I am creating an Audi S4 Ownership series of videos covering everything you need to know about the B8 Audi S4 and owning one! In this video we compare the S4 and A4 and talk about the differences, and how the S4 is an upgrade over the regular level Audi A4! Comment below if there is some specific question you need answered or video you would like to see!

Great video Eddie. This is awesome for the average consumer to see, as well as the enthusiast like myself. I've been giving serious consideration to going to a B8.5 S4 for over a month now for a lot of reasons. I'm currently in an 09 CC Executive VR6 4motion and it's a great car. Very compliant, comfortable, and very respectable fuel economy on long drives (hit just over 28 mpg driving from Oregon to San Jose, CA a few months back). But I miss the sharper feeling of a more performance oriented vehicle. I look forward to more S4 related content as that's very much what I'm looking for right now as I give more thought to making the jump from VW to Audi.

Eddie I absolutely love my 2014 S4. I fell in love with the Audi brand a few years ago and after you and Parker went and got yours, I decided the S4 was what I had to have. I have the same exact spec as yours but mine is glacier white. Drove 850 miles round trip to get it. One of the best purchases of my life hands down. Coming from mostly Japanese cars my life and my previous car was an Infiniti Q50, the switch to a German car was night and day. The build quality, the solid feel of everything. The attention to detail and engineering. Most importantly, the drive. Nothing I've ever had drives like the S4. It's a real enthusiasts car in family 4 door clothing which works for me with 2 kids. The supercharged V6 is a Ward's 10 best engine. The DCT shifts are supercar quick and it's a blast to drive daily. Quattro is amazing. After my warranty runs out I'm getting an APR stage 1 tune and exhaust for little more fun!

I'm thinking between an A4 Quattro vs S4. I know the S4 is faster and handles better, but the A4 Quattro is no slouch, with a 5.2 second 0-60. (The video is apparently quoting the FWD version of the A4).

    a4 - FWD/AWD
    s4 - 300+ hp
    styling: 2:13
    - body is mostly the same, slightly more aggressive grill
    - quad exhausts tips on s4
    interior benefits on s4
    - some carbon fiber
    - better leather
    performance
    - this is where the s4 shines
    - drive select: change the suspension/differential
    a4 - 34$ vs $45

Kind of an old topic, outside of the US there are A4's with apparently the basically same drivetrain, minus the optional diff i believe, and of course, "detuned" to only 272hp, nice video, kind of frustrating having a car (trim) that not many people have lol.

I’ve had my A4 B8 2010 since 2013. I’ve put performance tune, upgraded exhaust and it’s over 300hp and absolutely rips it now. 7 years and I love it just as much if not more than the day I bought it. It’s been so reliable too. Just regular maintenance, brakes and suspension changes from all the miles. Best car I’ve ever owned and at 53 I’ve owned a lot.

However, since then I have seen very little if not any shitting on the Audi 3 series line up, especially the newer they get... Ended up with a Model that is in reasonable contrast to the stigma.

Those cars with stage 2 tune are close to supercar fast well over 400 hp and that Supercharger sounds sweet. They are also called baby GTR with the way it sounds with after market exhaust.

Youre not wrong, but not totally right either. His is a 2013, mine is a 2014 Quattro S-line Prestige package. It comes with 2 fender badges, and 4 kick plate badges. For my year and lower for atleast the B8.5, DO NOT have the S line badge on the steering wheel. My steering wheel has 4 pillars opposed to the 3 pillar steering wheel I think they impliment in the 2015 and newer for that generation. My steering wheel, even thoughbis an S line, has the exact same steering wheel as this A4.

I had the choice between buying a new A4 vs S3 back in November for about the same price. I chose the S3. I decided last week that I wanted an SUV and traded the S3 for almost what I paid for it. If I had picked the A4 it would have been worth $7000+ less!!! Reason I say this is the S4, like the S3, is really the better one to buy new at least. They hold their values way better.

Buy the S4!!! I have the B8 with the stage 1 Integrated Engineering tune as well as the DSG tune. I’d definitely recommend doing the DSG tune when you go stage 1. I did the DSG tune a few months after I did the ECU tune and was pretty mad I didn’t do it sooner. These cars are quick off the line stock… Now, absolutely ridiculous. With the tunes, intake and exhaust it puts my car at close to 450hp. Worth every penny. The A4 is a luxury sedan. The S4 with the 3.0T is a wolf in sheep’s clothing with amazing potential with the tunes available.

S3 has a different type of all-wheel drive called haldex awd which is more front-wheel biased. S3 is a 4 cylinder, less practical in terms of space, and arguably is less attractive in design than the S4. You might spend the next 3 years of S3 ownership regretting that or spend the extra bucks for the S4.

Really it comes down to, what do you eventually want to pay for. Engine in car maintenence? Or the rather more expensive Engine out of the car Maintenance, if you dont care about people questioning the size of your balls, get the best of both worlds, S3... but at that point, A4 plus simple tune, would probably end up being overall better maybe... and possibly cheaper.
Or with what the guy above me said, like a Lexus, Acura, or maybe Infiniti if youre wanting that platform.

RS is way to expensive and A is lacking the looks and power.

I would be fine with the 190hp A4 diesel. The S4 is excellent, but it just isn't sporty enough for me. The rest of the money would go for a miata or a bike.
