From and Islamic point of view, he was ethnically Jewish and Israelite. He was a follower of Moses and affirmed the Torah. Jesus Christ pbuh called himself Jewish because Islam at that time was basically Judaism. He was “Muslim” in a sense because Muslim just means “submission to God” in Arabic.
