Abandoned Son of Dracula School - and the Haunt event coming to it

- The Abandoned Military school in Lake Elsinore, California is one of the most legendary buildings in the region. Tucked into a forgotten corner of the lake that was once hoped to be the playground of the rich and famous Hollywood elite, the building started construction as an athletic and country club for the rich and famous, but never opened. Later, it became a military boarding school where generations of boys lived on the campus until finally in 1977, it was abandoned, and has remained abandoned ever since. The most famous student to study within the walls was Bela Lugosi, Jr, better known at the time as "Bill." His famous father Bela was already legendary for portraying Dracula in the 1931 Universal Horror movie that started it all. During his more successful years, the Bela Lugosi and his wife Lillian kept vacation homes nearby the school as well, meaning the original (and many say the Best) Count Dracula once roamed the halls of this building, and lived just a stone's throw away. After 43 years of being closed to all but the most daring vandals, vagrants, and other trespassers, the building has become the stuff of numerous local legends, a piece of curiosity for tens of thousands of locals who live nearby or grew up in the nearby Inland Empire area.
Now, though, a new opportunity to visit the grounds of this incredible nearly century-old historic building is arising, and in keeping with its Dracula connection, it's going to be a HAUNT that finally lets visitors on the grounds.
NIGHTMARE AT THE ACADEMY will begin Oct 9 and run on weekend nights until Halloween. There are also plans for a pumpkin patch, food, hayrides, and more! The maze won't actually run inside the building itself, but the team behind the aMAZEing haunt to come have granted access to the abandoned, dark, mysterious, and purportedly haunted former school of the Son of Dracula, and they want you to come along too!!

Cool tour....thanks! For some reason, this reminds me of the old Lake Norconian Club. We used to live in Norco when I was a kid. I remember those building, but I didn't appreciate the history until much later. The Norconian has an interesting Disney tie-in too, as you know.

Hey Justin, Like in the movies the characters that seem to be frightened of everything always lives towards the end of the movie. The ones that seem brave or pretend to be brave and the ones that always say "Don't worry, I got everything under control, I'll go check what that noise is" are the ones that always get attacked and die first.

God, I have so many uses for this place. What I would give. Would love to collaborate you guys for all kinds of events at this location. Would love to rent this out for filming location for horror films as a mental hospital or creepy estate; murder mystery dinners/ escape rooms or even a Gatsby themed party in the back by the pool.

There are pictures on line of Dracula with Bela Jr in uniform online. I'd say possibly at the Academy because one is signed "To The General - Count Dracula"
