Speedy, slimy, and armed with a suction cup mouth full of razor sharp teeth -- The Sea Lamprey is nature's LARGEST parasite. What will happen when Coyote is quickly submerged into a tank full of these blood sucking creatures? What about one THOUSAND of them?! So, I'm gonna say this, and I think it hasn't been said yet, but Coyote has done an AMAZING job at filling the gaping hole left by Steve Irwin. He has the same passion and love for animals, education, and people, that Irwin did and I absolutely appreciate everything the team has done

One of the greatest fears is fear of the unknown. Lampreys are bizarre creatures to most. They're so different from other fish, and because of their alien appearance, they seem like they could be unpredictable. But what Coyote has done here is take away that unknown aspect about them. Even when fearing for their lives with nowhere to get out, they remain uninterested in humans and mammals in general. To get one to latch onto you, you have to really force the situation, and they don't even stay on once they realize you have mammalian blood.
From appearance and feeding habits alone, irrational fears of these animals will remain, but at least some people can put their fears to rest, knowing now that these creatures want nothing to do with you in any scenario.

This was really educational! He knew the lamprey wouldn't really attack him, and hyped it up as a maybe for the show, and it paid off in the end by making people less fearful of them. Just like the lesson of most of these videos. Animals are not as aggressive as you think
I am questioning if Coyote does this because of insane bravery, stupidity, insanity, or all of the above. Still we learn things about these animals. So keep doing a good job Coyote

As someone who lives in the rainy hills of southern New Brunswick Canada I have seen so many lamprey eels that at this point I get more scared if I see a mouse then one of these supersize leeches

@@ZacTFF I know plenty of people who've become sick off them, even a couple who have died within two or three weeks of having theirs. I had to tally people coming in and out of a meeting for months last year (govt. reg.s) and every week for months on end there would be people who couldn't attend because they felt too sick after having theirs... often a week or two later. Others said they felt foggy, or had issues with bleeding. That isn't normal for a jag. And that was from people who support them.
Yeah, I'd rather get in a tub of angry lampreys. Difference is I'm not forced to get an ID to prove I've been bitten by lampreys.

Wow, very brave to do such a stunt Coyote! But I was wondering, since the dunk tank has way more water than the aquarium tank does, doesn’t that mean you’d have to put more alarm cue pheromone in the dunk tank to get the same reaction?
I had the same thought.........I would think that he would have had to put way more of the alarm cue in the dunk tank to get a good reaction from the lamprey. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Brave Wilderness crew, and I know he is trying to be entertaining while educating (he and they do an excellent job), but he wasn’t going to try to be “eaten alive”. 😆👍🏼😄
Honestly I doubt it. This is not venom, as long as they sense it then they scatter, the amount of it doesn’t change the reactor really.

Either that pheromone that he put in the dunk tank wasn't strong enough or he didn't use enough for that amount of water but they didn't seem to freak out as much as they did in the aquarium, you would have thought they would have been jumping out of the dunk tank the same way they were trying to get out of the aquarium.

I have mad respect for him. As a person that has a great fear of those things and once had a nightmare after seeing one of them I would rather die than even go near one nonetheless go in a tank with about 1,000 while they are drugged to possibly go berserk. Basically in 4-5th grade (if they didn't teach you) you would learn about them (they don't kill humans.) People tried eating cooked sea lamprey and they didn't like it. I feel like you should try sea lamprey. (I get you aren't like that) but I think you should try it.
