieX what does b8 and the letter “b” mean ? i get so confused when ppl say b8 s4?
Does the B8.5 A4 suffer from the high oil consumption issues earlier B8's have?
Look up the B8/B8.5 A4 buyers guide on Audizine. 2012 or 2013 and up is a good choice. Just avoid the CVT.
Why is you not just go for the A6?
What do you think about between an S3 & S4? Worth the extra bucks to get the S4?
S3 has a different type of all-wheel drive called haldex awd which is more front-wheel biased. S3 is a 4 cylinder, less practical in terms of space, and arguably is less attractive in design than the S4. You might spend the next 3 years of S3 ownership regretting that or spend the extra bucks for the S4.
I'm a BMW guy, but I do like the way Audis look too
The B9 platform significantly overhauled the interior (more functional and modern) and drive-train (EA888 Gen 3B 2.0T, 7-speed DCT), and is the only platform worth considering IMO. You can get a good condition B9 A4 with 15k miles for $23k out the door.
The interior of the B9 is much more modern and nicer than the B8, I 100% agree. But I would take the 3.0L Supercharged V6 in the S4/S5 over a 2.0L EA888 every single day of the week.
Eddie, can the two dock with eachother? How much docking?
What.
Glad I bought one 💪
Should have done A6 vs S4
Yeezy.
Wow looking at the interior it seems dated for only being 4 years ago...i love my 2018 s5 with the digital dash its great!
The new interior is way more modern! That is definitely true
Glad you like it, I'm considering a S5 either in coupe or sportback
The B8.5 change didn't bring major interior updates and the interior spans back to the B8 A4 which launched in 2007 as a 2008 model year vehicle.
I agree. The interior looks 10 year old already.
Show Me What I Need To Know because the design is actually like 12 years old and not 4 years
Audi's are nice all season performance luxury cars. Is Audi planning to bring the Rs4 back? If so I'd be all over it!
We get the RS5 coupe and rs5 Sportback. The rs4 avante is not coming to America :/
Tanks im gona buy a Toyota
B5 and B6 convertible Very 🍒 don’t like other models except 2019 tt or always the R8 any trim style Ultimate 🍒
The S4 is definitely worth the extra cost over the A4.
100% agree
How about a4 vs s4 reliability?
naw you don't buy these cars for reliability, you buy it for the wonderful drive and luxury. For reliability, you should stick with the Japanese cars
Really it comes down to, what do you eventually want to pay for. Engine in car maintenence? Or the rather more expensive Engine out of the car Maintenance, if you dont care about people questioning the size of your balls, get the best of both worlds, S3... but at that point, A4 plus simple tune, would probably end up being overall better maybe... and possibly cheaper.
Or with what the guy above me said, like a Lexus, Acura, or maybe Infiniti if youre wanting that platform.
The S4 b8.5 supercharged engine is the best. Worth it. Put it in sport mode and haul ass
Always liked the S models because it a a little taste of both worlds and staying within means.
RS is way to expensive and A is lacking the looks and power.
Why do so many people do s cars vs a cars videos?
So it's like in Anime. The ones ranked S is stronger than the A's
I would be fine with the 190hp A4 diesel. The S4 is excellent, but it just isn't sporty enough for me. The rest of the money would go for a miata or a bike.
That is also a possible option, I chose the S4 as a good combination of practical daily driver that had some amount of sportiness.
That A4 looks soooo delicious 🤤🤤🤤
Haha, the RS grille?
@@EddieX everything
Anybody close to Alabama looking for a project?? I have 2 2010 a4 (one black, one blue) both right at 100k. One wrecked in the front but runs and another that over heated but never involved in any accidents. Make me an offer!!
are those boost 350?
Most comfortable shoes I've ever owned!
EddieX 💯
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Id love a s4 , but the fuel
Economy 😂
Deal breaker
B9 A4 or B8.5 S4
in the same spot as you
Bro, you should have brought in the allroad, or a4 avant 😕
Why? I wanted the supercharged engine and the DCT. If we got the RS4 Avante here I probably would have bought one of those tho
@@EddieX there are solutions like apr etc, but yes, it doesn't replace the uniqueness of an powerful factory wagon
What do you think about Parker’s new Mclaren 600LT?
It's purple
Common thing between the two, their reliability is iffy, at best.
My S4 was fine
S4 = s line a4 3.0t plus optional sport diff
basic or performance >S4
Is it even a question that a s4 is better than a A4?
In europe there is 90% of diesel A4 , so if you have S4 there is a big difference.
Ah I see, I don't think we got the diesel version here. We definitely won't be getting anymore diesels after the whole scandal
The red Napa leather looks terrible, I have black on white alcantera and black stains wood grain.
98% of the consumer will never really take advantage of any of those performance features
I'm in the 2%. Thank you Audi. :)
It’s a shame that the b9 is nowhere near as good as the b8.
Agreed. I drove a B9 and it lost something. Its quick for sure, but I like the supercharged V6 better and the B8.5 interior better.
I wanted to really like the B9 S4, but it didn't instill any sort of excitement or emotional attachment for me. I prefer my car to drive!
how can my man wear yeezys with those pants lmao
Refer to above video
Nawww just get an AE86
I just pick an A4 B8 for 2500 $. With only a busted grill and bumper.
I own a B6 s4 6spd such an amazing car never will I own an a4.
That a4 looks a lot better than your s4 :( I’m sorrry
Makes me a bit sad that you pay quite a bit extra for the S4 than the A4, aaand you get extra performance but you still get A4 like looks. I own a G37 sedan and am planning to step into an S4 but I just can't get over the fact that people will think I'm whipping around an A4😫😕
A4 s4 n'a ti une plus forte que lautre
