  • Curtin University surprised and delighted its students and staff at lunchtime on campus with a grand performance - a rousing rendition of dozens of bagpipers and drummers, from five converging marching bands who appeared from behind various buildings dressed in casual clothes like students. The crowd was wowed by the impromptu appearance of these champion pipe bands from across Perth.

This literally gives me chills... So many different people, different backgrounds, different ages, different stories, different looks, different etnicies and so on. All coming together for only one thing... Music! It reallt shows the fraternization of all those people together. I love it ❤ Humans are made to love each other, not to hate each other.

      @@soslothful
Yes it was written by 2 Germans, as a tribute to the spirit of the Highlands after the Highland Games that were held in Germany, and as an act of admiration to the fact that people could again be friends despite their history.
Despite what many people think, it's pretty modern, as it was written in 1982. It's special because it so well expresses the Highland spirit, most people will mistake it for an older traditional Scottish song, so it shows the deep understanding people from different cultures can achieve.
There are lyrics too, though they are not well known.

Land of my fathers, we will always be
Faithful and loyal to our own country.
In times of danger we will set you free,
Lead you to glory and to victory.

Gone is the past, let us start anew,
Let this hope of peace always remain
Spirit of Scotia, be strong and true,
Then your children will smile again.

Hail, Caledonia to our ancient pray’r,
In this Highland Cathedral, let our standards bear,
Joining together with on dream to share,
God bless the people of this land so fair.

Rise, Caledonia let your voices ring
In this Highland Cathedral of our God and King,
Who joy and liberty to all will bring,
Come, let your heart with love and courage sing.
