In Finland-Swedish, this bun is called a "fastlagsbulle" and in Finnish "laskiaispulla". They are also common in Finland. And what we in Finland call a "semla" is actually a "bread roll"
In Estonia also. We call the bun "vastlakukkel" and we have a holiday called "vastlapäev" where people go sledding on that day and eat pea soup and a lot of vastlakukkel.

These "Semlor's" are similiar to finnish dessert "Laskiaspulla", in Finland they are a lot smaller and have some kind of jelly inside.

we have the same thing here in poland. We call it Tusty Czwartek (Greasy Thursday) in which we eat polish donuts that have jam inside absolutely Banging
Personally I think it'd be fun with a re-visit of making a SMÖRGÅSTÅRTA

we sometimes use mandelmassa and sometimes sylt instead, about half of the finns want sylt and half mandelmassa.
You probably like the sylt one if you don't like that one.
Also I don't ever make my own ones, I just buy the fazer ones from the store.
