    Thanks this is excellent. One of the burners on my range has a small tab on the receptacle mounting bracket, and there is what looks like a ground wire attached to it. The new bracket has a larger tab that will not accept the ground wire connector. I was told the ground wire is redundant since the range is already grounded. True?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  Před 7 lety +2

      It is always best to reattach the ground wires. If the manufacturer made a change on the terminal size you may have to cut the old wire connector off and put a larger one on.

    You don't have to put the heat shrink sleeve over a wire before connecting wires with the wire nut. You can put the sleeve over the wire nut, with the tip of the nut sticking out. This will look better.

    I've looked all over the place for those 'clips' that go on the drip pans (aka: drip bowls) to hold the element in the drip pan's notch. Tried to buy drip pans (via Amazon) with those clips but was lied to and ended up with drip pans without the clips.
    If the only way I can get those clips is to buy drip pans that have them, I will.
    Any help you can offer to point me in the right direction will be appreciated.

I followed your video and did the wiring just the way you showed, but my burner is still not working. :( before i knew the receptacle was bad i turned the burner on and sparks flew out of it. could it be a fuse or do they not make fuses in them anymore?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  Před 9 lety

      Kel Suth If it was so bad it was arcing you need to make sure the ends of the element are still good. A few things to look at are to make sure the circuit breakers did not kick off. Some older stoves did have fuses, check the wiring diagram. When ever you short something like that you have to test everything to find out why you are loosing power, bad wiring, bad burner switch, bad terminal block etc. You can post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot.

    My GE range (JBS26OV3AD) has ceramic insulators over the end of the burners. The support of one 8' burner has come apart. Two ?'s.
    1. Can I order the support alone?
    2. If not, and I order a burner, will I be able to install the ends of a plug in burner inside the ceramic insulators? (The part picture does not give a good pic of the burner ends for WB30K 10003 and I don't see any burners for order that don't plug in.) Or would ordering the recepticale too be the right thing to do?

    But what if none of them are working ?... I'm not sure what I did this morning but I definitely screwed up .. I went to reheat a cup of tea and wasn't paying attention and was washing the dishes when I heard it boiling over.
    When my hand went over the pot of boiling froth to turn it off I saw a BIG SPARK and heard a loud POP SOUND ... somehow I think the ring on my hand caused this problem and after I cleaned out the liquid from under the drip pan areas and waited a few minutes I expected to be able to make a fresh cup of tea but none of them.. none of the coils are working.
    I did not always use all the burners anyway because two of them seemed kind of sluggish so I went to the fuse box and it's confusing because I don't know the terminology but I was able to push two of the little black square leavers to the on position but in between them is a weird looking thing that has a ring in it ...I don't know how else to describe it ..I don't know what that part is called ; THAT REFUSES to go in the ON position .

      +jbalazer Thanks for the tip about the terminology!

    • @jbalazer
      @jbalazer Před 8 lety +1

      Depends which terminals you mean. An arc from hot to neutral is a short circuit. An arc from the hot burner terminal to the hot terminal of the socket, or from the neutral burner terminal to the neutral terminal of the socket is not a short circuit. Even when these burner sockets have arcing, usually there is no short circuit, because the socket has an insulator separating the hot terminals from the neutral terminals.
