Hiking 100km Across Hong Kong's MacLehose Trail with Kraig Adams

- I just spent the last week hiking and camping on one of the longest trails in Hong Kong, the MacLehose trail with my friend Kraig Adams who is an amazing filmmaker here on CZcams. We hiked the Full Maclehose Trail Stage 1-10 which is a total of 100km, a little more than 60 miles, in about 4 and a half days.
Full disclosure a lot of this footage that I used was Kraig’s as we shared footage at the end of the hike. If it looks amazing, chances are it is his.

I was originally supposed to hike with him on his Picos de Europa hike but a running injury the week prior forced be to call it off. Luckily we were able to meet back up again a few months later and we were able to complete this trail successfully.

If you have questions about the Maclehose trail, I’ll be more than happy to answer them, but Kraig usually does a great job with a comprehensive guide to the trail and his video would be a great resource for more detailed info.
I did learn a lot about the simplicity of how he shoots, which I guess goes along with his approach to minimalist filmmaking, which I did start to implement a lot of as the hike went on. I will be posting a video talking about his camera/gear settings and some of the techniques he is currently using in early 2020. If you are interested in this like I was, be sure and subscribe and I will try to be as detailed as possible in my video including how and where to find and change the settings in your camera, I will be showing the settings on a Sony A73.
This was a great time and I am looking forward to getting out and doing more adventures out there like this.

Let me know of some lesser-known multi-day trails that I should look into, fewer crowds are good, although I may make an exception if the food is on point.

Could I bend your ear slightly? (an English term for enquiry) Hammocks, is there scope for hammocks along the trail or would you suggest a tent for overnight stops? Thanks in advance.

Awesome videos guys! I'm going to hike the MacLehose trail next week. Any advice on charging batteries for drones/cameras etc.
One battery a day for a each the drone and camera, and carry enough for the 4-5 days. Enjoy the hike.

awesome stuff man, but I would say the 26 minutes clip actually failed to show a lot of beautiful scene along the trail, but at the same time I understand how difficult it is to capture footage everywhere when you have to reach the camp sites on schedule and weather seems to be very foggy on sections of stage 3 and 4.
I think we definitely missed a few of the views because of the weather. Unfortunately it was quite overcast and foggy during some of what I suspect were the prettier viewpoints. I look forward to going back and doing the Lantau trail. That’s been on my list for a bit!

David Tang I’m definitely hoping to at some time in the future, I seem to find my self drawn to that part of the world over and over again and would love to try that trail.
