joe mcnoe tmnt is sort of a pseudo parody of Daredevil. The origin story also basically confirms that the same chemical hit the turtles at the same time it hit Matt.

I loved the tie-in rant because I remember reading the main run of "Civil War" as well as the Fantastic Four tie-in and wondering why the heck the Invisible Woman made this insanely dramatic show of defecting to Captain America's anti-registration side by blowing a massive hole through Fantastic Four headquarters, when in the main run, she just writes her husband a letter and leaves via a taxi....a taxi!!

I dont mind tie in's as long as they add more to the story, find out what wolverine or fantastic four are up to during the events of civil war. makes it feel like a big event that effectas the whole universe
what i HATE is when i NEED to read tie ins in order to understand the main story.
also I hate when editorial makes creative teams stop the stories that they had planned in order to fit into an events. I.e Batman tie ins to death of the family. if you're just reading nightwing alone. the tie in seemed random and out of place

Agreed . Feel like they should develop a better writing system for tie ins maybe the writer of the main event write the tie ins themselves and have it be completely disconnected from whatever is going on in that characters main book . or involve writers more and maybe only pick characters for tie ins that current writers of those characters would be willing to do to create a more cohesive story for the tie in . I like the idea of tie ins because it’s like putting together a puzzle and seeing the whole picture .
About the events bit, it's one of the reasons why I love Daredevil the vast majority of the time. While everyone else is being sucked into Civil War 2, apart from being in the latest issue for a bit, Daredevil is totally isolated from it. Very few events leak into Daredevil's pages

Gotta agree with Sal, tie-ins are a goddamn joke. Here is the main story, but you'll have to pay for the extras that fill in every insignificant detail. In other words, tie-ins = the video game equivalent of unwanted video game dlc.

I still think the premise of DD leading the hand was a top-notch idea. It's just unfortunate the new writer couldn't deliver a satisfying way of telling it. Had Brubaker or Bendis written this - this story would've turned out so differently, but I know amazing!

They can be fun but shouldn't be necessary to get the complete experience?
Tie-ins can be good. Like Flashpoint and Futures End, where almost nothing happened in them that was vital to the main story, but it explored the setting of the event.Or Convergence, where the tie-ins were the only thing that had any progress or quality.And then there's Darkseid War where stuff that should have been important happened, but it wasn't because nothing happened until the last five pages.
Painocus If you think that was the best part of Infinity Man & The Forever People, then you're forgetting Guy Gardener's Darkseid multi-Lantern construct fighting a gigantic Infinity Man.
What Futures End tie ins did you think were good? I think the tie ins were just as bad as the book itself, a complete waste of ink and paper that someone should have been fired for even pitching.
Ian McKee Swamp Thing, Red Lanterns, Sinestro, Grayson, Batgirl, and Justice League, Detective Comics. Earth 2 had an interesting scenario, but I'm hesitant to call anything between Robinson and Abnett "good".

Of those that I read, Sinestro is the best. Justice League was part of like a two part story i believe, and that was just bland "what if things went bad" and I could not muster the energy to care. BatGirl, Grayson and Earth 2 were all just horrible, to me at least. The Tie ins were just bad ideas that were sounding boards for DCU, and that went so bad they had to backpedal right back to the old universe.
Ian McKee Opinions aside, the point is that they served to fluff out the setting of the story rather than lengthen the events of the main book.
That 10-minute rant on tie-ins is well-told, especially since it's coming from the deepest part of Sal's hate-gut. I can tell he used to be a teacher.

Sal's rant on event tie-ins is so on point. Thank god for Infinity. When that book came out in trade it collected the main issues and the tie-in issues from Avengers and New Avengers (Of course, the reason could be that all of those issues were written by Hickman). They could have easily have the trade only collect Infinity #1-6 but I think in order to get the full story, those tie-ins needed to be there.
I hate this book, but I love you guys. I shall soldier on

Shadowland is dope. The ending was a bit lackluster. But the build up of Matt’s rise to power was an interesting direction for the daredevil book to take
I totally agree with you about tie ins, my favourite example of how bad tie ins are is that during Amazons Attack event the books that tied in to it actually lost readers because of the event and gained more readers after it was over

Two things:
First, you folks ROCK. Seriously, Comic POP is currently my favorite thing on youtube, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Second, you all have strangely made me WANT to check out Shadowland.
Finally, a request: MORE BACK ISSUES. I dig pretty much everything put up under the Comic POP banner, but Back Issues is my favorite.

To the intro rant about tie ins; the exact reason I gave up on Arrow, a show I had loved for ages. I started not knowing what was going on because I hadn't watch flash and the other shows that I don't care about, I just wanted to watch my favourite show, ARROW.. And so I gave up
I Love Back Issues, it helps me de-stress, and it's allways funny!

The best things to come out of Shadowland was The stages based off of it in Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Daredevils' costume in All-New All-Different Marvel, and my personal favorite Dock Ock as Spider-Man getting rid of it

Being a web head in the 90s was suffering. Even when there WASN'T an event going on, you would still need to pick up all four friggin spider-man books at the time to even have a chance of figuring out what the hell was going on...
I acquired a strong hatred for yellow-ish rectangles which I hold to this day.

I don't like most tie ins because I want to be able to read a full storyline straight through without having to jump from tie in to tie in. However, sometimes that is fun. I like SOME tie-ins. Like I enjoyed the Civil War tie in that Spider-Man had because it was done well.
