Thanks this is excellent. One of the burners on my range has a small tab on the receptacle mounting bracket, and there is what looks like a ground wire attached to it. The new bracket has a larger tab that will not accept the ground wire connector. I was told the ground wire is redundant since the range is already grounded. True?
It is always best to reattach the ground wires. If the manufacturer made a change on the terminal size you may have to cut the old wire connector off and put a larger one on.
Thanks, I followed your suggestion.
Happy to help!
Sarge true, actually I bought everything from that web site and did the same installation but after that when I turn the lights on in my kitchen the lights are flashing like every 3 minutes.
And I didn't touch anything else just replaced the new receptacles that was it.
Thank you! This has been the best illustration of all that I have viewed.
Awesome!!! Thank you Matt, I didn't even know I could lift the top open😆 Now my range works again. Thanks!
Excellent tutorial, step by step. Just did mine, and worked well. Thanks
Excellent succinct, clear video. It was exactly what I needed to sort out a couple of questions as I was about to do the repairs myself. I'll definitely be looking to you guys for parts in the future, too. Thanks.
+Matthew Jacobs Thanks, glad the video helped you out!
really great vid great explanation now i know why my stove top won't get hot tested the element on other side & it works so i knew it was the receptical
Still the best video on the kit work.
Thanks! You just saved me hundreds of dollars from having to hire a contractor!
100% thumbs up just for the hair alone!!
Exactly what I needed. Thanks for the great video!
Gracias por su información. El video es excelente!!! Muy sencilla su explicación para sustituir los anteriores receptáculos.
Felicitaciones.
De nada. ¡Estamos contentos de poder ayudar!
Thank you. Saved me a bunch
You are very welcome!
Thank You So Much for having this video!
$$$ saved
So helpful, thank you! I wish I would have done this before buying a new element.
jozzi1 Glad the video helped get the stove fixed!
AWESOME! This was very helpful! :D Thanks a lot!
Excellent video. I’ll call you guys tomorrow for parts.
Thanks! We're here 7 am - midnight EST, 7 days a week!
If you order online, they may have the same parts under different stove model numbers, but it's a universal kit, so I'm just buying the cheapest one. I'm soldering and butt splicing mine instead of using a cap splice. And I use a heat gun instead of a lighter, but hey, it works.
If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
Thanks for the instructions!
Ether You are welcome, glad the video helped you get the stove fixed!
Muy útil en informativo, muchas gracias ✌🏻
exelente brother gracias desde venezuela
So helpful, thanks!
Thank you a lot!!!!!!!!!! God bless you
You save my day!!! Thank you 🙏🏻.
Thanks worked perfectly 💪💪💪💪
You'r welcome! Glad we could help.
Easy step by step instructions
I think the video lays it out pretty simply.
good video man
Great Video !
Glad we could help!
You don't have to put the heat shrink sleeve over a wire before connecting wires with the wire nut. You can put the sleeve over the wire nut, with the tip of the nut sticking out. This will look better.
I've looked all over the place for those 'clips' that go on the drip pans (aka: drip bowls) to hold the element in the drip pan's notch. Tried to buy drip pans (via Amazon) with those clips but was lied to and ended up with drip pans without the clips.
If the only way I can get those clips is to buy drip pans that have them, I will.
Any help you can offer to point me in the right direction will be appreciated.
Thank you..
would this repair be necessary if there is a surge to one element? My mom’s stove had one element that surges for no reason when it is set to medium
Hello I just changed this receptacle- as the video showed- Greatvideo by the way-- but the coil is Still not heating up- and I checked other coils in this burner port- and they also do not heat up in this slot-- yet they work in the other spots, etc etc-- I guess this problem is bigger than I can handle- and I should get professional help??
It could be the switch, the terminal block, or the wiring based on what you've told me. It's up to you whether you're comfortable trying to try to make the repair. We do offer free technical advice and diagnosis, so if you want to get in touch with us, we'll get some additional info from you and help you figure out which part is causing the problem. The problem we were experiencing was a little different. The burner would stop working while we were cooking. This was so frustrating. We needed to replace the whole socket that was simply old and worn out. That was also a very simple process.
Glad the video helped you out!
The whole socket? What exactly do you mean?
Did you mean you did exactly what this video did and change the receptacle? Or did you change the actual outlet that the stove plugs into?
Is there fuses inside the stove ? I’m not getting voltage to one of the connectors to the heater grid peace.... I can tell I need a new plug it’s melted
Are the tips of the heating element matching this receptacle the "Sixers"??
I followed the instructions exactly and when I put my burner in it's prongs push the elements out of the plastic bracket. I have double triple and quadruple checked that I have the right parts for my stove and everywhere says I do but they are just not connecting do you have a tip?
Im hoping you will reply.
Ive done exactly how you demonstrated, and my receptacles didnt last. I bought new ones from whirlpool this time n it did the same. My jennair downdraft is old, n i love it. Where can i get long wires to replace the old ones that go all the way to the plug in receptacles?
What is your model number?
Thank very much !
You are welcome, glad the video helped!
Would you require to change the receptacle kit of the indicator light for the issue of red light burner indicator light not turning off? stays lit, no heat. the heat works when you turn it on.
The indicator light contact is usually inside the switch. If it is stuck, you may have to replace the switch.
How do you release the wires from the old ceramic block?
Thanks from an unhandy man. Followed the video for replacement and everything seems fine. Now If I can just get a like from my bride?
Great video. I followed the instruction but I still have a problem. The heating element is still not coming on. What to do?
Em See Rashenel You can check the terminal block that the element plugs into, if the contacts are corroded you may not be getting power to the element. If they look good then check the wiring back to the switch and the switch itself.
AppliancePartsPros Alright. Thank you.
What about when the heat element stay on high (become red), even when in a low setting say 5? Does that mean just the element is bad or does the receptacle block may need changing?
A quick response will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

I'm having trouble finding the model number on mine
Nice!
hi i have another question and you've been so helpful i'm hoping you could give me an idea. I followed your video and did the wiring just the way you showed, but my burner is still not working. :( before i knew the receptacle was bad i turned the burner on and sparks flew out of it. could it be a fuse or do they not make fuses in them anymore?
Kel Suth If it was so bad it was arcing you need to make sure the ends of the element are still good. A few things to look at are to make sure the circuit breakers did not kick off. Some older stoves did have fuses, check the wiring diagram. When ever you short something like that you have to test everything to find out why you are loosing power, bad wiring, bad burner switch, bad terminal block etc. You can post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot.
AppliancePartsPros
My GE range (JBS26OV3AD) has ceramic insulators over the end of the burners. The support of one 8' burner has come apart. Two ?'s.
1. Can I order the support alone?
2. If not, and I order a burner, will I be able to install the ends of a plug in burner inside the ceramic insulators? (The part picture does not give a good pic of the burner ends for WB30K 10003 and I don't see any burners for order that don't plug in.) Or would ordering the recepticale too be the right thing to do?
Thanks
The support is not sold separate. Assuming there is nothing wrong with the receptacle you should be able to swap out the element.
is there anyway to remove the plastic terminal blocks from my old stove burners and reuse them on the other one i have? All the wires on the other one look ok and i don't want to have to cut them if i could just switch the plastic parts
Kel Suth Depends on the style, the terminals can be taken out, there is a small retainer clip in the block. But not all blocks can be interchanged like that, they have to be exactly the same.
Ok I will look for a retainer clip and give it a try thank you
I can do this now 😀
Thanks
Great Video. I have two burners that have stopped working. Do you find that the problem is usually the receptacle, or could it be a bad coil grill? How do I know for sure?
Larry Hawk
Didn't they ever answer you ?... I'm interested in knowing what they have to say
But what if none of them are working ?... I'm not sure what I did this morning but I definitely screwed up .. I went to reheat a cup of tea and wasn't paying attention and was washing the dishes when I heard it boiling over.
When my hand went over the pot of boiling froth to turn it off I saw a BIG SPARK and heard a loud POP SOUND ... somehow I think the ring on my hand caused this problem and after I cleaned out the liquid from under the drip pan areas and waited a few minutes I expected to be able to make a fresh cup of tea but none of them.. none of the coils are working.
I did not always use all the burners anyway because two of them seemed kind of sluggish so I went to the fuse box and it's confusing because I don't know the terminology but I was able to push two of the little black square leavers to the on position but in between them is a weird looking thing that has a ring in it ...I don't know how else to describe it ..I don't know what that part is called ; THAT REFUSES to go in the ON position .
This is very depressing for me as I'm struggling financially right now and I don't have that volt meter .
It definitely sounds like something shorted out, but if none of them are working, the elements probably aren't the problem. We'll be happy to help you figure out what may have happened, as we offer free technical advice and diagnosis. You can give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/. We'll get some more information from you, like whether the clock is still working, to determine exactly which part you may need to replace. We will need your model number so that we can look up schematics to give you accurate advice. You can look here on our website to help you find the model number: www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx If you do end up needing the multimeter to test parts, you can get them from local hardware stores for $20 or less, typically. One of our agents will be happy to talk you through it all.
Is the receptacle a one kind fits all so to speak? I have a stove from the 70s.
This type is some what universal and has been used for a long time. I would give us a call with the model number of the range so we can check and see! 1-877-477-7278.
Will this help.. my 1 plate is very fast but it's on 1. Please help
What if the shrink wrap doesn't come with the replacing package. Is it all right to leave it without out?
Shrink wrap is best if you can get it. If you do not have any make sure you wrap it in some electrical tape, to help prevent any liquid from spills getting in the connections.
@@appliancepartspros Should it be heat resistant electrical tape, or will "normal" electrical tape do?
Is that a ceramic wire nut?
Thank you!😃
You are welcome!
@@appliancepartspros We got the parts and followed the instructions but we couldn't fix it. It seems to be an older model of Roper. Don't know if you can help us. We worked on it for a long time. Maybe we ordered the wrong parts?
What is your model number of the stove?
@@appliancepartspros The only number I could find was this: 8522383. It has the trademark of ESP before it. All of the terminal blocks only have two wires coming out of each one. Can you help?
@@appliancepartspros I responded to your question about the model number. Can you help?
Lowkey, this guy's hair is awesome
"Shorting out" is a different problem, and not the most likely problem that would require a replacement receptacle. What you mean to say is that there's a bad connection, not a short.
+jbalazer Thanks for the tip about the terminology!
Depends which terminals you mean. An arc from hot to neutral is a short circuit. An arc from the hot burner terminal to the hot terminal of the socket, or from the neutral burner terminal to the neutral terminal of the socket is not a short circuit. Even when these burner sockets have arcing, usually there is no short circuit, because the socket has an insulator separating the hot terminals from the neutral terminals.
I bet we’re all fun at parties.

I think it's possible that this morning I shorted out my electric stove on the stovetop... I'm wondering if you have a moment to listen to what happened and give me some advice as I'm very disgusted here because I'm struggling financially.
I was trying to reheat a cup of tea and it boiled over I still don't understand what happened because when my hand went over the boiling froth to turn it off... somehow I think my ring ignited a spark... there was this HUGE SPARK and a POP SOUND .
After I cleaned up the mess underneath the stove top I thought it would come back on but nothing's working and on the fuse box I was able to get two of the small black leavers in place but the one in between them refuses to go back to the on position.
Where can I buy the element bracket?

my stove over heating low number one level and heating like full high level any ideas why heating too high?
+sing pau It could be the control switch has failed and is on all the time, instead of cycling on and off to keep it at the low temp.

I did everything and it still didn’t come on so I’m gonna check the switch I guess🤷♀️
Yeah I did this and it didn't work :( I didn't use nuts I only used black wire tape
followed everything from video and there is still no power to burner.

Same here. 😑
Good video but a little too fast..
I replaced one eye today and now none of them work
everything was good except the jerry curl and the bic lighter.
Glad the video helped you get the stove fixed!
Is any way to follow the wire back instead of cutting it .
The new receptacle kit isn't long enough to be able to do that, so it will need to be cut.
The isle is still not coming on
Hook up stove burner
got my kit from Lowes. It cost like $4 more than u guys and the kit didn't even come with new screws.... so lame.
your video was great though thanks!!
I'll check out your website and please watch one of my videos
Next time don't wear gloves, they block the camera...
