This machine is amazing. Have been using it for more then 8 months. App and machine updates regularly, improving the experience and adding new recipes. Their customer service is outstanding.
Agreed! I have it for about a year and its great. Pricy but worth it.
But it's not a true espresso machine it's more a pour over so I wiuod save my money and just get a coffee machine lol
We've been a roaster on the Spinn marketplace for a few years (currently paused). I've also been using a standard Spinn machine at home for a few months to dial in our roasts for the machine/marketplace. So I thought it might be interesting to comment from the supplier side of the platform. Spinn has been great at reaching out to roasters with information, new features as they hit the platform, and working with us to gather data on roasts in order for the machine to produce the best drink possible for each drink type. The whole experience as a roaster (and as a quasi-consumer at home) has been very positive. While there are some "Simpsons did it!"-type comments in this comment thread re: the extraction style that the machine employs, I think those miss the point of the whole Spinn PLATFORM, which is where the real innovation lies. Being nit-picky about the app interface is all well and good, any good product manager should be paying attention to those comments in order to improve the overall app experience (which I'm sure they'll continue to do).
All in all, I think what Spinn is working on here for home coffee lovers is a pretty fantastic idea and, so far, they've been executing on it pretty well.
A little concerning not to see any discussion of the grinder or demo of espresso quality on what is marketed as an espresso machine, to an espresso-oriented segment at espresso prices 😉 but I am curious about those details in particular!
Great suggestions! You can check out some of the espresso pouring in our videos here: instagram.com/p/CkrG5sFjSLr/ check out how smooth that pour is!
This seems like a premium Nespresso, without the pods. Good setup if you want to use your own beans without having to pack a reusable pod.
The extraction is MUCH better than a Nespresso!
Try to change the beans.
@@SeattleCoffeeGear Hardly believable, even if true price difference is huge.
@@J4ckCr0w Give it a try, you'll see what we mean :) freshly ground beans are always better tasting than pod grounds, in our opinion!
@@SeattleCoffeeGear Well, if there is a chance too by all means. Coffee is always an experience.
Is there a way to keep the carafe warm after brewing it?
Hi I purchase an Breville Dual boiler. What would be a good grinder under $600.00 for espresso coffee
Not really a new technique. Siemens/Bosch already sold a 'spinning' espresso machine 15 years ago.
The functionality of the Spinn mobile tech in 2022 is much more sophisticated than it was a decade ago!
Its basically nespresso without the pod tbh
@@ELITEGOD61 This isn't true, check out the mechanics of the machine, it's an entirely different structure with completely different internal programming.
How's the reliability? I've seen a decent number of complaints regarding reliability.
If only it wasn’t 800 dollars I would buy it in a heartbeat
it's $600 for black friday. IDK if that helped get to your price point but it did for me. Came to watch a review if it was good before going through with the purchase.
Can you make coffee without the app ?
Does it actually make hot coffee? Like hot brewed?
It does!
Would really like to see an 'Espresso' shot to see texture. Also, I'm a hardcore La Pavoni lever person with dodgy WiFi, this is probably not for me. I like creamy shots and could see it for a minimalist who wants elevated Nespresso and Cold Brew. 👍 Edit: They've turned comments off in every single video on their channel. Super sus.
I used to use a Pavoni and the Spinn shots are just as creamy or even creamier. You can practically eat the espresso. :) You don't have to use Wi Fi; you can operate it directly from the front of the machine. The coffee is nothing like what you get from a Nespresso.
@@relevin2 Do you work at SCG? If so, could you make an espresso shot video with close-ups? I have a Nespresso machine as an emergency backup only. Yuk!
@@Satine_Moisant No, I'm just a very happy owner of a Spinn. I'll send you a photo of a shot.
@@Satine_Moisant I can't send you a photo on this platform. I have taken a couple of photos but don't know where to send them.
We have comments enabled on every single video. We like to hear what you all think and would never turn them off.
In Brazil, Spin is a CAR😄
😂
So basically, this is like the Nespresso Vertuo, but with fresh beans?
The spinning feature of the beans is what is revolutionary here- no Nespresso spins fresh beans for a cleaner grind, and has a perfectly balanced setting structure to pour precise shots for the specific drink you're making!
How does this compare to Nespresso system?
Nespresso uses pods that, cannot be truly recycled. Spinn has residue bin, after brewing is complete machine leaves only dry used coffee leftover that can be thrown away as organic trash or compost
@@bohdanholyachuk7145 How is the quality. The reason I'm asking is I like the convenience of Nespresso system, but the quality of the end product is not good
It would have been nice to see what the inside looks like? I can’t imagine what a spin process looks like. I mean does it open up like a machine w a brew unit? Does it need cleaning? He briefly mentioned filters? Huh? Not enough information on the video.
@@Xcinlb565 early backer, waited 4 years for mine, got cancer and hardly drink coffee anymore. My wife loves it makes great coffee, prompts you to clean and descale, have to buy the cleaning solution thru spinn, we don't use their filter, but run only filtered water. You occasionally have to remove the grinder auger and clean, but pretty simple. Overall very happy with it.
@@Xcinlb565 perhaps not unlike your washing machine on the spin cycle perhaps.
Can’t believe how upset the ppl in these comments are over this machine 😂
Because of the price. You can get a real superautomatic for less, why would you want this goofy app-dependent contraption?
Vertuo 2.0
Curious how good the ristretto is to your palette? If I'm an obsessive espresso geek, will I be disappointed with the Spinn? I find any "espresso" from a Nespresso machine pretty much undrinkable, so I'm guessing that, despite the convenience, Spinn might not be the machine for me.
Hi Bob, these machines don't use pods, but use fresh beans and "grind" them in a different way. The extraction is amazing, in fact! Plus, you can use your favorite beans fresh from a local roaster instead of buying pods. So, flavor is not compromised!
while i do see a use for apps when it comes to super automatics, the lack of options you have without a app on this machine is shockingly little, plus the app seems designed mainly around selling you stuff, there is a bunch of options to purchase things trough the app, meanwhile in the brewing part of the app, they couldn't even bother making a mooth progress bar that aligns the timing of your coffee with the machine, the progress bar speeds up and slows down at different parts of the process, then completely stops and skips ahead to finished, nothing screams this app was designed to sell you stuff (and probably collect and sell your data) like core features being poorly implemented and slopy design
As an update: the app has more coffee choices than many know what to do with! Including: americano, macchiato, latte, espresso martinis, cold brew, cortado, and SO many more.
Sounded really loud
Just like a regular espresso machine, the fresh beans are (spun, not ground), which means they do make some noise when spinning! However, it's a very short period of time, and isn't as loud as some of the other machines on the market.
You better stick with Starbucks drive-through.
I have long respected SCG's reviews, and it's what made me buy a Spinn. I can't believe how bad the coffee is though! Everything i have tried comes out sour and underextracted. Very disappointed :(
Hey Mike! Hmmm... we haven't heard this before, most Spinn drinks come out tasting great, which may mean that there is an issue with your machine. Have you either called us or Spinn directly to make sure there isn't something wrong with the machine? If so, we'd love to help you further. If not, that might be a good route to take. Spinn machines have made really delicious coffee for our customers and our internal team. Let us know!
I am very sorry that you had a bad experience - I spent a lot more for my espresso machine and my Niche grinder , but I am very happy with what I get in the cup. Regardless of the price, if it does not give the desired results it becomes an expensive mistake.
Have you tried different beans?
I was totally excited and seriously thinking about ordering one until I saw .. $999 price. For that hell no. But I like its idea. They just need to get the price down to $300 or less.
.. Here's what I see, an extremely expensive but probably delicate machinery that's going to end up in the trash bin because it's going to cost too much to fix. Also for that price, not including a touchpad of sorts. In other words, a built-in cheap tablet. It makes it an annoying thing first thing in the morning for my family. I would literally have to figure out a way to mount a tablet or an old phone underneath the cabinet or some obnoxious place where I also have to figure out a way to keep it charged up. It's just not a good idea. It's not a standalone. For that price it snap of a finger no. I am by far not poor.
You can use your phone to brew a drink from as far as your Wi-Fi service allows, it doesn't need to be near the machine. The machine's price is due to the sophistication of the engineering. The Spinn has had incredible reviews across the internet, and our internal team has found great success with vetting out the value through personal use and testing. Trust us, this will not end up in any trash bin.
@@SeattleCoffeeGear .. Just saw a video on the Xbloom, and it's problem is it's water capacity is too way too small. In the morning we're especially in a quasi rush, I'd either have a dedicated tablet always ready or not get it. They need something built-in tablet or forget it, and have the App as a plus. I simply don't get the lack of thinking when people are designing these products.
I'm all for tech, I own a data center but I'm not for poor or lacking designs asking premium pricing.
@@DJaquithFL you can actually hook up a water line to the pro version. i can assure you that alot of thinking was done when this machine was created. this is a full automatic machine and you will not find any like this for 300 or less. Even the Delonghi Latissima Pro is still 450 and it uses pods...
Not for me - I will stick with my Ascaso Espresso Machine. I do not want to have to rely on a cell phone to make coffee. I want to use the beans I want, the machine I have does not make me go online to buy from some roastery someplace. I have beans that were roasted within a few days of my buying them from a local roaster. He is not going to be roasting beans for a SPINN.
I did like the thought of this machine for cold brew. For someone who wishes to do it all from scratch this would be great in that you would not have to buy a grinder and a coffee machine.
That said you would also be in a world of hurt if you had this machine and something broke. So; is it really a buying decision? For me I think not.
Hi Gary! You can use any beans you'd like with the Spinn. There are no requirements for using specific beans! That is what makes it great.
@@SeattleCoffeeGear I got that impression from the SPINN Website when I made this comment. That said - I still do not think it would be for me.
@@nomadsolosjust say you can’t afford it and go buy a Mr coffee machine.
Sounds like a lot of problems to me
A bunch of processes and a lot of noise.
It also has Klaupth spinning oil noise so it is ok with me
Coffee brewing might not be quiet, but the Spinn sure brews a frothy, delicious cup of coffee. Our team is truly obsessed!
Guess you don't know about Nespresso Vertuo. You can actually do the exact same thing, except grinding while you can change the brew. Spinn cannot change the brew for 1000$.
With a Spinn, you only use fresh beans. Nespresso capsules are not made with freshly roasted beans. The result is a VERY different flavored coffee.
@@SeattleCoffeeGear But dude, 1k, while it is impossible to change beans without washing. Really?
@@J4ckCr0w Washing isn't required every time you add new beans.
@@SeattleCoffeeGear Than thats different from what you said.
It's like a bunch of tech Bros got together and said how can we convince people to spend more money for a coffee maker and spend more money for coffee beans.
Too much plastic. No thanks, I'll stay with my stovetop moka pot, Flair, and pour over. I don't like plastic touching my coffee.
That’s what I thought. Especially the price point. Should be in stainless at least
Steer clear away form this POS machine, I have one and it quit working in less than a year there is no support and no one ever calls you or emails you back
