@ClaudiaLopez-vt5jz I have listened to EVERY Ring version you can think of. From Knappertsbusch and Solti to Karajan, Thielleman, and Barenboim. I know the Ring like the palm of my hand. And I stand by what I said "This is the BEST Ring Cycle EVER".
Jessye Norman is a spellbound Sieglinde! Hildegard Behrenz sounds like a lyrical soprano. James Morris is a bit strained here. What a sumptuous production! The conducting is great, poor Maestro Levine, here in the height of his glory...And such glorious music to a tale of cruelty and violence...
Why is this orchestra unable to bring a good Wagner sound? ?? Levine or the sometimes thin voices? The valkyries for example, Tomlinson gave a good farewell!
The other video posted by this account is Acts 1 and 2 of Die Walkure, and is called "Die Walkure II" just like this one. I'm guessing the "II" is meant to indicate that it is the second cycle. Was confusing to me as well, and I agree its misleading.
I am not a fan of Levine, and this is not in relation to the accusations. Leinsdorf, Solti, Furtwangler, Karajan and Knappertsbusch leave Levine miles behind in imagination, musical imagery and powerful emotional impact. I can feel when an orchestra starts to slack off and play lazy, and the met here is guilty of that by the truck loads. bums

Best Act III of Walküre ever. James Morris is for me the best Wotan, his voice is absolute perfection.
