- Day two and some mountain insanity. I decided to have a bash at a mountain leading to the Cuillin Ridge - only on my own this time. I headed up the west ridge which was new to me and was questioning my sanity more than once. I was search for something that turned out to be inaccessible on this adventure

I am absolutely addicted to watching these wonderful videos, fantastic work Sir👍
Another great video. Thank you for sharing. Love the tent and the van. Great set up. Liv from Ontario
Really unlucky with the weather, 10/10 for enthusiasm and effort, the end of the video had a real Lord of the Rings Mordor feel to it!
Thanks LH - I went back to Skye a few weeks later and the weather was slightly different. Got a couple of vlogs en route from that trip (60 and 90 minutes long) that'll be out later in the year when I get round to finishing the edits :) Keep an eye out if you like Skye for these ones ;)
Thanks for watching

Even in the worst of the weather you make it so clear, adventure, excitement, enjoyment, I WANT TO BE THERE, see you on the hill ( and we are all a little insane at times).
Thanks Edward - I paid my bad weather cards on Skye on this trip but I got my just reward a few weeks later (a future video 🤔👍)
Thanks for watching
Murray
I've been down the west ridge but never up it, and sat under the Inn Pinn 3 times without attempting it. Too exhausted, too windy, and too alone, so I still have it to do if I get fit again. Bizarrely, every time I've been on Sgurr Dearg it has been clear, which is lucky on Skye I reckon!
Really enjoyed that
Very atmospheric…. Music very fitting. Well done👍
Miss walking in the highlands 👍
Outstanding bud,, great viewing on a Thursday morning. 👍🏻
It was the Cullins in 1986 that ignited my love for Scotland and has ultimately lead to me moving here. We now live on the Moray coast, with the Cairngorms and the sea. Keep up the good work👍👍
I finally got up the In Pin on the coldest Easter in living memory - waterfalls were frozen at sea level. Significant snow patches on Dearg and even a flurry on the climb on the pinnacle...I'm claiming a winter ascent!
Superb :) can’t wait for the white stuff to return - shouldnt be too long before we see the first snow sprinkling the high tops 🤞
Take care and thanks for watching

last two vids have made me smile. Drove from Dublin to Glenbrittle a few years back. Forecast was good. Driving up the West coast the weather was mint. Arrived on Skye and spent 4 days in mist and rain. Still a memorable weekend.(espicall the selection of single malts in Sligachan). Have been back since and got amazing weather. Amazing place. Love the vids. Stay safe. A
Thanks Aidan - glad I am not the only person who has driven here in glorious weather to spend days in th clag and rain 😂😂🥴

Excellent as ever Murray 👍 atb gordon
Some great footage despite the clag, Murray!
Always entertaining and educational mate.
God bless!
Thanks Anthony- hope you enjoyed the video :)
Your enthusiasm and dedication are inspiring, hoping for better weather conditions in the future adventure.
As a lad from Forfar once said it would of been a long way to the top to sit upon rock and enjoy a ham roll... . Especially in that weather
🤣👍 Kirriemuir though.
@@jeg569 aye stand corrected, great singer though. I'm a geordie but prefer him to Brian johnson
Good on you Murray for going for a donner despite the weather.
Was a bit Driech 😭
Awesome Vlog as always Murray.
Too bad you had another misty rainy day…but..you did it
Dry top,wet bottom…brrr!
Nice and roomy tent. I like how you can close off the sleeping areas
Take care 🇨🇦 ❤️
thanks Sue - the tent is grand - a wee bit bigger (and heavier ) than my other tent !!lol

Thanks Murray, that was one claggy day, well done for determination to get so far.The InnPin is a huge challenge, not one l will be doing anytime soon, unless watching on CZcams on my comfy sofa. Take care and thanks again....nice tent btw Alioban x
Great vlog from a great location, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Gary 👍
Excellent watch - the right choice to turn back. Your narration is top notch 👍 putting Skye on now on my list. Just wondering what camera & microphone you used on the mountain. Quality was excellent. ATB Mark.
Great video😀.Done loads of scrambling but never been up to Skye to do any.The only one I’ve done is Sgùrr na Banachdaich…Thanks for the tour of the tent 😁..It’s a belter 😁👏🏻
Loved this! Great video as always :) Such a shame about the conditions but looks like the perfect moody ascent!
Unlucky with the weather mate but I really like your camper van setup. Plenty of space inside there and I would’ve struggled getting out of there in the morning for a hike. When you uploading your Stob Binnein trip with Ray? I’m sure you had it uploaded but it disappeared.
Hi Gaz - the Ray vlog is due up later in the year - I didn’t mean to post it a few weeks ago - too much editing going on 😂😂
Wifey and I are moving back to the UK from Australia, we'll now be referring to adverse weather conditions as 'atmospheric', thanks for the laugh.
You may hear me saying atmospheric conditions in a few videos 😂😂😂
@@ScotlandsMountains haha, ive a strange feeling that you might, along with developing a set of gills. Keep up the great work.
Beautiful place view
Well done Murray. Personally I'd have poked my head out the van door and said "Nah, not today" 😁
Must admit - if I knew there was zero chance of clearing weather - I may have gone back to bed 😆😉

Atmospheric stuff Murray, just a shame it's been so claggy for you all!
The fascinating documentary 'Munro: Mountain Man' with Nicholas Crane is compelling & educational viewing for all hikers, & includes some splendid footage on Sgurr Dearg!
🤞for better conditions next time.
Had to stop everything to watch this . So atmospheric! No, I don’t think it’s insane to be drawn to the mountains 🏔 if it’s in the blood you have to go whatever the weather. Thanks for shots of vegetation - one of my interests., and thanks for another great adventure.Hope you were not too uncomfortably soaked. 👍🍀🌞
Thanks Anne - I soon warmed up and dried off when I got back to the tent :)

nice 1 keep it up ☺
I was looking out for the Nazgul in the background when he reached the top from the Lord of The Rings 💍
Stay safe and get those overtrousers on.

Good walk. I Remember the waterfall. Been there couple years ago. But didnt hike that time.
I'll need to go back when the weather gods are smiling (I may have used all my good weather tokens from Skye on a more recent trip though ;)

Great stuff Murray really enjoying your quality videos, did the In Pin many years ago in good conditions and always thought I'd return to do the ridge, age is catching up with me so it better be soon! I'd be interested to know what weather app you use when wild camping, I'd love to see a cloud inversion again just like your recent experience with the renegade scot! thanks for sharing, go well!
Damm that weather. Lu ky for the family there is a tent😆
Shame about the weather, the views would have been amazing. It did look a miserable day out though when you were up there. Though I do find they can be some of the best days once you get back, have warned up and then recall them. Anyway Murray as always thanks for sharing and stay safe out there.
Thanks Tony - I certainly felt better once I got dried out and warmed up in the tent ! My next trip to Skye after this one was slightly different - vlogs still to come ;)

@@ScotlandsMountains cheers Murray!
Nice pack. It looks similar to a 30 L waterproof mountaineering bag that I've used almost daily for the past 6 years. However, while my pack is the same blue color the lid is yellow.
It’s a sigmond pack from Decathlon - it’s been pretty good so far 👍
@@ScotlandsMountainsOkay, different make. My pack is a Mountain Hardware Scrambler.
Really bad luck with the weather. Another few months i guess you will be looking forward to some of the white stuff.
I would like to ask you, is there such a thing as really good waterproof top & trousers, not just shower proof, that can withstand prolonged bouts of rain that does not get condensation on the inside?
cheers.
Not in my experience TBH - some are good and better then others but none that are 100% breathable and waterproof 😆 maybe one day

vov very nice video
Hi from a Yorkie in Taiwan, love the content, curious about your big tent as I’m looking for a new one?
Thanks Andrew :) the side tent for the van is a cocoon breeze inflatable drive away tent - only used it once but was pretty decent :)

I admire your video style, and I truly enjoy watching them. Thank you for your work, you're an inspiration 👍. May I ask you, which camera, lens and drone you use? I'm planning to improve my gear. I'm bit of a video amateur nerd 😅 and I have also some jobwise nosiness (lens designer). Hello from the Swiss mountains
Hello - I have a Sony 7iii, an insta 360 R and a small drone (think it’s a mavic )

@@ScotlandsMountains Hey Murray, thanks for answering, I appreciate. Slainte Mhath 💪🤠👍
Better a rainy day in the hills than a sunny day in the office, spot on. Just wondering what make and model your van tent is please? Thanks
Hi Ash - it’s a cocoon breeze dive away tent - only used it on this trip but seemed pretty good :) 👍
@@ScotlandsMountains thanks very much, something else to add to the ever growing wanted list 👍👍👍
Wet but worth the effort
Ahhh such a shame about the clag....as you know the views are epic !!! Never mind always next time!!!. Don't think ur insane I'd have done the same in hope of breaking though hahaha. Great tent there aswell Murray 👍..... u just cannit beat Isle.of skye man !!!. ATB Simon.
Thanks Simon - its an excuse (not that I need one to return!). I have been back to Skye since this trip and must say that the weather gods had different plans on that trip (still to come on the channel !!)

Lovely setup with the tent - how long did it take to go up?
What are your trousers? They seem very versatile.

I really like your videos, long-lasting interaction registration💝💝
