    To me, pizza is a go-to "cheap eat". I'm sure the $9 slice is good, but with everything else you could buy for $9 in a big city like NY I'm not sure this is what I'd want to spend it on. Thanks for the comparison!

    • @Theendlessadventure
      @Theendlessadventure  Před 5 lety +2

  • @dragonmac1234

    The $9 "pizza" looked more like an open sandwich to me, personally I'd take the $1 slice all day. I now just have to save some money for the flight over to the US ($1 pizza would probably be all I could get if i did that) :D

    • @Sableagle

      I'm in England, as far a I know there aren't any £1 pizza places here. New York is one city I've always wanted to visit, so trying the pizza would be a must (for me at least).

    • @Sableagle
      @Sableagle Před 5 lety

    Well I’ve made it !!!!!!! I stumbled onto your channel by accident and was hooked. I can’t remember where you were but it was about number 230. I decided I wanted to see the beginning of your Endless Adventure so I started with vlog number one about ten days ago. Your total at that time was 465. I have watched each one almost continuously and have now caught up. It was interesting to see how Eric’s camera persona has grown and matured from vlog number one. I am a 72 year old British pensioner, with mobility problems, living alone in Spain. Thank you for taking me on a little holiday with each one. You are so natural and unassuming it is a pleasure to share time with you. I have subscribed and have rung my little bell 🛎 so I shouldn’t miss any. Thanks again for the pleasure you have given me. • @delstanley1349
      @delstanley1349 Před 5 lety +1

      +Baking Sweet Hope> Right. What would the $1 pizza cost and taste like with all the addons, or the $9 slice with cheese only? The $1 slice with 3 toppings ($2 each per menu) would cost $6. Isn't that the real apple to apple (or tomato to tomato) comparison; $9 to $6? I wonder what the typical NY cost for a slice is for the same pizza, cheese to cheese, or a topping per topping comparison.

    • @uzzieb9984

      Del Stanley in nyc my whole. Most slices of pizza around the city are around $2.50-$3.00 and that’s from authentic high quality pizza shops. Dollar pizza is usually something people grab after a bar or club. Dollar pizza is smaller than regular pizza and has a lot less cheese and sauce. Unless you’re really on a tight budget, get a couple real slices and a coke and call it a day.

  • @jf76
    @jf76 Před 5 lety +11

    Try Joe's for a $3 slice - worth the extra couple bucks and the line out the door. Stand outside in front of the fountain, fold that baby in half and enjoy like everyone else! Thin crust, tasty tomato sauce and just the right amount of cheese. But between the $1 and the $9 I would go for the classic New York slice every time. I do like browsing in Eatily though and getting a little snack as a treat. Go to Russ and Daughters which is a fantastic institution for a take-out bagel sandwich with lox. And split a Katz's smoked meat sandwich of course which is almost next door - not the cheapest sandwich, but huge, and delicious. The other classic budget NYC food besides a slice is Grey's Papaya for a hot dog and a papaya drink. Well, there are a billion places to try. Have fun.

    Ok I’m a few years late on this one!! To give you a timeline I just watched your sprinter van trip to South Dakota (which I love) on Fourth of July 2021! I’m a native northern NJ lady so I’ve grown up with NY pizza! I’ve tried pizza in Boston, Chicago (more than once...gotta go for the contrast) ... I still love NY pizza best (even the $1 slice)! I have a challenge for you... find the best coffee ... in the Midwest. Not Starbucks or D&D... it’s been a long time since I’ve driven out west but I have found that the coffee gets less coffee and more hot water the further I get from NJ until you get to the other coast! Maybe it’s not true anymore? Maybe I’ll try again net summer. Love your adventures and wish I was there...but I’m having the best time watching you have them for me! Cheers y’all!!!!

    My favourite is what I do at home: a frozen basic cheese an tomato pizza, to which I add a tin of mackerel mashed over, squirts of garlic puree, and a whole pile of baby spinach leaves on top and splatter them with sunflower oil so that they get soft and collapse. Sometimes I add some sliced tomato to get everything really juicy. Totally yummy. As to your question , I'd absolutely go with the basic pizza.

    The pizza at Eatly is to reflect what you would get in regions of Italy, not really NY. Rome also has a different pizza from Eatly also, thus the crust is thicker. The $1 slices are closer to traditional NYC pizza and that is part of their popularity being super thin, big slice and cheap. Not quite a good comparison as they are very different!

    Eataly is an overpriced tourist trap. Everything there is at least twice the price of it being anywhere else and that pizza, though decent, is not even worth $5. Go to DiFara or L&B Spumoni Gardens (for a Sicilian) in Brooklyn if you want a high end, but delicious pizza. What you got isn't even a pizza. It's a focaccia sandwich.

    You're comparing apples and oranges. NY pizza is thin crust, huge slices, spartan toppings. Crunchy and chewy. The other pizza you had is a Rome style take away pizza. It's ALL about the dough/crust. The toppings are typical of what you'd see in Rome. You can't really compare the 2 for price. It's like, did you enjoy the $3 Pabst Blue Ribbon or the $9 Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA?

    I don't think Eataly's pizza could be consider NY pizza. It is actually an Italian chain of markets/restaurants, so it has nothing to do with NY style pizza. But the video was still interesting as I love US vlogs. ;)

    Definitely the $1 pizza. It just is the classic pizza

    This tastes like it's right off the pig, *points at prosciutto* - yeah! after it's been salted and cured for a year and a half then thinly sliced... right off the pig! Haha, love you guys!

    Pizza for breakfast and lunch. Been doing that since college just not as often these days. 1.00 pizza is just fine. My favorite place changes based on the consistency of the pizza shop.

    I would buy two slices of the $1 pizza and put the expensive pizza in the middle and make cheapspensive pizza sammich.

    1$ pizza, is that i want to take. It's more because you get more pizza for the money. Great video guys, keep up the great work.

    Neither looked great tbh, the expensive one was more of an open sandwich, I would recommend John's Pizzeria on Bleecker street next time guys.

    I’d choose the $1 pizza every time. That $9 slice wasn’t real pizza. That was pure sacrilege to pizzas 😣

    Guiciale is pig cheek “bacon”. You’ll find it in Amatriciana pastas and a true Carbonara as well. Fancy pizza was nice but I’d go for the $1 pie personally.
