Am I missing something or he could kxd2 RH2+ kC3, marching the king over to eventually allow the rook to capture the pawn and draw? Obviously don’t RxA2 first because either way you lose the rook and the game.
He’s playing as black, you have your annotations wrong. Here’s the sequence: 1. Kxe7 Ra8 (protecting the queening square, he doesn’t give a check on a7) now you will either give up the rook now with 2.Rxh7 followed with Ra7+ skewering the king and rook how you mentioned above. You don’t have time to reconsolidate with the king on e7. Or you give some checks and when they run out you give up the rook when pawn promotes
