On a Wrestle Me binge. Someone save me
Sounds like you’ve already been saved, buddy.
Get out your prayerbook buddy. I know how you feel
You don’t need saved you a made it to the promised land!
Welcome to the cult fellow believer
You’ve already died and gone to heaven my bro
Obligatory comment for the best channel that cures depression in anyone. Humour is ever reaching
Great editing work and production quality
Thank you!
Steiner Bros entrance music should have been "America F**k Yeah"😂
Wrestle me gives me the content that OSW review forgot about.
Damn, Muta as the Black Scorpion would have been awesome. He worked great with Sting.
Indeed
Such a relief to know it was only the children’s crutches and gruel bowls that burnt down in the storage fire and NOT you special edition “Marty Jannetty with Not Daughter” wrestling figures! 😂
I used to have a girlfriend that started watching wrestling in 1999. I showed her Scott Steiner from this era, and she refused to believe it was the same person. It took me a few weeks to convince her it was indeed Big Poppa Pump. lol
If they used this concept about 4 years earlier, they may have had something. WCW/NWA had probably the best tag division ever in the mid to late 80s. Arn & Tully, The Midnight Express, The rock n roll Express, The russians, the freebirds, The road Warriors, the fantastics, the sheepherders etc. If you had the Steiner brothers beating all those teams in a tournament setting with maybe a few foreign teams thrown in to give it a global feel, that would have been epic.
The Steiners weren't around in '86 but that was basically the Crockett Cup--24 teams, many from outside territories including one from Japan (Giant Baba & Tiger Mask/Misawa in the 1st, Baba & Isao Takagi in the 2nd).
Masa Saito had a interesting life. Olympic wrestler to prisoner to potential torch bearer for the Tokyo Olympics.
Respect to Masa Saito and Great Muta. Muta was a favorite.
Saito helped Patera fight cops over McDonald's, he's an American at heart LOL
As an American, it's interesting to hear an international take on these classic WCW cards that I loved watching in my teens and early 20's. One thing in regards to Jim Ross...as Bill Watts number 1 commentator Jim pushed real athletes because that's what the Cowboy liked Jim Duggan, Rick Steiner, Dr. Death, JYD, Butch Reed...all top level college and/or pro athletes. Also in 1988/89/90/91 the University of Michigan football and basketball programs were among the most televised programs in the US as they won championships in both sports during that era.
Wrestle Me is like a very abridged version of OSW.
Honestly, I know that they're terrifying, they're bullies and they were pretty unprofessional, but holy shit the Steiner Brothers were so fucking fun to watch and I still say that Big Poppa Pump era Steiner is one of the most entertaining wrestlers ever because I think he was just legitimately out of control. If we got Steiner Brothers era Scott's ring ability with the promo ability of Big Poppa Pump, he'd be the absolute perfect wrestler.
141 2/3% truth!
An entire PPV of Steiners taking liberties on jobbers? Oh I have to check this out!
Masa Saito and Muta are not jobbers.
You slaging on the ref reminded me of 1 of my favorite boby henen lines " you know the referees insurance doesn't cover vision. "
First time I ever saw Big Poppa Pump hit the traditional Frankensteiner (and not one off the top rope) my head exploded.
Still remember them tossing Big Cat around like he was 60 lbs effortlessly. Even if kayfabe it takes tremendous strength to do thise feats. By the by, their mum was shown in a dated pic and she had muscles! The magazine was attributing the Steiners great strength to good genes there.
I knew Rocco Rock was The Cheetah Kid but never knew this South American gimmick was him ! And watched this show live on PPV not to mention watching it on tape over and over lol !
I didn't know Rocco Rock was Ted Petty. Always was confused when IWA-MS ran the Ted Petty Invitational.
Teddy was my father's friend. Middlesex, NJ stand up
My friend Ian was a WWF fan at the time and I remember him having that edition of the magazine where Sarge wants his country back
A little dose of Wrestle Me always brightens up my day.
@BanyaBat, I know getting paid for your sweet editing skills sure feels nice (at least I hope Marc and Pete do pay you well 😅) but can you please give us more of the Smershpod edits on your own channel.
Don't get me wrong, I also love to see the Steiners mutilate Jobbers as much as the next guy 💪
5:15 in-shaper Rocco rock … bizarro world
lol what happened to him eh...Talk about letting yourself go
So glad I've found this channel. Love it
I watched this card last year. Thought ...oooh this could be great.....oh what a fool I was
Was such a huge Steiner Bros mark.
90 scott steiner with the steiner screwdriver. such a awesome finisher.
His powerslam/moonsault hybrid was awesome as well. Only remember him doing it once or twice.
@@BostinBlackCountryVeggie he was like a custom wrestler with the maxed out stats to be able to do the all the most flashiest moves. i remember that one too. very awesome.
I wish he still had this level of athleticism when he became big poppa pump. That character with his younger moveset...
czcams.com/video/aL65G7XYV0E/video.htmlsi=F6xIDxIki5MMHpl1
Imagine his move set and athleticism, combined with the big poppa pump character.
czcams.com/video/aL65G7XYV0E/video.htmlsi=F6xIDxIki5MMHpl1
Jim Ross was always a mark for the amateurs. He did that a lot in WWE as well for any and every wrestler with some kind of collegiate background. The worst one was for Diesel. I remember he would always put over Nash's basket ball credentials despite Nash never having a successful run as a basket ball player. Nash said it best. "If anyone were to look up my stats, they'd see that I wasn't great" but this never stopped Jim Ross. I loved Ross's commentary but I always hated that about him. The WWE crowd never cared about those stats. Jerry Lawler also made fun of Ross for that during Kurt Angle's early run in WWE.
Sgt. Slaughter's military credentials are beyond reproach. G-I-JOOOOOOOE 🇺🇸
He fought bravely at the Battle of Cobrala!
@BrokenSaintRW Now you know...and knowing is half the battle!
Marc, our wrestling lives, viewing habits, video purchases, opinions etc seem to have run in exact parallel. Crazily similar
I may be off on my chronology, but this ppv took place during the early stages of the debate that ended in NAFTA which was very controversial in states that agriculture as a larger part of their economy. Hence the booing of both Canada and Mexico.
I dont blame Rick for not selling that dive. Not only would it make him look weak but it was clearly a major botch and if he sells it there goes whatever kayfabe there is.
I loved this event didn't have cable so had a bunch of visitors tapes of wrestling watched this one pro 30 times literally still love the Steiners n Sting Vs Black Scorpion was my favorite tape big part of my childhood
The Steiners were from Bay City, which is just shy of a 2-hour drive from Detroit. The same Bay City that the Bay City Rollers derived their name from (by randomly throwing a dart at a map). Also from Bay City? Butterbean and Madonna.
I knew about madonna, but Butterbean?
Always thought the bay city rollers were from S.F.? And Butterbean is from Alabama!
@@CoreyT127 Correction, he trained for Toughman in Bay City, but he did spend 7 years of his childhood in St. Johns, MI, before relocating to 'Bama. The Bay City Rollers were from Scotland; they wanted an American-sounding name for their band, and threw darts at a map of the U.S.
I was born and raised near Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
Heyman wasn't wrong.
That was an entertaining trip down memory lane! These guys better cover Danny Johnson and Troy Montour on the next chapter.
Lol damn I'm glad I found this channel. You should cover when the APA beat the he'll out of Public Enemy because they didn't want to go through the table.
Scott Steiner was so good-looking, so it's such a shame that he turned out how he has!!
Scott rocked different gear for every match
i had all these shows on VHS but they were 2 hours and obviously edited down... seeing this new flag stuff and more is great...
#Wrestleme you guys are by far the best wrestling channel on CZcams and the information you present is A-1 the jokes between you guys are hilarious keep it up!
When it comes to collegiate acumens, please keep in mind Derrick Rose actually attended Memphis for a year lol
Disco inferno on the keeping it 100 tryed talking shit about wrestle me and I had to speak up they can make fun of wrestles but said Chyna was a great wrestler and disco inferno didn't like that lmao makes no sense
Scott Steiner and Jim Harbaugh are friends dating back to their days at Michigan. They actually lived in the same off-campus house in Ann Arbor for a short time.
Pat O'Connor or O'Conner depending on the graphic. WCW is WCW. (Had this tape, loved it, didn't know better.)
Yes having a tournament to crown the Steiners the best team in the world was lame but THEY WERE
In 1990 there was no comparison between the U.S. south and south Africa. Cmon guys....
Scott Steiner's flipping samoan drop and steiner screwdriver are two of the all-time great maneuvers. He also invented the 450!
I know he did a backflip fallaway slam.
Didn't see a flip samoan drop.
The Steiner Screw was DEADLY!!
As far as finishers that just went a level up, ahead of them all, its Jake's DDT, LOD's Doomsday Device, and Scott's Steiner Screw.
Those finishers were just IT!!
I cannot imagine Scott hitting a 450. Nor what you'd feel like watching an athlete like him about to crash down on you with THAT MOVE from the top rope LOL
For some reason, I find myself watching you again. I wish I didn't, but I do
The Steiner Brothers were so strong, people who worked with them said that when the Steiners grabbed you, it was like being grabbed by some scary creature from another world.
They respected The Road Warriors though. R.I.P. and visa versa.
And they also didn't F w/ Ron DAMN Simmons.
That said, in the immortal words of 2 Cold Scorpio talking about Gerald Brisco, it applies to the Steiners as well :
*"Idk if they were shooters or hookers, BUT, if they hooked you, you're hooked.."*
Steiners were both the real-deal Holyfield
The Nasty Boys said they loved working with the Steiners for that reason because they did not have to do much because the Steiners did all the work throwing them around.
Which people said this 😂
@@rc4178no one 😂
Hence the Dog Face Gremlin!!!
Just discovered Wrestle Me great stuff.
Mr Saito is still pissed off that McDonald's was closed.🤣
When Heyman is suggesting Muta as the Black Scorpion that's probably him having a sly dig at WCW management for the man they chose.
Who would have thought. Hours on end of old fun
Rob Remus is playing a character named Sgt Slaughter , Like how Nash plays a wrestler
Scott Steiner had such an insane moveset and he cut easily the best promo of all time. One of my favorites
Scott Steiner didn't seem to get good at promos till after he became Big Poppa Pump - in his younger, less crazy seeming days his promos were pretty standard "big guy yelling threats" promos
@@TheLokiBiz yeah early on he was just a great wrassler. So innovative
The British team should have been Big Daddy and Tom Thumb - those two facing the Steiners would have been amazing!!
Can't help ya...I'm onna been binge too!!!!
Just remember Scott Steiner invented the 450 and the Frankensteiner
I'm glad, actually, that they had white women carrying the flags of other nations at the start, because it would have been extremely hurtful to a Mexican woman carrying the Mexican flag, Japanese woman carrying the Japanese flag, etc.), so no one is being rude to them with their booing.
Best part is Heyman pretending the cordless phone is a cell phone.
The music is brilliant! Who makes the music for this channel?
That is a dream 3 way with a young Missy Hyatt and Terri Runnels.
Konnan tagged with his mentor for the Mexico team.. he spoke specifically about this tournament and the steiner's on his podcast
Say University of Michigan one more time, I dare you.... I double f***in dare you!
I cant stop laughing and watching y'all videos
Watched that many of these videos i feel obliged to subscribe and get to watch full episodes 😂
Doink Brah-brah-brah klaxon
*audience interaction*
Kendo Nagasaki!
Trying to figure out what was happening on WCW worldwide using my Grandma's B&W 14" tv on a Saturday. As we lived in Kent I would have to tune into channel 5 Thames LWT and I really couldn't see much but it was the absolute best. I was so jealous of other kids at the time having Sky and the WWF but looking back I wouldn't change a thing. Scott Steiner is the greatest wrestler of all time.
I mean, Steiner DOES hate Canada (re: TNA announcing)
I love this channel!!
I love this channel
Paul Heyman is a Wrestling GENIUS... Financially, illiterate... ;)
All the best stuff comes from Japan.
My dad went to South Africa doing a deal for a Saudi Arabian oil company he worked for in the 80’s and said while having a drink on the hotel balcony he watched a white policeman shoot a black man for no apparent reason then commandeered 2 random black guys off the streets to bury the dead guy in a shallow grave. My dad said he had opinions on South Africa and Nelson Mandela but they all changed after going to the country
Rick Steiner has a GNVQ in clotheslines
I understood Saito at the end.
Mr. Saito AWA World Champion and 1/2 WWF Tag Team Champion on 2 occasions. Not everybody got to do that.
You know what's weird then seeing 90's Steiner Vs 2000's Steiner? Learning that post-wrestling Steiner is a Hardees Owner manager.
Totally agree with the Scott steiner crack😂
Ahh, yes, another Jim Herd blunder
What a slap on red rooster😂😂😂
I had the slaughter GI Joe
Kinda wild to see the whole Japanophobia of the 80s still lingering
I'm going to continue the echo of the chant from that night USA USA
You guys should do a history of edge and Christian since they are trending.
Scott Steiner was awesome in the 80's
Scott Steiner did more moves in 1 match than Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash had in their whole careers
So true
You obviously doesn't know wrestling
Yeah really. Wrestling isn't about moves, btw.@@user-cs1pi8zg1n
JRs no sell of Paul es limo stuff is brutal
The Soviet and South African flags are la bad flashback. That SA apartheid flag was God awful ugly, but they made great heels like you said
Slaughter served in Vietnam around same time as Ventura..lol
Number 1!
If everyone sold dives like Rick Steiner AEW would be watchable lol
I flunked out of the University of Michigan
It wasn’t just this tournament where Steiner Bros were wrestling stiff they always wrestled stiff
I think Ray Apolo was the 3rd Doink. Steve Keirn had already done the Doink skit w/ Matt Bourne at WM 9.
Unless I'm mistaken, I thought Keirn performed as Doink in the ring wrestling matches before Apolo
Actually 4th, Brooklyn Brawler played the role before Apollo was cast
So Matt Borne, Steve Keirn, and Brooklyn Brawler had all played the role in WWF before he did
Wrestle me should do a video about haku aka meng
The Wallstreet gimmick would work today. Just relabel it as wrestling sabremetrics.
Does anyone know what college or university the Steiners went to?
Rutgers
Mitchygan, as we say in Ireland
One meaningless game kills Ewers’ Longhorns time. But gotta pump up the nepo baby Arch Manning.
