THEY DID THE TOTK THEME SO WELL
The subtle piano 🎹🎹🎹 🤣
This hits me so hard especially when Nintendo’s official concert in January just got cancelled 😭😭😭
Really? I thought it was lacking the energy it could have had … especially looking at xenoblade’s segment last year…
@@bentwigg9700probably because they reorchestrated it around giving Pedro (flute guy) the melody. Having a the heavy brass would overpower him. I think they did an awesome job, but that's probably why it doesn't feel as "kinetic" ig
THEY DIIIID ARGHHHHH THEY REALLY DIDD XD I LOVE ITTT
You can tell Pedro Eustache (flute guy) was having a damn good time.
And as always, The Game Awards Orchestra is truly the hidden gem of The Game Awards.
"Flute guy" is the best!!!
He could kill someone with eggs thing swinging around haha
That guy was fucken schmoovin, completely infectious energy.
They are the main reason I watch the game awards
2 years straight Flute Guy carries the orchestra lol
What we're all here for...
0:49 Flute guy goes hard
1:42 Flute guy goes harder
1:50 Flute guy chilling
2:27 Flute guy back on the grind

what a legend!
Legendary 🙌
The Flute Guy is a must have now in all TGAs moving forward
😂😂😂 Funniest thing I've watched xx
An honor to play in this orchestra!
Amazing work mate! 👏
You and the orchestra were incredible!! Hearing the motifs of my favourite games done beautifully got me tearing up, even on rewatches.
2:39 This is you??
You and the orchestra did an excellent work!!
Wow awesome good job
Incredible job ❤
I just love how the Orchestra honors every GOTY nominee with a song dedicated to their respective soundtracks.
I wish the Oscars did this with their Best Original Score category every year.
This is the best part always
Remember the time where you commented on the Nomination livestream where you did not expect lots of people saying Baldur’s gate 3 will win.
They did indeed win but it really shows that they are sooooo toxic to Nintendo fans (I hope you are, I am).
I know the feeling of not winning the game you voted, but damm if it was the same game that dominated the game you chose it turns super frustrating and super annoying.
Biut hey, let’s celebrate the other things Mario, TOTK, Pikmin and other Nintendo games brought home!
@@HarrisonLuiEKYiss Not to say BG3 fans aren't toxic at times, but Nintendo fans were equally so.
@@dasaiyantv8483 Especially to the ‘opposite’ 😬
Also my friend said they might have BOTS to help Baldur’s Gate 3 win, it’s just so unfair.
Give that flute guy a raise, he deserves it
I’ve heard he works with Han Zimmer lol
@@Pikaclevhe does. He worked with Hans for Dune soundtrack as well
@@Pikaclev He does. I've been to a Hans Zimmer concert and I can tell he was the main character.
Prior to working with Hans Zimmer, he used to be the main flautist for Yanni. The guy has an insane musical pedigree and talent. Easily one of the best flautists in the world.
I follow his IG and he's such a kind hearted talented soul
Honestly, it gave me chills when the TOTK transition arrived. It was so well played and very particular.
Baldurs Gate and TOTK have left a very deep mark.
Zelda esa meant to be played by a Grand Orchestra, it's just so on another level honestly
@@brenday9504 yes, not to minimize the other games, but only these two made sense to me and could inmediately enjoy and recognize their signature melodies.

They need to hire him from now on, his presence gives so much positive energy
Big Pedro ! damn love him
I hope I get to meet him one day. Seeing him vibing and doing what he loves inspired me to get into game development and chase my dreams
Flute guy really killed it again this year
The dancing during Spider-Man though-that’s what got me
Remember switching to your flute is always faster than reloading!
Flute Guy isn't just a musician, he's also a bard cycling through instruments in his inventory to buff the orchestra
Last year he was an Offseer, this year he's a Level 20 Bard. Wonder what he'll be next year.

The transition into the TOTK section gave me legit goosebumps.
For real
Absolutely❤
2:15 This gave me chills. A great rendition of the TotK theme.
Please I am begging, for the 10th anniversary of the Game Awards we absolutely need a “Decade of Games” Orchestra performance, where the orchestra goes through a melody of the past 10 years of gaming to show us the monumental games we have gotten this past decade. Even if they just limit it to the precious GOTY winners it would be so awesome. The orchestra is always the best part of the show, I never am disappointed to see more of them!
Imagine the Halo and Skyrim theme ripping through that orchestra. Damn that'll be a dream!

Thanks for the reminder. I was a bit upset with the goty decision, but they're all great games in the end.
@@strayzzfaxz6740 Awards never matter. At the end of the day it's all subjective
@@strayzzfaxz6740 Leaving aside the public we had a great year in video games
2023 has been a great year for gaming all along. Lots of great games, and those that turned out to not be excellent were still good. Apart from the obvious dumpster fires, like Gollum, we didn’t really ever got actually bad games. A great year.
In any other year, games like Sea of Stars, Street Fighter 6, Hi-Fi Rush, Pikmin 4, etc would be considered a shoe-in for at least a GOTY nomination, but the fact that all of them got snubbed with no major backlash just goes to show how truly incredible the games this year have been
2023 will go down as one of the greatest years in gaming history
The switch from RE4 to TOTK was smooth asf 🔥
2:14 The whole thing is great but I really just need a full version of the TotK theme on its own because holy-
Someone give Mr. Pedro some water, flowers, and a raise! Dude was living his best life in that moment and I love to see people loving what they do.
I doubt he needs a raise. He works for Hans Zimmerman, won an award for the music in Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End, has over 600+ custom made flutes and gets to do what he loves for a living. Guy's living his best life.

my god the TotK part is amazing, I love how they add in the drum machine to make it not as jarring when Greater Together comes in. Yet another great medley :))
Re4 into TOTK was absolutely stunning
No matter how cringe the rest of the VGAs is, the orchestra is truly the best and most genuine part of the show.
No cringe humor, no awkward celeb cameo, or awkward developer commentary, just a pure celebration of games.
Can't be genuine if we aren't even listening to them. It's a synthetic playback. There's a lot of ways of noticing it if you pay attention to the pianist and the drummer, but honestly, the sound quality gaves it away.

“Flute” guy is actually either clarinet or oboe guy I can’t quite tell, IT DOESNT MATTER THOUGH BECAUSE THEY ARE AMAZING EITHER WAY
at first he was playing a bass flute and then he switched to some other goofy ahh instruments
Looks like most or all of what he played were flutes of some kind. At least a Bass flute, Subcontrabass (I think) flute, and I'm not exactly sure about the instrument at 1:43, but I'm pretty sure it's some kind of fipple flute.
What's the instrument he's playing during Spiderman 2 and how does it sound like? I swear I couldn't hear anything that sounded distinctly different or that matched his rythm during that bit, but could clearly hear the... clarinet (?) he played at the very end.
@@jorgeporras9262 I think that's a Subcontrabass flute or Double Contrabass flute. Either way, it would be a fairly low sound and probably harder to pick out of the rest of the orchestra than the other, more piercing instruments he played.

This is what every award show needs. A moment of unity, just to celebrate how incredible each one of these works are. I've never played Tears of the Kingdom, I've never even had a switch. But damnit, I felt like applauding the game for just existing after hearing that music.
Zelda games has always been known for their music, look at Ocarina of time there so many memorable tracks. There's something magical about Zelda music that you can't find from other games.
The TOTK theme gives me chills really, reminded of all the emotions and joy this game made me feel and all the anticipation to finally play it. But still, congratulations to BG3 and all the team behind it ! Well deserved
Just remember: There is not a "better game" between these amazing candidates. Baldur's Gate 3 won the award because it's achievements. So great to hear "Yötön Yö (Nightless Night)" as the Alan Wake II tribute. That song, in both its sung and instrumental forms, is such an integral part of the in-game experience that it will live in your head rent-free indefinitely. Fantastic medley all around!
Yeah, whoever picked that song really did their homework or maybe Remedy themselves submitted it. Either way the best and most fitting song easily 🔥
I remember when people were wondering if AWII would have any piece of music quite as iconic as "Welcome to Bright Falls" from the first game. As it turns out, YES. 🤩

Love how each section of the medley had its own distinct feel. Every year has that to an extent, but the personality of each game really shines through this year.
Mario Wonder with the whimsical trombone and strings, Baldur’s Gate with the choir, Zelda with the piano, and Spider-Man with the drum machine, it really shows what makes each of these games different.
