- In the first of this now-continuing mini-series, the Cadence Vigor was absolutely left in the dust by the KastKing Verus Assassin. The Kastking Verus Assassin is the newer version of the original Verus, and is upgraded from the original. In the comments section of that video, another contender showed up to offer a challenge at the title of the best of the budget baitcaster!
This time, the Verus goes head-to-head with the Piscifun Carbon XCS! Will the KastKing Verus keep, or abdicate the crown?

Great choice on that Piscifun Carbon XCS. That reel and the dual braking system can handle casts into direct wind, HEAVY wind, with ZERO issues.
It’s easily become a favorite in my arsenal and simply cannot be beat at the price point.

This review is even better. I’ve been eyeing the entire Piscifun lineup. They really suit my eye and budget. If I dump Cadence, Piscifun is up.
I actually support Cadence rods and spinning gear. They produce an amazing product for the coin. Their baitcasting is pretty "meh". Not bad, but not great.
@@BarryP Oh yeah, no complaints with the spinning gear. I have had issues with C5 rod, but that is it so far. And that baitcaster. I still need to retry the one Cadence baitcaster I have. Probably on my next lake session. Different line maybe. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try out that Carbon XCS.
I own the Piscifun Phantom and rhe carbon xcs reels. I absolutely LOVE both reels. Even more than my Shimano or Diawa reels. They are excellent value for money. I live in South Africa and fish a LOT. Have not have any problem with either reel. The Phantom is nearly 2 years old and not 1 problem. The carbon xcs is 6 months old and my favourite. I am going to buy a white one as well as the Piscifun Torrent ll.

I actually ordered the piscifun carbon xcs I tested it out and it cast really good, no problem with it. I got it on Amazon it was like 47 bucks on Amazon I also ordered the piscifun torent rod, I saw a good reviews about it on CZcams but I haven't gone fishing yet to test it out

It took us three years to adopt another after losing Trooper, but Orion has become such an awesome addition to the family. His name is derived from the black spots on his crazy tongue. The spots resemble Orion's Belt. Yep. We are nerds!
I love Kastking. When I discovered the capstan, I sold all my Garcia reels.
Awesome! The reason for the bias here was that that the XCS has all the features of the Kapstan, without the additional cash payout. The Verus Assassin is the same price as the XCS, but misses a lot of features found on your Kapstans (the main being the C-brakes). Next time you see the Carbon XCS on sale, jump on it. You will not be disappointed, and can always return it if you don't like it. Thanks for commenting, Mel! I truly appreciate it.
So, is the Piscifun BFS reel?
Neither of these are. The KK Zepher is pretty popular. Doviello also offers a few budget BFS reels. It's certainly worth a look.
Should I get the piscifun carbon xcs or abu garcia max x for my first reel?
I'd go with the Carbon XCS. Lighter, more bearings, better gear ratio, better drag, better brakes.
Do you know the inside/outside diameter of the main gear?
I do not. I looked at the exploded diagram on the manual and it isn't much help, as it doesn't actually have part numbers.

Yes Sir! It did! Can't thank you enough. My Piscifun Carbon XCS showed up yesterday, spooling it with Berkley 8lb Low-VIS XL, pairing with a lighter Cadence CR6-6101B-MLF, 6'10", 6 - 12 lb.,
1/8-1/2oz, wanting to take full advantage of the XCS's lighter attributes, would love to see this combo tried by you! @@BarryP
