Digital Crazy Hours and Minutes - WiFi Sync Clock

  • Usually, intermittent motion mechanism such as Geneva drive is necessary to decrease the number of the motors of mechanical digital clock. Contrary, this clock has a constant mesh (permanently engaged reduction gear) between tens and ones places of minute numbers. The ratio of the reduction gear is coprime (7 : 10) and 70 numbers can be shown by one motor. The order of the numbers are not random but optimized to minimize the time to update the time.
    To show the current time correctly when it is powered on, not only the WiFi connection capability but also origin finding mechanism are necessary. This clock has an one-way rotation blocking mechanism. The rotors for minutes are stopped at 00 when it moves backward, but pass through there when rotating forward.
    3D models and code are published in the following site. It needs large (30x30cm) 3D printer.

    Another nice clock from you 👍🏻 By now you must have a whole wall of them 💪🏼 Nice with the mechanical “homing”, you get a bonus point for that! Have you tried with some silicone oil to reduce the sound when it moves?

    • @shiura
      @shiura  Před rokem

      Yeah it is a bit loud so some silicone grease or oil may reduce it.

      Think about shrinking this clock if you have more room for additional clocks.

    can i use regular esp32 board than using stamp-C3? because not easy to find stamp-c3 board in my country

    • @shiura
      @shiura  Před rokem

      Yes, you can use other ESP32 boards. The rear cover is designed for M5Stamp-C3, but the others are universal. Many unused screw holes are prepared on the rear of the frame so you can attach ESP32 using these holes and screws.

      @@shiura Thank u Shiura for your beautifull clock, i can't hold my self to making one of this.... I will use esp32 board from lolin and because the hour ring and frame is too big for my delta 3d printer, i will divide by quarter (hour ring) and half (frame) and glue it, hope this method work 😇

    Hello shiura. I'm sorry I asked so much. I managed to upload the codes to esp32 S3. Now, how should the motor connections be according to S3?

    • @shiura
      @shiura  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Any IO ports you can use. The list of the ports are written in the source code, so you can change the value according to the actual connections you did.

      @@YamamotoTV2021 My printer can print the parts upto 30cm x 30cm and the current model almost reaches to the limit. Already most makers request to shrink or divide it because popular 3D printers are 20x20 or 18x18cm.
