  • Guro Ferd Terado is one of the featured instructors on our Video Montage Project. His group, PTK_SMF, is based in Foster City, CA.
    Brief Summary:
    Pekiti-Tirsia Kali/PTK-SMF™System
PTK-SMF Peninsula is the Professional Affiliate training group based in Foster City, CA and is licensed to teach the close-quarter combat system of Pekiti-Tirsia Kali [PTK-SMF] in the San Francisco Bay. The group is founded and led by Guro Ferd Terado, a direct student of Tuhon Tim Waid.
Pekiti-Tirsia Kali is the Family combat system of the Tortal clan from Panay, Philippines. It is a proven system of Combat Strategy and Tactics that employs all edged and impact weapons, empty-hands combat, integrates seamlessly with the use of modern firearms. The PTK-SMF™ standard is the use and mastery of the Live Blade with the proper range, timing, intent and energy of dynamic, continuous Offensive and Counter-Offensive Attacks. "SMF" stands for the latin phrase Saevio Militaris Faber, which means "To Rage violently in a precise Military method with Master skill;" it is both Tuhon Tim Waid's personal brand and a reflection of our training methodology.
Today, Pekiti-Tirsia Kali is trained and executed in combat and survival by military operators, law enforcement officers, and citizens across the free world. Pekiti-Tirsia Kali is the official close-quarter combat system of the Philippine Marine Corps and is the only Filipino Martial Arts system recognized as official war-fighting doctrine by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Angles are very important in Filipino Martial Arts, I totally agree. I would also like to learn more on how to generate powerful blows using body mechanics.

I agree! There are empty hand techniques in Eskrima, but I rather have something that actually focuses on it like Panuntukan. Unfortunately, it's really hard to find that around my area.
