Soda Stereo was a rock band formed in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1982. The band's lineup consisted of lead singer and guitarist Gustavo Cerati, bassist Zeta Bosio, and drummer Charly Alberti. During their career, the band issued seven studio albums before disbanding in 1997.

The song belongs to a great Argentinian band of the 70's called "Vox Dei" ( God's Voice in Latin). Is one of a song series of their masterpiece, the album called "The Bible". Soda's version is quite accurate, including their own touch, of course, specially during Gustavo 's terrificbguitar solo. The MTV show was the only time I listened to this song performed by them, that's why I guess Gustavo presented it as "bonus track";of the show. You guys are great, with the finest taste of music and I love your reactions. Keep going on this way, and please more Soda reactions for ever !!!! ❤

Cerati's version is excellent, but I still like the original version from late 1969 and early 1970 by Vox Dei
The drummer is the same and only in Soda Stereo, Charly Alberti. That MTV show was performed in the US, a loong time ago. We miss you, Gustavo. Great reaction, folks ❤!!

·Waited so long for this guys, knew you would love it. To answer you questions
- This was performed in the US in 1996. In this "plugged" concert they performed some of their songs in a very different way, with more of a psichodelic style. For example, I don't know if you reacted to "en la ciudad de la furia" yet, but the normal version they play live on tours, and the version played here, are totally different and both incredibly awesome. Worth reacting both versions, a totally different experience.
- The drummer is the same, Charly Alberti, as dad realized towards the end.
- This particular song, Genesis, is a cover from a band called Vox Dei, founded in 1967. Their released their album "La biblia" (The Bible) in 1971, with Genesis being the first song of the album. So it's a classic from 1971, honored 25 years later by Soda Stereo. They didn't do these type of covers usually. As Gustavo said at the beginning, it was a "bonus track".

Even though this show is an MTV unPlugged, Soda Stereo make it 'rePlugged'. It was one of the agreements between MTV and the band, because Soda Stereo wasn't comfortable to make it unplugged at all. The show was recorded and broadcasted in 1996, at the MTV studios in Miami, US. And btw, it's the same drummer ;)

Hi, guys! great reaction as usual! They are the three usual members of Soda (Gustavo singer and guitarist, Charlie on drums, Zeta on bassist) only much younger 😂. Vox Dei is an Argentine rock band from Quilmes (Greater Buenos Aires), formed in 1967, considered a founding group of Argentine rock and one of the few active bands of that generation. Among their most important milestones are having made a conceptual album based on texts and poems from the Holy Scripture: The Bible, from 1971, a pioneering album of its kind, in the field of Rock in Spanish.

Imagine how EPIC is SODA STEREO that CIRQUE DU SOLEIL made a show in their honor named SEPT7MO DIA (the name of one of their songs) and is the only show honoring a ROCK BAND ever. The other show honoring a band is "LOVE" (The Beatles) and then "ONE" (Michael Jackson, but is Pop music). Both shows are in LAS VEGAS. The music of the show was produced by Charly Alberti (the drummer) and Zeta Bosio (the bass guitar player) using the original tracks in the same studio where SODA STEREO recorded their music.

This song originally belongs to the 1971 concept album titled La Bible, by the Argentine trio Vox Dei, composed of Ricardo Soulé, on voice, guitar, piano and violin; Willy Quiroga, on vocals, guitar, bass and keyboards; Ruben Basoalto, nicknamed El Pulpo, on drums and percussion and Juan Carlos Godoy (originally they were a quartet), on guitar and backing vocals; This band was the founder, along with Los Gatos, Almendra, Moris and Los Abuelos de la Nada of the rock movement in Argentina at the end of the 60's and early 70's

This song originally belongs to the founding rock trio in Argentina called Vox Dei, and is part of the concept album, The Bible, released in 1971, whose lyrics had to be sent to the Argentine Catholic Church to be reviewed and authorized for publication; They were times of bloody dictatorships in the country

They always have been very greatfull with so many great Argentinian bands and musicians that founded the roots of Rock in our country since the 60´s and 70´s. Vox Dei was one of those bands that, as Carlosselan30 said their "BIBLE" album, it´s one of the Argentinian´s Masterpieces of all times. My best regards!. ♥
