    The lyric where she says you are wishing I stayed is in reference to when she wanted to change labels and told her previous label head she wanted to buy her masters he told her that if she stayed with his label he would give her 1 of her old albums for each new album she put out. She obviously didn’t want to do that and went to a label that let her own the rights to her songs since she always writes her own. It was genius to re-record the albums and to make it better for her fans she added songs “from the vault” on the re-records that are songs she wrote during the making of those albums that didn’t make the album (her fans would’ve bought the new ones even if she didn’t add the new songs just to help her own her art). We can actually thank Kelly Clarkson for telling Taylor she should re-record even though Kelly says Taylor would’ve come up with it on her own.

    This is one of my favorite songs of hers. The way she words stuff is amazing. this song is about Scott Borchetta he signed her to big machine records when she was 14 years old and they did a lot of amazing music together, but when her contract was up, she asked in the new contract for rights to her music and he said he would give them to her for every two albums she made for him. He let her buy one of her albums, so she left she wanted to buy her music and he ended up selling them to her enemy. That’s why we now have Taylor’s version.

    I think you did great with breaking down the song! Yes, it's always good to know the context an artist writes from so you get the full impact of the song, but Taylor also really wants people to interpret it into their own experience and get something from it for themselves! Now you're seeing just a glimpse into why the Eras tour is so massive! Welcome aboard- we're all mad here😂

      @@CordlessReacts it's not cheating, it's educating & most SWIFTIES appreciate when reactors have a basic understanding of the song they're going to listen to because context is so important! Fire 4:31 meaning that if he set fire to her relationship, he burned himself as well, he being the label executive Scott Borchetta, who she had been with since she was 16. This song as seen in the Long Pond Studio Sessions, is her direct message to him. You can quite literally see the pain on her voice and hear the hurt in her voice & words.
    She considered Scott as a member of her extended family and a father figure since she literally grow up with him. This is one of the most painful moments in her life. 💔 She said because of the amount of hurt he did, she doesn’t have the “strength to go with grace” and was calling out on it.

    In the Long Pond Session movie version of this song, she adds a line: "Look at all my tears, turning into your tears" - which explains the "ricochet" - but, also, she sings it in such a beautiful way that I wish that line existed in every version of the song. Also, at the end of this video you noticed her taking a deep breath at the end. In the Long Pond version, you hear her sigh as the video fades. That sigh has become kinda iconic (at least in my mind).
    You don't necessarily need to do another reaction vid for this song, but just in case you want to see the Long Pond version, here it is:
    My Tears Ricochet (Long Pond Sessions)
    czcams.com/video/Idjs-hw7Spg/video.html
    In general, I recommend the Long Pond Sessions movie version for any folklore songs for which there are video clips, but the Eras Tour versions are great too, so now my general recommendation is to watch both, when possible.
    In my comment on your first TSwift video, I suggested several songs that I still highly recommend. They are fan favs, so lots of swifties would love to see you do them.

    Another great song from the Folklore album is Exile featuring Bon Iver. I like the long pond studio version the best. On folklore there is also a Trilogy of songs that go together that’s a teenage love triangle that’s interesting cause I’ve never really seen an artist do something like that where different songs tell different versions of the same story. Those songs are “Cardigan” “August” and “Betty”. To me Folklore is her best lyrical album. The song that most swifties love is “All Too Well” the 10 minute version. There is a short film that Taylor Directed for that song that’s incredible.

      @@CordlessReacts probably my fav she has directed is either The Man or Cardigan. My favorite someone else directed is Look What You Made Me Do. I’ve had other reactors tell me they have had an easier time getting her more recent videos up because of when she changed music labels because she is using her own production company when doing the videos and I don’t know if this is true or not but I’ve had people tell me she is ok with reaction videos which to me makes sense because all it does is get an artist more people potentially interested in their work. I can’t tell you how many people have rented the eras tour movie since it came out that never listened to her before because they started doing reactions to her videos and started seeing just why her fan base is so big.

    • @NYandAZ
      @NYandAZ Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@Amandaarford83 But to do “Cardigan” properly in the Folklore love triangle, it should be combined with “Betty” and “August”. It’ll mean more and make more sense to people if the full trilogy is done together. Each song is sung from a different person’s perspective in the fictional love story. Cardigan is Betty’s perspective from when she’s a bit older and is reflecting on the relationship she had with James and how badly he hurt her, Betty is from James’ perspective in his present day in HS and August is from Inez’ perspective, also in her present day in the summer before HS starts back up.
      Fun fact: the 3 names, Betty, James & Inez are the real life children’s names of her best friends, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
      Ryan also appears in the “You Need to Calm Down” music video and Blake directed “I’ll Bet You Think About Me” music video. James’ baby voice is heard at the beginning of the song “Gorgeous”. It’s too cute!!
      In that video of “I’ll Bet You Think About Me”, the bride and groom are also very good friends with Taylor in real life, Miles Teller and his wife, Keileigh Teller. Miles is a well-known actor, too. Blake and Keileigh are usually by Taylor’s side on her girls nights out (or at the football games for Travis). Taylor is just known as Auntie Taylor to the 3 children (actually they have 4 children, but their last baby’s name nor gender have ever been revealed; even after one full year) and their relationship with The Reynolds Family is so sweet and special.
