  • Boat fishing is my bag but I have always considered myself an "all round" angler but the rivers are something I have only ever started to really get my teeth into last year while chasing Grayling and trout down on the river Itchen so when my mates suggested I tag along to try for a Barbel up on the river Wye I lept at the chance.
Conditions while not making excuses were far from ideal for Barbel. Bright high sunshine and clear skies and with a very low river I was told chances were slim and it was fishing hard but none the less we gave it a go anyway and what I learned and talk about in this video will serve me well and hopefully someone takes somthing away from it too.
    Thanks for watching.

Conditions couldn’t be harder for the barbel, still what a place to whet a line 👌🏻

Was a fairly steep drop down to the swim to I had to have zero dignity and get on my arse and shuffle 😂
Learned a lot though that will serve well in the future! Will stick your latest one on later when I’m home mate 👌🏻

Good Morning Ben, I need some advice, I have a 6m ex canal cabin cruiser boat with a 40hp 4 stroke, does around 18knots full speed, I’m looking at a quicksilver 640 with 100hp 4 stroke, I usually do 8mile round trip and costs me about £10 at a guess, would the quicksilver and 100hp mercury cost lots more to run 🤔

      Morning mate how are you?
I have the same engine (a 100hp Mercury) and it’s incredibly fuel efficient is what I can say and I am always surprised how much fuel I have left end of a long day. I have never bothered to work out exact costs per mile but there’s a lot of factors in that can vary like how many on the boat wind and tide etc but certainly as a rough guide these boats that I have seen are very economical

@@theamputeeangler hiya Ben I’m fine thanks, back offshore to Singapore in a few weeks, there’s not so many available all around the 20k - 24k mark, for me that’s fine just wanted to have it all ie boat trailer engine mod cons on the boat etc, I’m gona have to try and think of a Samson post as it will stay moored in Morecambe bay, it’s on large chains to anchors then haul up chain connect to the Samson post, anyway thanks for your advice pal 👍
