This has been one of my favorite games ever since I emulated the snes version like 18 years ago. JUST now realized there was an anime. Mind blown.
Gosh I can't believe how many hours I put into this fantastic game. This and Lunar: Silver Star Story complete are my favorite RPGs of all time!
Same. I would definitely take an updated 3D version of this on console. Preferably in the style of Vesperia's animation but I'm not picky lol
I have a very special place in my heart for both of those games.
Claus was my favorite character when I played the game and I think he was awesomely portrayed in this series. I love him even more now if that's possible :) Also, the interaction between him and Arche in this episode is fantastic!

So much good voice acting in one video. Johnny Yong Bosch, David Vincent, Michael McConnohie, Karen Strassman, and Patrick Seitz are all very good at what they do. The beginning was like some scene in Code Geass that had Lelouch, Kallen, and Charles all together that never happened. And then Li Xingke comes in for some reason.

Yong Bosch also Voice-Dubbed as Guy Cecil in Tales of The Abyss. He's also Actor was portaying as Adam Park from MMPR
the English dubbing in this one is top notch
My God, this whole OVA is pratically a who's who of voice actors. Not to mention that, so far, it's been entirely canon to the the main game. Didn't think I'd actually see the day a game-based anime would actually be accurate to the source, and even less so that we got it professionally dubbed.

Verkili Yeah, like how they did it in Tales of Symphonia: The Animation. Hated the fact that they excluded the part of the game where they introduced Marble and Chocolat. But then again, I'm pretty sure it'd keep me back from watching the anime because of how sad Marble's death was. :( They also changed a lot of stuff too, for example how they brought back Colette. But as long as there is special hopeless romantic moments (xD), I'm all ears and eyes. :p
Well, I mean the game DID have the characters go into the past, back to the present, then into the future and it'd be hard to add every little detail considering this is an 4 episode OVA. Tales of the Abyss had a good anime, compared to the rest of the Tales anime.

100% false. A book in Symphonia specifically mentions Arche’s natural magical abilities. It’s even strongly implied that Genis and Raine are the ancestors of Arche and Chester and that Collette is the ancestor of Cress and Mint.

@@TequilaMockingBird91??? That's not true. Genis & Raine are half-elves, born of a pureblooded elf mother. No way are they descended from Arche & Chester (a half-elf & a human). Symphonia is the distant prequel to Phantasia, just like Vesperia is the distant prequel to Symphonia.
wow a few minutes in and we're already heavily deviating from the game's story. not only do we miss out on Cress' village getting destroyed, but for some reason Mint is accompanying him in this part when she didn't in the game. This also being where Chester joins in when he was always with the group when they get captured. its weird that the anime decided to heavily deviate from the game like this, but ill give it slack since its only a 4 episode OVA so I imagine they had to change a lot from the game's story and condense it as best as they could.
When I first heard about the Tales series, I didn't know that there were more of them.

I've had the game for years now and I just finished it earlier today. Didn't know it had an anime. XD

Although alluding to a Semi-spoiler... It's also in context what makes Dhaos pretty interesting as well.
I lost my GBA Cartridge for this game. Maybe this will soothe my need of this games story.

The only bad thing is they change some differences and they cut through many parts, but it is good to see the anime from the great childhood game like this one
Imagine if they included every sidequest (including Morlia expansion) into this.
The whole series would be as long as Hunter x Hunter.
It would have 2 seasons, first 25 eps for present and past, while 12 more episodes explores about the world and 1 more episode special for Dhaos battle :)

The fact that you care enough to both notice this and point it out makes me like you a lot.
It's sad that it skips some of the important parts of the storyline shown in the game. Least the dub is pretty good, better then the dub in the GBA game.

EpicAnimeRequiem Eh. Symphonia's Anime wasn't really that good... I mean, it took out Lloyd's entire reason for going on the journey, and overall it was just a really loose string of events that didn't have any cohesion whatsoever because they tried to compress Symphonia's 60 hours of storyline into a 12 episode Anime. If anything deserves a licencing, it's Abyss' Anime.
They did licence it, waited several years, then just said "fuck it" and released the subbed version on DVD that fans had already seen years prior.

Maaaaaaan.....i've played arc the lad and star ocean 2 games but their animation was kinda lazy... I only searched this because I'm currently playing this game on gba emulator... Glad I did. This is top notch animation of my favorite game at the moment.

I guess it's because the animation normally "speed up" the things and change what is , as you can say, "unnecessary" from the game.
They do the same about Manga, in some cases the whole story is changed when put into the anime.
So now they took off the parts of the game that wasn't so "important" and put only the most important events.
in my eyes those events where one of the most important events ... the one at the start of the game
The Tales of Phantasia anime isn't that good (since it's a four part ova and not everything can fit into it) but the Tales of the Abyss anime is great.

@ILoveAnimeandVG2 Problem is I don't have the Eternia anime on hand in anyway whatsoever. Even if I wanted to upload it and had it available to me, there would be a lot of subbing that I wouldn't want/be able to do, not to mention rendering and uploading would take decades. With just 4 episodes and already being in English this is a much easier project. And yeah the ToE anime wasn't horrible, I just lost interest in watching it quickly. I'd rather watch it than Abyss' honestly.

i wouldn't in any way say it was stupid. it tried to tell an interesting side story that could have been probable, but even i agree that Farah was a lot more aggressive and bossy then she was in the master piece game, oh well. but to be honest, none of the anime's are faithful to the games, so much was changed in this OVA of Phantasia, its a mess. but still very enjoyable. its fan service. but i favor eternia over the others because it did something different

@Vercsase Eternia's anime was a stupid side joke anyway. It had virtually nothing to do with the main plot. True, it was very amusing, but it was also just mind-numbing. Farah was also uncharacteristically bitchy.

I found out about this game because im a huge ToS fan. Apparently ToS and ToP are related! For ex. Im pretty sure Sheena Fujibayashi in the 4000 yeat long run is related to Suzu Fujibayashi. I watched the ToS anime and just now I started to play ToP on the emulator cause it seemed cool! Then I found out about this so here I am watching it. Though, According to some sites this isnt perfectly accurate.. Even still! (Im new to the game)

It's all about to saving Mana Seed/World Seed for Dhaos's people & preventing human from uses Magitech's weapon.. That's why Dhaos fight for.. Human race can survive without mana but Dhaos's people can't..
So dhaos is not a bad guy after all
