    Hi. Wonderful review and observations. Liking that leather strap idea for you. So appreciative that you weigh and measure. Would have thought that the Bolf was much thicker and heavier than the LingTing. Not my preference of tines but they sure sound great. Could be my next kalimba.

      Thank you! Many people say that you have to hear the Bolf for yourself and I certainly agree. The soulful quality doesn't seem to record well. It would certainly be a treat if you get one!!

    Great review, one question, can you tune the kalimba if somehow is out of tune or maybe change the tone?

    Hi. I Saw u have many solid board kalimba, lingting, and acrylic. If compare to bolf kalimba, whice one is the loudness sound?

    • @DawnSChampion
      @DawnSChampion  Před 3 lety

      I also have Gecko solid boards. LingTing and Bolf both have about the same volume - which is the loudest of the solid boards. The acrylics are the quietest of all. Hollows are the loudest. None of the flatboards are as loud as any of my hollows. That's why I made the acoustic amplifier. The flat boards are loud enough to be a good volume in a quiet room alone, but can very easily be overshadowed by tv or many people talking.

      @@DawnSChampion i am still considerate one of bolf Lara kalimba. Now with me a lingting 21 keys and Gecko 17 camphor. Wanna have one of bolf kalimba, if it's really sound different and outstanding sound.

      I love mine. The sound is very similar to LingTing - but it has an extra something about its sound. I can't define it - but it's enough that I even double checked that it was in tune to the proper keys because there is just something extra with the sound. You know how every Kalimba sounds just slightly different and has a different feel? The mass manufactured ones even are like this. But now Bolf is actually hand crafted and Marek Bolf says that each one that he works on has a slightly different sound to it. They are pieces of art...so each one will be different. I love that about them.
      If money and time is an issue - I would say that you can get most of all that in the LingTing - which is more affordable and easily accessible. But if you already have it all and are looking for that something extra...I would definitely recommend the Bolf.

      @@DawnSChampion by the way, do u have any box kalimba brand (hole model) reference to me ?
      I am looking for one that is good sound at high tone (not dead tine).
      And comfortable touch feeling .
      I have one gecko K 17 mahogany (model large body) it has a big keys and comfortable touch feeling, but the high tone is missing.

      @@stephenstephen74 - I wouldn't recommend any Geckos because all the ones I have are missing high tones. I would recommend the Ling ting Hollow. Tip's Kalimba did a great video showing some great Hollows. czcams.com/video/63FPOtgGlp0/video.html
