    Very nice tutorial. I also like to grind the show face a little bit because in these affordable sets it also tends to be uneven .I like leather working because is one of those hobbies that you can pretty much start and get to a very good level with 100$ . You can buy all the tools and stuff you need for around 100$ and some good leather for around 50$ . I bought 4 sets of stitching chisels (3,4,5 mm diamond and 3,85mm french) a Japanese skiving knife , a European skiving knife (made in England new) ,some threads ,needles and a mat for around 100$ . I wanted to be quiet cause I live near others so I also bought a thick cutting board to dumben the noice.

      Agreed! I bought a lot of stuff used too. I found a silicone mat on amazon for about $10 that really dampens the sound, plus protects the tips of the punches. I wish I would have started leather working years ago, there is so much I want to make and try!

      @@pappytinkers If you want I have some patterns . Some are mine , some are from different makers. I can send them via email. They are mostly for wallets but I have been working on some pen stands and cases.

    You should experiment with cutting your nails.

    I wonder how to go about those delicate French style prongs

    • @pappytinkers
      @pappytinkers Před 2 měsíci +1

      The exact same way. Polishing metal is the same steps, and the polishing wheel getting in-between the prongs just by holding it flat. Think of butter being squished between the tines of a fork

      @glacialimpala Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@pappytinkers I imagine it could be possible, I was just skeptical because I think of those prongs as a row of knives - and those have to be stropped and sharpened under exact angles and such. I hope polishing wheel will be good enough! Thank you.

      @@glacialimpala because the tines are parallel to each other, the right thickness of sanding stick will automatically keep it at the correct angle. A coffee stirrer worked great for my #4s. The buffing wheel doesn't take off enough material to change the angle. Mine still have the same diamond shape

    My guy, you gotta cut them nails and wash your hands! Nothing but respect to you, and know we’re all telling you this cause we care and want more videos. Great content, very helpful! I wish I would’ve known this a couple of years back lol…

      I'm glad you liked the video! And you're correct, they were an ugly distraction in this video. I still consider remaking this one because of that.

    I really liked the content, speed, instruction and the commentary but DUDE! You gotta nip those butt scratchers on the end of your fingers if you're gonna make videos. Every time I was getting into the video, I got another closeup of them and it churned my curds. I subscribed and liked, though!

      Lol, you are 100% right. I cringe Everytime I watch this one. Almost enough to remake it, and if I ever buy another size, I will. I've been laughing for the last hour over butt scratches! 🤣😂 And thank you for the sub!
