LOVE Cape May! We live within two hours of this town, and spent our first ten wedding anniversaries (in December!) in Cape May, trying a different B&B every time. NEVER a complain! i even took my daughter there for a Mom & Daughter weekend when she turned 6 (in July) and we found some story hour type activities for kids. Really enjoyed every trip we've ever taken to Cape May, NJ.

You definitely need to go back. Cape May has so many fantastic spots both on and off the island. The Coast Guard Training Base is there and the Schooner at The Lobster House. Enjoy!

You should've walked the Historic Wildwood boardwalk. It's a site to behold, especially in season! It starts in North Wildwood and ends at the beginning of Wildwood Crest... over 2.5 miles each way! 🤗

You are now officially SHOOBIES! Historically, Philadelphians would travel to the shore for the day. They'd bring their lunch in a shoebox.
Now all tourists are Shoobies. Welcome to the club of many. 🙂

That was a nice glimpse of Cape May. I’m about 25 miles north of Cape May. We go down at Christmas time. There are home tours, old fashioned carolers, every store is open on Washington Ave. It’s really beautiful. Enjoy Philly.

We just spent 3 weeks in Maine and loved lobster rolls but we never found one for less than $20. We learned (after 2 and a half weeks) that the local grocery store sold live lobster for $7.99 a pound and they would cook it for you for that price. Our first purchase was 3 lobsters which provided enough meat for 2 lobster meals and 4 lobster rolls. We then went back and bought 6 more that we broke down are now in our freezer. Love lobster.

Just noting that the first thing you did on your way to Cape May was to actually take "Exit 0", which puts you on Rt. 9 towards North Cape May, the ferry, and other points north and west, but not Cape May. Clearly you figured that out because you made it into town. "Exit 0" has become an affectionate and unofficial term for Cape May, though it isn't really exit 0.

Another great video! My wife and I love watching yall. Aaron looks like our oldest son Joseph whose middle name is Aaron and coincidentally they both have very similar personalities (plain spoken, down to earth, thoughtful, logical, and caring). So obviously we love watching Aaron. As much as we like Aaron, we both love Chris. My wife thinks you are beautiful (I do too) and just have the best personality. Chris just comes off as someone you want to know and be around.
P.s. we have shared our toothbrush several times when one of us forgot to pack one. 😊

We go down to Cape May twice a year from Northern N.J. We just booked 4 nights for first week in Oct right where you filmed most of this video. We just love it here and it's a great get away from the congested north. The summer crowds are gone but most of the restaurants and shops are sill open when we go there. Prices, as everywhere else have gone sky high so it's not cheap anymore. FYI there's a great pet store in the little mall that is offset from the main Jackson St. walking mall, right where the horse drawn carriage stop is. Its in the back so you have to look hard but they've got amazing things for pets (mostly dogs). We go to the zoo, along Delaware Bay to surf fish, down to Diamond Beach, and a myriad of other things to do to pass the time. There's even a great military showcase at the Cape May Airport with lots of equipment from WWII and Vietnam. Well worth the visit.

That ship is now on it's last legs thanks to many storms in recent years. Barely anything higher than 10' sticking out of the water now and only about 20' long. It will probably be gone by 2030 but a great relic from WWII's ingenuity.

  • @steventoby3768
    @steventoby3768 Před měsícem +1

At first I felt foolish for watching videos from places I'd actually been in person -- I thought it was old age nostalgia. Well it might be some of that but this video was all the more fun because a lot of it was familiar. I remember that pedestrian mall perfectly, and the clock on a green pedestal caught my eye in person before I saw it in the video. I agree with the other person who wrote that NJ doesn't have a lobster fishery locally, so it tastes better further north. While I won't try to phonetically spell out the Maine accent, it's also well known that "you can't get a decent clam chowder south of New Haven." Or Boston, or several other places in New England depending on the prejudices of whoever is saying it. But Cape May has lots of good restaurants as well as the historic inns, often magnificently restored, where you can stay, although they are rather pricey so I preferred just a few days at a time. Of course that's not applicable for RVers.

    I just discovered you channel.
Enjoyed your exploring familiar areas. Like the Bay Bridge Tunnel
Lobster Roll prices are only doing to go up. Wait till you get to Maine - they are great but pricey. Best place I found for Lobster rolls is from the General Store going out to Ocean Beach beyond Boothbay Harbor. If you get there enjoy. Interesting as many times as I have gone to Cape May, I have never thought about getting a Lobster Roll.

Buy a pet stroller, you can take dogs anywhere as long as they are in a stroller.

You missed so many other sites in and around Cape May. After hanging out in and around the Cape May area for the last 45+ years I can tell you in a day you only see 5% of the interesting sites and landmarks in and around the town. Next visit hit the marina district, the Lobster House, the point, see the concrete ship before it is gone, stop by and walk sunset beach, t(e Coast Guard station is there and you can sign up for a tour of that, run over to the Cape May Lewis Ferry, many historic buildings in town. I could go on and on since my one sister has lived down there for over @38 years over in West Cape May and my other sister has owned a condo at the north end of the city for about 255 years. So many cool things that would take a few weeks to see and experience.
    Maybe next trip…….
if you get up to Philly make sure to stop at Valley Forge and swing by the King of Prussia shopping complex. Campgrounds are not to easy to find around the city but French Creek State park does have sights.

I’ve gone to the Jersey shore my whole life. I live outside of Philadelphia. Been to Cape May several times. In fact, I’m attending a wedding there in September. I will say I never heard the word Promenade pronounced that way. We’ve always pronounced as Proma-nod and not Proma-nade. Now, I’m questioning my whole life at 60 years of age. I need to investigate this further. That said, your dogs are very cute. Keep up the good work BTW! Full confession. I never slept in a camper and/or mobile home.

I think you would have to see the beaches in the summer to understand the no dog policy. Our population explodes. There can be thousands of people stretched down the beach. I don’t think the locals even give it much thought as they are unlikely to want to navigate a bunch of tourists on the beach with their dogs. The only mention of the policy is usually by visitors. Our beach for example only limits it during certain hours and only during the summer. I have no issue with it. Everyone’s dog is well behaved, until it’s not. Same as their kids. 😅

I live in North cape may. I hate the policy. I feel like my dog is banned from beach walks half of the year. Can only take her there after 4pm.

    Hello happy travelers.
New Jersey isn't really a place where lobster is harvested. The lobster salad is like making shrimp salad with mayonnaise, chopped onion, celery dill seed and sometime a little fennel seed.. Sort of like imitation crab salad.except with lobster.
In defense of the clam chowder, the first chowder of the day is usually on the thin side. The longer it cooks down, the thicker it gets. As for being skimpy on potato and clam, that's on the restaurant. I toss oyster crackers into most soups, as I don't add salt to anything and the salt from the crackers satisfies my craving for salt.
You might wish to add booties to the dress for the dogs. Walking on blacktop gets warm on the paws. We've all had those days where you forget more than you remember to bring..
