My standing theory is that this is a money laundering/eating scheme for the executive. It's now been nearly 11 years with nothing to show apart from an administration block and approximately 60 kilometers of tarmacked road.

If you want to know the truth you look at actual money allocation vs what has been built. The truth is the government hasnt allocated much to this project which in my opinion is a good thing since it lacks any economical merit.

@@johnchege5794 Am wondering who needs understanding here, the government is to put up horizontal development and which it has already done some roads, power and sanitation systems while private sector was to do most of vertical development and which none has been done so far except some sections of KAIST, police HQ and data center. The total amount of money spent in Konza is just a few billion shillings, projects are funded from government's consolidated funds and its easy to see how much by looking at national budget, like in this year budget the allocation is only 5.2 billion to expand the data center.

The reality is the Konza idea is still growing ,I know ,I've worked there...but that doesn't make a very good news story does it ? I'm sure such news reports were written about silicon valley in it's early stages ,the pessimists listened and it validated them but the optimists bought land , 40 years later the grandchildren of the optimists aren't the ones making memes of 'my grandfather dancing as his agemates bought land in silicon valley' , this will be the story of Konza, Konza is not dead, far from it ,especially with the construction of the dualing of the Mombasa road and Nairobi expressway

If you were to ask me I’d say we’d rather abandon Konza city and instead direct all resources towards Special Economic Zones like Dongo Kundu, Naivasha and the rest coz they’ll be the biggest and fastest catalysts in ensuring Kenya rises to become an industrial and manufacturing hub and as a result increasing our exports tenfold! And that means more jobs for Kenyans, and an accelerated economic growth too!
As for technology, Kenya is already known as a tech and innovation powerhouse in the continent! We can instead use upper hill as the tech hub and continue innovating from there! Plus the 100,000 km of fiber optic being built together with over 1400 ICT hubs in the country should be enough to ensure we remain at the forefront of technology and innovation in Africa! Just my take ✌️
