      @@12010601 How is it on a longer ride? I am looking into getting one, I am a first time rider, was planning on starting on an antique honda CB350 but have decided to start on a newer bike due to reliability and I am between one of these and a Vulcan 900

      @@jasonzimmerman7379 Haven't taken it on a longer ride that 2 hours. This isn't my first motorcycle but I haven't ridden in about 20 years so I am an inexperienced rider and this bike feels perfect. After a few months of riding and gaining some more experience I feel I could have went with something a little bigger. If you are planning on some long distance trips I may consider something bigger on the highway.

    • @ecole146
      @ecole146 Před 5 lety +3

      @@jasonzimmerman7379 I took my Vulcan S on a 15 hour round trip over a weekend back in September. The seat really isn't designed to be ridden that long, and it gets pretty uncomfortable after a little over an hour. If you stop frequently to rest your butt it isn't so bad, but putting 15 hours in the saddle over a period of 48 hours left my butt screaming for relief by the time I was close to getting back home. So if you're wanting to take long trips, I wouldn't recommend it, but if you're just looking to take it a few hours to your destination and back, it's no problem. I have a windscreen on mine which helps a lot if you're cruising at 70+ mph.

    The first 5 minutes of this review is probably one of the best that I have seen on CZcams. The view from the side as opposed to the ones you get from someone's helmet camera was really useful, plus the fact that he is the same height as me, helped me visualise myself on it. Great review.
    The only doubt I have about this bike is the sitting position, as I have a dodgy back and wonder if the sofa sitting position would be painful for me.

    I'm a beginner and wanted a cruiser but in Australia you're limited to a 650cc or less so this is as big as you can go. Amazing bike for me to learn on it's got more power than i need, goes where you want and so easy to manage. I'm 6'4" and 115kg and with the extended reach I fit really comfortably

    @Censuwine Před 5 lety +16

    I have had the 2017 model for two years now. I'm not a beginner rider but I can confirm all the points raised in this video. It really is unbelievably easy to ride and goes around corners and even hairpins. They set up mine with mid-range reach and was tempted to pull them back to short reach even though I am 181 cms tall (5'11''). I normally ride nakeds with legs tucked tightly beneath. I figured that drawing in the pegs a further 2.54 cms ((1'') would not make all that much difference so I left it as it was.
    Some riders don't like the sound; they think it's not loud enough. It doesn't really bother me. What I did adjust were the mirrors. I bought some extenders because I was having trouble seeing past my shoulders. As for the rest: I just left as is.
    It is not normal for someone who has a thing about European bikes to sing the praises of a Japanese bike but take it from me, this is one amazing bike. I also can't understand how they squeezed so much juice out of a 649cc engine. I took it up to 155 kph (96 mph in British money) and was well within its limits and capable of more.

    Hi MotoChooch,from Bombay India. Agree with you 100%. Iam 166 cm,67kg and started riding a year ago after a 30 year gap- on the Vulcan 650 S. Perfect for a light weight beginner / re rider like me. If ever theres something like a Sporty Cruiser, this is it. Kawasaki got it right with the engineering, handling, engine responses, transmission and the ergo-fit system. Lach of LED headlights is something Kawasaki should correct at no extra cosy. Good wingscreens are available to handle the wind blast at 120-150kph. My only crib is after 150-200 km riding, I lose all awareness of my behind (numb bum). Guess I have to do some seat redesigning. In heavy bumper to bumper city traffic, vehicles alongside tend to be unaware of you filtering up- its so relatively silent. So some work on the exhaust systems which may also help to improve the meagre 13 cm clearance, 16 cm is ideal. Shockers and brakes are more than adequate. Riding the twisties is simply joyful. Other than that, Vulcan S 650 forever. Plus any other bikes you want to have👌.

    I'm a new rider and I've had mine for a year now as of Oct and love it. Rode over 8k in a year. I've put in a power commander, two brothers exhaust as well as had the seat customized. You'll need ear plugs for the two brothers but i guess should wear them anyway. Makes the bike sound awesome and not so sneaky which is safer imo. Maybe it's placebo effect but i also feel it's a little faster with the two brothers and the power commander. Takes some getting use to though as it's pretty loud. Due to the riding position there's a lot of pressure on the tailbone so gel seat has been awesome too. Love this bike. Also added givi 22l bags.

    I have the Vulcan S, Ninja 650 and the Yamaha Raider and I find myself wanting and riding this more than my other bikes for all the reasons and more he describes. It’s a fun fun motorcycle and with the Delkevic exhaust sounds soooo good ! Get one ☝️

      I'm stuck between the Ninja 650 and the Vulcan S and I think a test drive will be the decider. Haven't been on a bike in a decade and I was an idiot who learned to ride on a ZX9R.

    I agree 100%. I’m a beginner rider and when I was looking for my first motorcycle, the Vulcan S just popped out at me. I started looking at reviews and I decided to go to sit on one. Rode out on one the same day. That was about a month ago and I love it. I’m always looking for a reason to get on it and ride! I did go with the café, I just thought it looked a bit cooler.

      Check with your CO regarding riding motorcycles in the military. My buddy was a marine and they made him take extra safety courses before they let him ride.

    Glad you liked the bike. My 2015 (non-ABS) was my first (and so far only) bike. I love it. I guess I'll have to watch more of your videos to see if you bought one. Addressing the weight and suspension preload, I'm 5'6' and ~250lbs (Yeah, I'm a fat guy) and I adjusted the preload two clicks tighter and it feels great. I ride mine to work on the freeway in Fort Worth / Irving every day that the weather is good. I did put a cheap windscreen on mine and feel pretty much no wind at 85+. Part of why I chose the KVS is due to my short height, and short-for-my-height inseam. At 29", I needed something relatively low. I can flat-foot with both feet. I'd feel more comfortable with something a little higher now, but staring out, it was perfect. After 3+ years of riding the thing, I still LOVE it. I'm only now starting to think about getting another bike, and a 900 Custom is probably my first choice at this point.

    Given that the engine is a modified Ninja - yeah, it has TORK and will accelerate fast, pushing you into the seat. I have a 2017 with the extended reach set up. Great commuting bike to work and back.

    I have a kawasaki vulcan 900 and love it. You are right it is kinda heavy and takes a minute to get the feel of tight cornering. I'm not a new rider though but I am 5'6'' 150 lbs. And had alot of older inline 4 sport cruisers that definently handled better.

    I have a 2017 Vulcan S ABS Cafe. These are just great bikes for the price. These bikes are surprisingly fast as he says in this video. Super smooth engine. Great bike for beginners and veteran riders both. I love this bike. It’s not a Harley and it’s not trying to imitate a Harley. That’s what I love about it. It’s in a class all by itself.

    Yes. As a Vulcan S owner myself, I agree that this machine is awesome! Just make sure you can get an after market exhaust, more powerful than the stock one and you'll be fine.
    I have a pretty cool exhaust made by Miller = AAA level of awesomeness. But again just make sure that the part is legal where you live.
