- Chris and Brady take a break from their bear hunt to go over their big game rifle setups. These setups are built for all forms of western hunting, not just bear hunting.

I have a new Browning Xbolt. The Hells Canyon Speed Long Range 280AI. My scope is a Leupold. A VX6 HD 4x24x52mm TMOA reticle. I also have a Leupold 20 MOA base. Leupold 34mm rings. I put this together. To take on a spring bear hunt next spring.
I have a 6.5 PRC Browning X-Bolt Pro rifle at 6 lbs. 3 0z. It attains this weight with its carbon fiber wrapped stock and light, fluted barrel, bolt and bolt handle. All metal parts but the trigger and bolt head are burnt bronze Cerakote coated, as are the matching Talley scope rings.
In the Talley rings sits a Bushnell LRTS 4.5 - 18 x 44 scope with illuminated G3 small Xmas tree reticle. Great for long range hunting here in Nevada.
Eric, I have been looking at the 6.5 PRC in a similar weight rifle. How do you like that recoil? I love my 6.5 CM recoil but wanted to have a more dual purpose rifle that could also handle elk out to 400 yards ish with the 6.5 PRC. My 30-06 punches too much for all day shooting at the range. Thanks.
Love those Browning rifles, decked out for sure.
Thanks for checking out the video! And we agree... they are amazing to shoot.
Those are both slick set ups. I have seen Brady’s a few times when he does those hunt bag dump videos. Neville has his own little twist on the same gun. I actually was inspired to go with a heavier weapon set up. My .300 WSM with a 26 inch barrel and muzzle brake is 8.4 lbs naked. I do have a 20 MOA rail as well and currently have a Redfield 4-12x40 Revenge scope on it that my brother gave me but have been thinking of upgrading to a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x40 CDS ZL 30 mm soon. I was going to go 50mm but many people told me that 40 mm will work great in hunting 🦌 situations. Thank you for sharing. 🏕🏔🇺🇸
Glad to hear we rubbed off on you, Forrest! That's the beauty of hunting, anything will work and it's fun to put together pieces of gear for a hunt. If you ever have specific questions, we are always here to help. Thanks for checking out the video.
Backcountry rifles, hahaha. Christ, what’s the weight on those beasts?
It might not be for everyone, but this system works great for my style of hunting. Here are my thoughts, the weapon is what in the end, does the work. So to me, I'm not going to attempt to cut corners and try to build a "lightweight" backcountry rifle. This rifle I have packed around some crazy long trips on multi-day and week-long backpack trips. This rifle has a solid platform and performs flawlessly. My gun currently sits at 12 pounds with a sling and no ammo. And I honestly don't get annoyed at the weight one bit. I do the same thing with a bow, a heavy platform shoots better in my hand when I'm bowhunting as well.

I had a custom made lightweight backpacking 6.5 PRC to go deep in the mountains. It is a little over 7 lbs. It would have been cheaper if I just lost 25 lbs for more efficient backcountry hikes, but what the hell. I ‘m working on it ; )@@GOHUNT
I second that. ""... but what the hell, I'm working on it."
Brady, why not shoot the 300prc? Seems like if you want to shoot 215 bergers the 300prc would be a better option and you likely wouldn't have to hand feed them. Thoughts?
What are the total weights for each rifle?
Brady's rifle is right at 12 pounds with the sling attached and no ammo. He prefers a big heavy gun no matter the hunt.
I got to have a magazine on a bolt action while in the woods.
Is it possible to add the named products in the description? Would be interested in the bipeds each of you have chosen and the rear rest for the butt-stock.
Thank you
Thoughts on 1:8 twist 300 win vs 300 prc?
I just picked a hells canyon in 270wsm.
Man those are sweet I love long range guns.
If you are using the vx3i, how many MOA of adjustment do you get with the dial? Isn't that one revolution only? If you only get 15 MOA, how far out does that take you? 500 yds?
Does the McMillan stock really make that much of a difference compared to the hells canyon without the McMillan stock ?
What do you guys use for ear protection when hunting with a muzzle brake?
I like it! I’m thinking about getting a browning x bolt.
Nelson Cobb I love mine
Perfect set up
Yall have fun lugging those 11-12 lb rifles in them mountains.....I'll stick to my christensens or my stainless classic abolt.
did you do anything to the triggers or shooting factory?
Wow! I hope I had one.
Yeah browning and Winchester make the mag boxes very anti Reloader. Can’t seat anything long without turning the gun into a single shot.
What called stock pouch
It is a Triad Tactical Stock Pack
@gohunt what 20 moa rail do you run for the x bolt?
Brady, what thread pitch does the Hells Canyon have for that break?
I've been looking for months to find one of those rifles in 300 Win Mag and still have had no luck.
You guys using FFP or 2nd?
The Leopold is a second for sure. I’d imagine the vortex is an FFP but don’t quote me on it
Your bipod costs more than my rifle...
Fellow Browning men!
Browning is best💪💪
I’ve got one in 300WM. It’s the Max Long Range. I plan to hand load for it. My question is at 3:24 he hand loads. How does he fit the round into the chamber if it’s too long to fit in the mag? Does it matter? Can the projectile loaded be a little bit longer? And, in general, when hand loading for a 300WM do you just use the same projectiles as you would for a .308?
300 win 30.06 and 308 are all 308 diameter bullets
You tune a load with bullet seating depth after getting a powder charge that shoots well.
Very nice rifles guys I liked

Good info,Brady how many grains of H1000 are you using?
I doubt that he will mention that for safety of those who would read it. H1000 is a good powder for those heavier 30 cal bullets.
Happy to answer this for you. But as Forrest mentioned, I will start off by saying that for all safety in reloading, read the recommended powder weight and always work up from the low end. My 300 Win Mag I'm running 76.7 grains of H1000, Federal 215M primers, Norma brass, 215 Berger Hybrid bullets and I seat them 0.015 off the lands. This Browning has a 26 inch 1:8 twist barrel and with my load combo, I'm pushing 2970 fps and very low ES.

Thanks Brady,I understand working up the loads as every gun is different. My brother has just purchased a BROWNING TWIN to yours, already have H1000 and 215 BERGIES. IT'S going to be fun,Thanks for your HONESTY-HAPPY HUNTING.
@GOHUNT that is very good velocity for that charge and bullet. I run 82.5 gn of H1000 topped with a 180gn at 3050fps and a 24 inch barrel. This is an all purpose load from moose to deer. Nice rifles. Only drawback to a Browning is the lawyerized triggers.
God dam American sniper out here
Haha them big ass rifles do look like sniper rifles
😁👌
Is not bullet! It's Cartridge!
