Another Drew "Bob Ross" Brown video. Please, please keep making these because I could watch them all day. They're almost as relaxing as getting out my pen collection and journaling with it.
Speaking of which, it was fun to see some of your pairings and I'm really excited to see that I'm not the only one that will occasionally put in a contrasting color instead of a matching color. My current favorite ink/pen pairings are:
-TWSBI Diamond 580 ALR Nickel with Diamine Marine. That's just a pretty combo!
-TWSBI Eco Persian Green with Emerald of Chivor. The green accented demonstrator is perfect for this perfect ink.
-Lamy Al-Star Aquatic with Kon-Peki. The blues are strong with this combo!
-Pilot Explorer Red with Wearingeul Captain Hook. My red pen found its red ink.
-Nahvalur Nautilus with Wearingeul 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Because, you know, you have to match those two up!

I like to use Diamine Marine in my TWSBI mini AL Mint Blue. If I’m feeling the need for shimmer, I reach for Diamine Spearmint Diva.
This is a terrible, horrible, very good, excellent channel that reignites my enthusiasm for fountain pens, inks etc. At one time I had over 100+ pens from limited editions to simply just for fun pens. Being 80 I turned them over to my son to sell. I kept about four, my first purchase: Elysee Towards the Sun, a Platinum brown striped and a couple of others. Now this channel keeps appearing in my CZcams fed. What a delight. Someone out there is enjoying my past collection and my "new" one to be will be much smaller. But the joy is the same.
So true!! A pity so many purchases here in EU are easier than from this wonderful company!

Oooh these are some great combinations, Drew! If you wanted to use inks with the names 'Teal' and 'Merlot' for your Pilot 74 combo, Diamine has those. They also have a blue called 'Cornflower', although I must say the Ajisai looks really nice in that BENU. Already hoping for a part 2 video 😄

I also have a purple and gold/yellow combo! I've got the Twisbi Diamond 580 ALR in Sunset Yellow paired with iroshizuku murasaki-shikibu with a 1.4mm stub and it's one of my favorite pens to pick up.
Glad to see someone give Diamine Prussian Blue a lot of love. My favorite ink and has been for a couple years.

Because of this video, I took some Yama-Budo I had in a sample vial, splashed a little Wearingeul Silver Shoes glitter potion in, and loaded up my BlackPurple Lamy Safari with a Broad. It looks AMAZING!

Love the teal and merlot combination. I have two fender stratocasters, one in Aubergine and another in Lake Placid Blue. Always loved the look of those two guitars together and as soon as those pilots came on screen I pictured my strats.

This is the most relaxing video! It’s nice to see a mixture of inks that match the pen, and inks that complement the pen.
My current favourite pen and ink combo is my Kaweco Perkeo in Breezy Teal paired with Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku. It makes me so happy every time I write with it!

When I was doing practice exercises in the lead-up to my finals, I eye-droppered my Benu Earl Grey Tea with Dominant Industry Earl Grey Tea.
Something about that double-punch of caffeine helped me survive the hell that was revising!
Gorgeous pens and inks especially the 2 pilots and the Benus.

A personal favorite of mine is to pair my Diplomat Aero Stripes (with its pinstriped vibe) with Diamine Earl Grey.
Herbin Vert de Gris lives in my copper Ensso XS Minimalist.

My Benu Earl Grey is inked up with Diamine Chocolate Brown. A little predictable, but brown is my favorite color.
Great review with GORGEOUS pen-ink combinations. Truly lovely! It's so nice to go through all the reviews from Goulet Pens, and I for one am grateful that I never have to listen to someone there admiring their own French pronunciation of "Montblanc" every 25 seconds.
The Sailor Gold-Black combination is stunning.
Brown and blue is such a perfect color combination! (honorable mentions: brown and gold, brown and red)
02:35 - I've paired my Lamy AL-Star, also in dark-purple, with Lavender Purple from Montblanc. Also a very good match especially for that color IMO; Yamabudo is on my watch list though
The TWSBI Eco-T Eggplant with Colourverse Hyabusa (sp?) is the best combo of you want your purple combo to be PURPLE.
I also love pairing a teal ink with the Pro Gear slim northern lights purple because of the teal finials. Sailor Yomogi is a favourite.
I love the match with the Lamy Al-Star (colour Shiraz). I have found for me a match to Pilot E95s burgundy with De Atramentis Cherry Red.
I actually just bought the TWSBI Diamond 580 in Prussian Blue solely to match it with J. Herbin’s “Emerald of Chivor.” I couldn’t be happier…
Some of my favourite combinations are an S.T. Dupont in graphite guilloche with Wearingeul's Frankenstein, Diplomat Excellence A2 in skyline blue with Monteverde blue skies, Benu Euphoria earl grey with Private reserve american blue or DC supershow blue, Pilot 823 with J. Herbin bleu de Calanque, Lamy 2000 with Pilot Iroshizuku yama-budo, Graf von Faber-Castell Magnum with Lamy blackberry, and Platinum Procyon night sea with Platinum carbon black.

- Kaweco Al Sport Petrol with Ferris Wheel Press Peter Moss
On a more fun tangent - I’m enjoying my Kaweco AL Sport in Iguana Blue (Stub nib) with FWP Queen Alium
And my newest pen acquisition - Lamy Safari in Pink Cliff with Organic Studios Unicorn Blood (which was a sample vial I had from Goulet and I just fell in love with, only to discover it is no longer available 😔)
And after this video I now need to check out Alt-Goldgrün!
Oh, and I think the Lamy Dark Lilac 2024 I recently got is going to be a nice pairing with my TWSBI 580 in Iris!
I put Diamine Oxblood in my red Sailor Tuzu and it is dead on perfect.
I have the exact same lamy pen and also have purple ink in it!! I am just starting out with fountain pens, so thats one of the two I have.
Of course, I match my pen and ink. A good reason to buy a new fountain pen or bottle of ink. 😃
I’m waiting on my Twsbi eco crème / rose gold to be delivered today. Now I’m wishing I bought that Honey Bee ink…back to the website! 😲

Drew, I don't know how you can use those yellow and ultra blue inks!!! I can't see them well enough on the paper. But I wanted to say that I LOVE that you put contrasting inks in the Custom 74"s! Great idea! I generally match my ink color to my pen color. Otherwise, I have too many combinations to consider as I have probably 300 inks.l..maybe more! Too many choices' does make the decision more difficult. Very nice and calm video. Thank you.

I got my comedia inferno B yesterday 🎉 and I love it. I paired it with diamine writers blood 🩸. And I must say that when I hold my Poseidon and my inferno next to each other I’m struck with the beauty of them. These pens just belong next to each other. The fire looks more fire next to the Poseidon and the water looks more water next to the inferno. And I got my moon in an ink bottle sticker which makes a great addition to my small collection of Goulet stickers. Love to all at GouletPens. I hope you know you’ve provided me with the tools I use for my reflections, journals, studies, stories, and simple fountain pen enjoyment. I can’t thank you enough. Always keep going. ✒️📜🕯️🌒
I have that Lamy AL-Star in "so called" purple. It does not look purple to me, but I still enjoy it. I like pairing this pen with Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Bordeaux

I love contrasting inks in my pens. One of my favourites is KWZ Honey in my TWSBI 580 Prussian Blue.

My contrast is Noodler's Golden Brown in the Benu Matcha Latte - and my match set is Noodler's Black Swan on Australian Roses in the Lamy AL-star dark purple. Love the inspirations, Drew - keep em' coming!

2:58 I ❤ Rohrer & Klinger Magenta for that Lamy, which I have with a medium nib. But that broad nib looks amazing !
Drew, your ink related videos are AMAZING! This one might be the best yet! You ink/pen pairings are quite nice! I paired my new Visconti Mirage Mythos Apollo with J. Herbin Lie de the, and that's going to be the ink I use in it. I think it matches the barrel. I also bought a Jinhao 9019 transparent to try out a new gold shimmer ink from Tom's Studio so that I could see how mixed the ink is at all times. (the pen is VERY similar to the Sailor 1911 you show, the ink is T.S. #73 Gold Lustre). I could go on, and on, but thanks again for these interesting and informative videos!
Thank you for this!! I'm new to fountain pens and still learning. My light bulb went on when you spoke about using shimmer inks in a demonstrater pen such as the TWISBI. I haven't bought any shimmer inks yet because I'm not quite sure how I want to use them. I do have a TWISBI and that as an awesome idea!!
I have Diamine Early Dusk in my Sailor PGS Starry Sky. The name theming was so perfect that I couldn’t resist and they’re complementary shades of blue.
I also use a Lamy Al-Star with my yama budo, it's the limited edition lilac pen in fine. The color matches a bit better in my opinion, but the other Al-star featured in this video looks super cool too.
Love this video... as a newly "penabled" hobbyist, I'm finding that pen/ink combos are more satisfying to me than pens or inks independently.
I just picked up a Delta Duna in Mirage Magenta from you guys, along with a bottle of Yama-Budo. That combo is fantastic!

Love a good pen & ink pairing, my current pairs are a kaweco liliput copper with diamine ancient copper (my absolute fav) and a navy kaweco sport with wearingeul wicket witch. Also like pairing my simple black pens with vibrant colours like the orange wearingeul Heimdall. Most my pens are demonstrators though, which I agree with Drew they're great for shimmer inks. My fav shimmer atm is FWP Misguided Mistletoe.

My favourite matchy set so far is my Platinum 3776 Century Nice Lavande with Iroshizuku Murasaki-Shikibu. It feels beautiful and the purple is almost a perfect match. I also like it with RO Sydney Lavender
I'm with Drew on pairing purple and gold. Being an LSU fan, favorite combo is my travelers brass pen with a purple ink, currently De Altramentis Purple Violet.

My Diamine shimmering ink somehow caused problems in my 20-years old school fountain pen, and as I adore my TSWBI eco, I inked it the Diamine - and yes, maintenance is so much easier! Sadly, it’s a fine nib, so I think a medium to broad nib will show the shimmer better. Next time 😉
I, too, have a tendency to forget what ink I've put in which pen. Though I know what my Prussian Blue Diamond 580AL has in it right now: Iroshizuku Shin-ryoku. A bit more of a green ink, but it looks great with the pen.

This was a much healthier and more reasonable approach to pen+ink matches than what my brain usually chooses... which is - always having to have PERFECT pen+ink color matches. Seriously, it's a curse. And also makes it impossible to enjoy white pens.
Which brings me to my question - if people who can enjoy different nib sizes are called nib chameleons, what should those of us who have the color matching curse be called? 🤔
Drew-great choices! I specifically love the Earl Grey pen and your choice of ink. I drink Earl Grey loose leaf tea almost every day and the blue flecks of the corn flower petals add yet another layer of enjoyment while it is steeping. Are you a tea drinker??
BTW, I really like your penmanship. A What do you think of a video of several Goulet staff members showcase their handwriting on the continuum from wonderful to more of a normal person’s level. People from Goulet state that all handwriting is fine, just Write On” but I think most people would rather have nicer penmanship.
So for the video, pick 3-5 staff members-including you!-and have them write out a pangram. Here’s a fun one: When zombies arrive, quickly fax Judge Pat. 😂. And also write an alphabet sample in both Capital and lowercase letters. I think that it would be a popular video! ✒️

I usually pair my inks based on wetness and flow based on how the nib is tuned. I don’t tend to match ink color to pen color.
Nekoyonagi is really beautiful, I like to let it sit in my pen for a bit. I think some of the water evaporates off of so it's more saturated on paper.

Loved these ink and pen combos, but now I can't stop wondering about best matches for the Lamy 2000
I use Lamy Cliff in my 2000 with a Medium nib and will probably need to buy several bottles of it because I don't really want to use anything else in that pen. So I need to get a stockpile since that's a limited edition ink!
