I saw the short about how this song was started, using Biblical words as the inspiration.
Keeping with that same topic, I realized that I heard this song much differently than it sounds like it was supposed to sound.
At face value, it's talking about a man's insecurities and a woman's love, regardless of those doubts.
The exact same idea can be applied to the way that Christ sees those who love Him.
Personally, my life has elements of both interpretations of the song: I have those insecurities in my relationship with the woman I love, and I have those doubts in my relationship with my Savior and Creator, but it's incredible to see it from the other person's perspective. The unconditional love, the respect, and dedication, regardless of imperfections and sin, is such a beautiful thing that this song encapsulates very well.
I do wish that the repentance, and the turning away from the sin, was focused on a bit more near the end, but it's still great.
