  • The latest firmware of the TYT MD-2017 allows you to import up to 100,000 contacts into the radio. This video shows you how to obtain a CSV file from DMR-MARC, format it correctly, upload it to the MD-2017 and enable the radio to use the list.

    The first clear explanation of how to do this that I have seen. I have been trying for days to use the TYT 1.21 with 100,000 and cannot figure how to get the .csv out of their download. Thank you so much. WB2BBS

    Very helpful - Great training video. Followed your directions and it worked fine.

    Do you load your code plug after this setup for all the other settings you had before?

      The loading of the CSV and maintenance of the codeplug are completely separate. Changing one doesn't change the other (unless you switch between the CSV and REC firmware).

    Is that DMR database dump every single person who is registered? Sorry for the noob question, DMR is still new to me. Thanks!

      Everybody is a noob when they start. :) Yes, the link I clicked downloads a .csv file that contains every Radio ID DMR-MARC has issued to that point. At the time of this comment, the .csv contains 67,499 entries.

    I have excel v2003 and it will not load past 65536 rows. I have done everything you showed here and it loads into the Radio okay,but only 65536 and it cuts off the rest of the file. Is there a way around this besides having the newest version of excel? Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated because I have searched high and low and can not find an answer. Thanks again.

      Unfortunately, no. This is a hard limit in Excel 2003, and I know of no way around it. The next version, Excel 2007, goes past 1,000,000 rows. For the money, my suggestion would be to look into a personal subscription to Office 365.

      Amateur Radio DMR Programming. I finally got office pro 2016 plus for 49 dollars. Full version and it is legit too. Soon as I installed that everything worked great. Also Ty has released a program that doesn’t need excel any more to install the full user database.

    I got to the 4:19 mark, Import .csv file and i get a "excel error!" message...... using open office and I checked the column format and its good. Does it have to be EXCEL ?

    • @AmateurRadioDMRProgramming
      @AmateurRadioDMRProgramming  Před 6 lety

      Yes, as far as I know. Apparently the software uses Excel APIs or whatnot to do the operation, even though the file format is .csv. Lots of different CPSs do this to sidestep having to write that part of the import code from scratch, apparently.

    Looks like DMR MARC has changed the download file. No longer have to change from cgi to csv, and you have to manually enter header information. When I try to do an import using CPS 1.17, I get the error message "The OS is not presently configured to run this application." A few minutes later "Excel Fail" appears. I have MS Excel 2010 installed. It works fine when importing and exporting contacts, etc using 1.17, and I can export the blank contacts form without problems.

    I tried all that and when i go to import the file it tells me that member not found. not sure what that means?

    • @AmateurRadioDMRProgramming
      @AmateurRadioDMRProgramming  Před 6 lety

      With each new firmware release, there is the possibility that things will change. Do an export first so you can see which columns the radio is expecting. Also, be sure you are running the CSV firmware, not the REC firmware.

    I just want to make a note that for me, only name brand MS Excel on Windows worked. Open Office, Google Sheets and even MS Excel on Mac didn't work. I tried all three step by step from the video and CPS 2017 only read the file produced by MS Excel (the Office 365 flavor) on a Windows machine.

      That's unfortunate. I'd have liked to have seen the CPS be able to pull in ANY .csv file, regardless of what was used to edit it. I never notice these things because I always have Excel on my laptop. Thanks for the note.

    Check out www.amateurradio.digital. They have csv file created for specific radios. Makes things MUCH easier!

      Note to viewers: I have looked at the site and it seems pretty cool, but I have NOT tested the Digital Contacts Wizard, so I can't personally attest to its functionality.

    "Excel fail!" instead of "Import succ!". Don't works anyway.....

      Do you have Microsoft Excel installed on your computer?

    • @foxtube1882
      @foxtube1882 Před 6 lety

      Yes, I have original Microsoft Excel 2016 as full version (from MS Office 2016). It doesn't work!

    • @AmateurRadioDMRProgramming
      @AmateurRadioDMRProgramming  Před 6 lety

      Unfortunately that's not something I can help you with. You'd need to work with the seller or the manufacturer to determine the cause. The only other thing I can suggest is to make sure you're using the firmware with CSV in the file name, and not the firmware with the REC in the file name, as well as the latest version of the CPS software.

      Newest CSV-fw, newest CPS. Don't work anyway. I wrote tyt888 and they sended me same fw and CPS I already have, I installed this just for fun, and - of course - still don't works. I ordered now a MD-390, this works with tyt-toolz.

    • @AmateurRadioDMRProgramming
      @AmateurRadioDMRProgramming  Před 6 lety

      Sorry you couldn't get this working. I also have the MD-390 with the experimental firmware. Decent radio. The appeal of the 2017 was always the dual-band feature. No terribly useful where I live (most repeaters here are UHF), but I know plenty of Hams in areas where both are abundant that the 2017 is very attractive. I'm looking forward to more viable options coming to the market.
