    I had originally applied to 400 Tech sales jobs by just smacking the apply button on Linkedin and got only 1 job interview. Now i have made a list of 600 SDR Managers, hiring managers, Director and VP of sales and have built out a sales cadence to email, Linkedin message, and cold call 600 people ( about 2500 outbound activities) just to get some interviews.

    I've really been thinking about making the change as I already work a similar position right now in the car business. I have worked 8 years in business development at a car dealership and thinking about making the change into tech sales. I appreciate content like yours getting it real with the information. Really thought about signing up for the CourseCareers course on tech sales that everyone has been raving about. The only thing that has deterred me a bit has been the massive lay offs I've heard about from last year. I'm aware I have to be positive, but I feel like there's a lot I have to prepare for. What is your opinion or wisdom on this thought process? Changing jobs after that long I've noticed feels almost like Stockholm syndrome.. you want the change but it is also a big nerve racking.

    This isn't just applied to sales, it's for any job. I'd wager to say it's far more effective in other career fields as they aren't expecting you to act like an SDR at all so it's worth practicing. The question is, when will AI become the new hard blocker for attempts to reach people on all mediums? Been watching the AI SDR calls go off and while it's goofy right now, I see that being a real issue where the cold calls will not work anymore along with cold emails within a decade. Thoughts?

    • @techsales-higherlevels
      @techsales-higherlevels  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Hard to say but I think you'll see more of a co-pilot method versus it replacing SDRs altogether. There will be teams able to hire fewer SDRs at once but I still think it's a ways out.
      AI will be great for predictable phone calls like tech support with common problems or ordering food as an example. I don't think AI will be as successful as a highly skilled SDR, and even if it was they would have to throttle calls anyhow.
      The SDR job is no doubt changing but I think it will just continue to require more qualified and strategically minded candidates. The days of tons of volume outreach are done.

    If I’m doing a cold email for an entry level position, should I attach a cover letter and resume or just let the person know I’ve applied to the role? I’m applying to some internships and entry level positions.

    • @techsales-higherlevels
      @techsales-higherlevels  Před 4 měsíci

      The goal should be to set up a conversation. In theory sending an email/cover letter may help but if I'm being honest it's rare I'd take the time to read it unless I was responsible for going through all resumes and cover letters for the position.
      To be honest I've had most success messaging on LinkedIn which is also effectively a resume with my profile, so I might suggest experimenting when it comes to email. LinkedIn I don't think it's necessary because your profile should be up to date, etc....

      - Why is now the right time to hire a sales person?
      - Are you already generating sales yourself?
      - What kind of sales person are you looking for? SDR? AE?
