@@fposmith From Lara with Love is one of Lara’s greatest performances but it’s not the only one. There are plenty of other performances that are just as great for different reasons. Lara is not the kind of artist who only had one good moment in her career, so reducing her to one concert from 22 years ago is absolutely ridiculous.
From Lara with love is overplayed. Only requesting that one show is an insult to her artistry.
@@laratheringfabian You're right Clara! I think watching later concerts - even the same song in other concerts - make you see the different ways Lara can perform the same lyrics with different intensity. Personally, I like the 2003 version of this song - where the first part is spoken - the most heartbreaking I have ever seen! But that's just my opinion.

Oh man, Brandon! I had a blast watching you analyze and tearing this duet to small pieces. You were so spot on everything you said. Watching that Genevieve's face expression when she was near Lara tells everything. But i think there is no living soul who wouldn't feel exactly the same in that situation. Lara is just mesmerizing. World is full of good vocalists and good actress/actors. And there are some really really great vocalists and actress/actors, but when you need to find someone who has both these features combined in that level...group is kind of small. 😁 But thanx Brandon, it was great to see you with some Lara reaction again. Always the best analysis ever of the greatest artist in the world for me. What we saw on this video is a teacher in front of her student. Geneviève is completely lost in the performance of Lara, in awe as you said. It's beautiful to see how Lara is hoping Geneviève to do well. She's not only an incredible artist, she's benevolent with every other artist or student (the voice or star academy). She's unique.

So glad you saved this Patreon’s exclusive to share it on YT. I still believe that your analysis of artists on your channel ( and especially with Lara Fabian ) are paving the way to bring out the subtle elements that produces a great performance from an ordinary one. Listening to music can be done with or without attentions but, with a performance, we the witness, can’t escape asking ourself if we believed or not the intentions of the artist. Generally, two results will emerge from that : It felt real or it felt fake. Honesty will produce trust and security. Pretending produce suspicion and anxiety. That’s my way of saying that your channel is a must in this ocean of fast, inattentives, porned consuming of artist trying to bring to this world an honest balm by sharing their human experiences.

Very great insight
This video is Lara (coach on "La Voix...The Voice Quebec) with one of her contestants. This is a duo performance with coach and finalist. Genevieve is now a performer in Canada. Lara was a great coach on La Voix and went on to" Star Academie" as head coach. This is a very special show where only a dozen or so students (great non professional signers) are chosen to go to this academie where they are thought by the best to become great artist. Lara took a few finalist on her latest tour in 2022. Keep up your great work, love your reactions/analysis. 🇨🇦😊💖

Really think you were right on point with the whole emotions thing. I think the difference between Lara and a lot of artists is that she doesn't just sing the song, but she lives it. Genevieve is really talented but it did kinda of feel like she was trying to sound emotional and wasn't truly living the song, which is okay in it's own way (we can't expect everyone to be like Lara :) ) Always love the Lara reactions, may I recommend you to react to her live version of her song « I guess I Loved You » and another one of her songs called « Tu es mon autre » performed with Mauranne and Lalane ?
Really appreciate this insightful reaction. I saw the stiffness in Genevieve’s body early in the performance. I get it that it takes training to undo the classic opera poses, to let your body move, to express emotion along with your voice. Having said that, I recall two exceptions. (Video performances that only showed the artists’ expressions from the neck up. The emotions portrayed in the facial expressions were gut wrenching.) These black and white studio versions were Disturbed’s Sound of Silence, and Diana Navarro’s El Perdon. Other commenters may prefer the live versions, for various reasons ,but the intensity of the facial expressions shook me.
I can agree on at least one video. I did a reaction to El Pardon a long time ago. I hope you get a chance to check it out and let me know what you think.
Sorry I didn’t mention it. I’ve been following your reactions here in Canada since you started your channel. I just rewatched your reaction. The early, sad emotions in the face evoke withdrawal, a shrivelling of the person; for this, body movement might not be necessary. Toward the end, anger is perfectly displayed . She did a “masterclass” in displaying her anger facially only, while Lara Fabian got the same result, using her whole body to show anger in Je Suis Malade. Rewatching Diana again brought tears to my eyes . I feel like you were a friend sharing those emotions with me through your sincere reaction.
I started watching classic movies from the 1920s. The Passion of Joan of Arc , black and white, silent, very little action. It’s all about closeups of the characters, especially their faces, the hint of a frown, the expression of the face suggesting “you’ve got to be kidding me , she thinks God spoke to her?” . This film medium reminded me of your reactions to Lara Fabian, Dimache, Diana Navarro, Angelina Jordan, and Diana Akudinova to name a few who get into the emotions most of the time. Still hoping you find time to check out Diana Akudinova’s cover of Ornery Horses with subtitles. Filmed partially in black and white, live. Before the performance she is apologetic and afterwards near tears and very humble. Sorry, I don’t know how to send links. Continuing to appreciate your insights.
Lara is always the best ! But you should have chosen a different performance of this song by Lara. The performance in the concert, "From Lara With Love" is the greatest performance of a female singer in history ! Hands down ! I have done that! That was actually, I think, my first reaction to her and only the second or maybe third music reaction on this channel! Man that was so long ago now lol. You should go check it out!
