  • THE OODNADATTA TRACK PART 2!! Best Mates Tour Episode 8
This would have to be one of AUSTRALIA’S MOST ICONIC OUTBACK TRACKS and is well worth the drive! This time, Ranger and I head south from William Creek and head along the Oodnadatta Track towards Marree. We stop off at the picturesque Coward Springs and check out the ruins of the Old Strangways Telegraph Station. The Oodnadatta Track stretches some 618km from Marla in the North to Marree in the south. It follows The Old Ghan Railway which was in operation from 1878 to 1980! Ruins of Old Sidings, or Rail Stations, still remain and they all tell a tale from the old days!
A little info on Coward Springs.
Coward Springs Campground was once a station on the old Ghan railway line. The site was constructed in 1888 and abandoned before the line was closed in 1980. It is in the Middle of Wabma Kadarbu mound Springs conservation Park and its Ethos is centered around conservation, reducing recycling and reusing!
Features and Facilities at Coward Springs include a Coffee Van, Date Farm and Various sites and attractions. Coward Springs also accommodates camping with your own fire pit and shared showers. Don’t forget to bring your won firewood as there’s not much to be found along the Oodnadatta Track itself.
GET OUT THERE AND CHECK OUT THE OODNADATTA TRACK!!!
Be sure to watch and stay tuned UPCOMING EPISODES where we hit THE BENDELBY RANGES in South Australia!!
