Varian is only a kid, and yet the world is showing him no mercy. He's been left alone to deal with his emotions after losing his only parent, and it has affected him very negatively.
This song's music box theme fit Varian very well to me, since his army of robots run on music boxes and since he's an emotionally broken child. It also has a slight horror vibe, which fits his role as an antagonist.
