Anthony Mason's foot work is immensly underrated for his size. Fundamentals was everything in those days. Those players from that era demonstrated some amazing foot work.
As a life long Knick fan I watched this game as a 12 year old soon to be 13. My Knicks were beast we always had solid squad with Ewing Starks & company. Im 43 in 4 weeks. 👀. The NBA was very different then. Better really. Much better. More physicality / Pride on the defensive end & more parity. Elite guys & complimentary role players on damn near every team. Miss 90s ball. 🏀
I'll be 43 this year and I fell in love with the game because of 90s ball. It can't be duplicated and it's sad that the game has become about money and phony legacies. I'm just glad we saw it in a more pure state.
I haven't watched any highlights of this game since it happened. The Knicks played their ass off but just couldn't get the stops at the end. Broke my heart.
The thing that fascinates me about this series is that the Knicks were hungry and determined yet the Bulls never fell into complacency (as we saw with prior threepeat attempts where uneasy lay the head that wore the crown).

In my opinion when you allow men to be physical "within the rules" it naturally brings out your competitive nature which in turn gives you a better product on the court. NBA is missing that today and ratings are down...

It felt like 6 regular nba games.. no special intros, no finals trophy on the court , no special summer blockbuster movies besides bad boys.. Game 3 of this series was my favorite. They beat the Knicks by 20 in that game with Jordan shooting like crap but making up for it with his defense, passing and free throw shooting. And the Bulls had a couple of face to face situations. Pip vs Starks, then Jordan vs Starks. But Game 3 was the game I knew the Bulls would win this series.

His shooting lines by game: Game 1 - 10 for 27 Game 2 - 12 for 32 Game 3 - 3 for 18 Game 4 - 18 for 30 (his one good shooting game) Game 5 - 11 for 24 (his one ok shooting game) Game 6 - 8 for 24 This is the part of the Jordan lore everyone likes to forget. MJ chucked up the ball a LOT to get his points, but he was usually bailed out by the refs often enough to save his scoring efficiency by shooting far more FTs than anyone else.

The 96 team was the best of all those teams, but I'd take the first three-peat over the second. From 97-98 MJ was relying mostly on the fadeaway instead of exploding by & over defenders like he did in the early 90's. The first 3-peat Bulls simply ran you off the floor.
