She fit in just perfectly bringing her own sound and what she learned having mr Nat King Cole as her Father..Try not to compare this to what you've heard or what you hear in your generation..just enjoy

Disco?? Natalie Cole is the daughter of Nat King Cole and she has a gospel feel to most of her songs. She crossed over to the Pop charts mainly because of her name and she tried to rival Aretha with a soulful and church sound. To me, they both had their place and she was another good artist gone too soon! NOTE: Her former husband Marvin Yancy, who wrote most of her BIG hits was definitely gospel...which is why most of her songs had that feel.
If I remember correctly, Natalie for a minute admittedly immitated Aretha’s style in her songs (did a good job too), glad she had abandoned that and did her own thing though.
