  • See why most rowers are choosing RP3 Rowing for their workouts on land. RP3 provides an indoor rower (ergometer) which almost exactly simulates rowing.
    Dutch Karolien Florijn, silver medal in W4- in Tokyo 2021, World Champion W1x in 2022, European and World Champion W1x in 2023 shows how she uses RP3 and how it almost exactly matches her rowing movement.
    Real time interactive data with the RP3 app (monitor) provides the learning and feedback cycle, via RP3 Portal to do analysis and even become better.

    Her technique on the machine is slightly different to that in the boat. In the boat she connects, maintains body position against leg drive initially whereas on the machine she opens the body a little sooner. Watch at 0.25 speed.

    I was just curious how this compares to the concept two ergs -- how much does the fact that the flywheel isn't connected to the base effect the experience? Thanks!

      also see the short posted last week: czcams.com/users/shortsPD-g7OEDY1g about difference between static and dynamic ergometer.
      Rowing in a boat is actually NOT moving up and down, like you do on a static erg. Rowing is getting the boat come and push the boat away again, with the rower at almost constant speed. So watching rowing is an optical illusion. Forces are different on a static erg. Rowing dynamic is being connected with the flywheel and the feet, like in the boat.

      @@justanunverifieduser2075 yep C2 on sliders does a pretty good job of being like the RP3....except when you keep hitting the front and back...and get really annoyed.

    Why is her back rounded? I thought that was a no no

      Who did tell you that? You could look at all the videos from World Rowing. Take the A-finals on the last few world championships. And count how many rowers do have back rounded.
      let me know 🙂

      From what i know it can be a bit dangerous, like deadlifting with a bent back, but in the boat it allows for a little more power by curling the back and straightening it during the drive. Most people don’t do it and probably shouldn’t do it unless they are at a higher level where every bit of power counts. That’s just a guess. I have only been rowing for a couple years.

      @@enderawesome4521I just think that the mobility to have a straight back when rocked over is quite hard and most rowers tend to have levers such that it is harder and so they just don't have the mobility and haven't learned as it isn't so important

    • @lovious-tt3ft
      @lovious-tt3ft Před 2 měsíci

      It is a no no, just some rowers often find that in that postition they can generate more power with less effort, although it is dangerous and you can get hurt

      Two times world champion and leader in world cup series. Favorite for gold in Paris.
      Perhaps there is the right momentum in the end of the stroke. Don't compare it with static indoor rowing, where there is often too much momentum in the stroke and you need to perform a sit up not to fall off.
