      Vinyl chloride has a half life of 1-2 days. It breaks down into Hydrogen Chloride which is a precursor to Hydrochloric Acid when it hits water vapor, and Phosgene which was a chemical agent used in WW1. They are most likely buying as much time as possible to wait for testing procedures so that the chemicals can disperse more without seeming dangerous to the public. My 2 cents. Godspeed.

    • @TDPhinsTalkAdmin
      @TDPhinsTalkAdmin Před rokem

      Well Butyl Acetate, degrades in chlorinated water, and benzene when in the presence of chlorine and sunlight forms the common insecticide Benzene Hexachloride. 2-Butoxyethanol (along with pretty much all the other chemicals) is biodegradable with a half-life or 1-4 weeks, and as for vinyl Chloride it’s the worst you’re right, but it’s not unsolvable. Firstly it will diffuse and disperse because in the grand scheme of things there is not a lot of it, but depending on the levels in the soil we might actually go ahead and implement and bacteria called Nitrosomonas europaea which not only will digest the vinyl chloride, but also the benzene and turn it into nitrate which will make the soils even better.

    The fact the train company lied about what it was transporting. Epa found additional chemicals not reported.
