In early November of 2019, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard announced a three-hour marathon set at Red Rocks Amphitheater on May 6, 2020. Tickets sold out in less than 24 hours. Another marathon set was added for May 5.
Fans eagerly awaited these shows, knowing that they would be something special…
Then the pandemic hit. Life slowed to a halt. People stayed at home, hoping for some pre-pandemic normalcy to return.
1,063 days. 34 months. Nearly three years spanned between the announcement of King Gizzard’s Red Rocks shows in 2019 and the band walking on stage in 2022.
These shows had always been special, but after the long wait, they became more than just a show. They were a goal, something that people had to look forward to even during the darkest days of isolation and confusion. During the fan meet up before 2 of the 3 Red Rocks shows, we interviewed fans to learn what King Gizzard meant to them, why they held onto these tickets for so long, and how their lives had changed since the announcement of these shows.
This documentary is dedicated to the beautiful fan base that has blossomed through this wonderful band. King Gizzard fans are a special group of caring, kind, compassionate, creative people and it feels incredible to be a part of the weirdo swarm. We love you all, and we hope you love this project.
23 studio albums is just the beginning. Cheers to many more years of Gizz!

In the almost 3 years between when I bought tickets to these shows and when they happened I got engaged, our daughter was born, moved from Phoenix to seattle, started a new job, and made damn sure king giz is our daughters favorite band. A wild 3 years it was but man was it worth the wait

You know how sometimes you are listening to a song, and the band transitions into this part of the song where it they just lock into a total groove, and the song just starts ripping, and you can't help but start dancing and moving around and pumping your fists in the air? That's pretty much every moment of every King Gizzard song from start to finish.

I felt these people on a spiritual level, as I was at the third night and I've found this band has forced me to bond with so many people wether online or in person. This band and their fan base have made me felt so accepted and awesome, especially in a really strange time for me growing up, being a teenager, life and earth. Talking to people before and after shows. Meeting the band themselves, it's awesome. King gizzard rocks.

Waited the same 1063 days man! Went camping out in the Colorado woods with my brothers, and then had to greatest experience of my life at Red Rocks. So glad I was one of thousands of people that experienced the exact same thing ❤️❤️ amazing video my man

To the guy in the denim jacket and beanie at 9:12, we chatted in line on Day 2 for a while and it was a blast talking with you. People were so easy to talk to at the shows, even for a person like me who has trouble talking to new people. I love how friendly and tight this fanbase is.

Wow, this is top Gizz wholesome content. I just can't describe how I clicked with all these people's words, experiences, and actions. In my case, Red Rocks 3rd Night was a peak of my existence, no doubt. I traveled all the way from Monterrey, Mexico by myself to this spot that I had never been to before and where I didn't even knew a single soul around, and still, it was worth every moment. And in the end, I have just found myself repeating this same action, but now visiting the Salt Sheds next June. It feels really nice to know that there are people around that get it, no matter where they may be from.

I really like King Gizzard for a lot of the reasons people in the video stated. There are a lot of parallels with KG and Phish, that I don't think a lot of KG fans understand or appreciate.
I was at the third night and just looking around at how massive the crowd was was insane.

I was at one of the Red Rocks marathon shows and this mini-doc does a great job of highlighting the band's passionate and friendly fan base. I met two random people in line who traveled to Colorado from Tennessee. We ended up hanging out all night and had a blast.
It wasn’t me, but I also traveled from Tennessee for all 3 nights. Greatest experience of my life!

This was one of the best experiences (if not, THE best experience) of my entire life. Holding onto my tickets since 2019 was beyond worth it.
That second dude TOTALLY gets its! It's still rare for me to find another local fellow Gizzoid , but when I do, we totally connect. AND the beanie dude at the brewery. I so felt that. I'm the weird music guy that feels so at home about the band. IT's an outpouring of love and obsession to the most PERFECT music ever created! I'll be a gizz fan for the rest of my life, and even then on forward. I have NEVER dove so hard into the Gizz and dumbed a smuch money and support to a single band as I have for Gizz. Fan since 2017.

Wanted to be at their Rocks show so bad. I love this, and I love the people that love King Gizz. So blessed with this band.
I discovered KGatLW when i was looking for Les Claypool releases on Amazon and i saw the Nonagon Infinity- album among the "people who purcased this also bought"- list.
The band name and cover art made me go: "I already know this appeals to me".
This was in 2016.
I traveled pretty far to attend the Sunday night preparty and the back to back shows. This made me tear up a bit..
Best rocks show I’ve ever seen. Saw these guys at the Ogden and the Fox their first year here, even got a chance to meet them outside my buddy’s place in Boulder. Every year they come back is a treat because of how big they’re growing. Forever make great stuff and blow our minds. Thank you Gizz
I'm from the UK and my girlfriend bought me tickets to the first rescheduled show because it was on my 30th birthday. Unfortunately that got cancelled, but the result was we went a year later, planned a massive road trip from San Fran and ended up getting engaged out there. I feel deeply connected to this band, so much of the last 5/6 years of my life is soundtrakced to them and I couldn't be more grateful.

I didn’t know what to expect when I clicked on this… but I’m so glad I did. This is such a great representation of the Gizz verse and it’s fans. Everyone of their stories I resonated with, so putting things into words that I’ve struggled to do my self. I wish I could have been there at the Red Rocks gigs. I settled for the Seattle date and while it was great, it doesn’t compare to compassion and warmth that was shared on that weekend.
I was at red rocks on the second night. Gizz rules, always has always will. Red rocks is the perfect place for them, they seem to like it as well.
This was absolutely STELLAR! Best 20 minutes I have ever spent on CZcams. So well made and the fans just nailed it with their heartfelt yet poignant commentary. Bravo!!!

I put my finger on it immediately. It's because they're a rock band lose music is infused with all the genres of all the music I've been listening to for the last 60 years. From the Beatles to Motown to Glam Rock to punk rock to Blues Funk jazz and heavy metal. Sometimes it's all in one song. That's why I love them and that's why pretty much all I've been listening to since last May is King gizzard.

Red Rocks is a bucket list venue for me still….maybe next year will be the year for me to see a show there.
At 11:30 the guy talking about breaking the wall is so real. I knew I would like them for the longest time and extremely into psychedelic rock. But once I really started listening to them and went to one of their concerts I absolutely fell in love and they are my favorite band in this generation and possibly the best of their time. 🐊🍄✨

I wasnt at red rocks, but Gizz is coming to the netherlands early 23 so Ill be there for sure. Itll be my first time as I discovered this band earlier this year.
Their music really touches me and right now its helping me through an incredible hard time of my life (my father passed away). Songs like Float Along and Iron Lung specifically help me through that stuff but just listening to all their records and enjoying all the different soundscapes and getting to know the songs and vibes better is such a nice pasttime.
I cant wait to see them live and talk to fellow gizzheads. Its so easy to have so much passion for these guys and like they say in the doc, it must feel great to talk to all these people who all feel the same.

I just released my own King Gizzard mini documentary, but about the Miami shows, which hasn't (& won't) come close to the views or band/fan acclaim. I wish I could've made it to those Red Rocks shows! I got a reserved ticket a couple weeks before the October shows finally happened...Hurricane Ian had other plans for me. Sorry for the long comment, it's just that this band makes me feel and think so much! Last but not least, if the Texan band members happen to see this comment, can you help me with starting out my own King Gizz inspired (cover) band?

I went night 1 and night 3. I saw them at mission ballroom before the world ended. Night 1 the psychedelics started kicking in while i was waiting in line to get in. I work for the music venues in Denver, I've seen probably around 5,000 shows. Night 1 was something else.
